Upon hearing Lawrence scolding her and telling her to fry her brain up, Tristina was confused.
Did she really misunderstand his intention?
Him?
The notorious young master who had committed all sorts of atrocities known to everyone and barely managed to have his life saved because of his father's influence.
"A maid that is supposed to serve the young master is always doubtful and questioning them. Are you truly my maid or a spy for my father?" Lawrence's eyes turned cold as he glared at Tristina.
Poor Tristina could only shake her head tremblingly and desperately tried to proclaim her innocence.
"I don't dare to," Tristina lowered her head and said anxiously, seemingly afraid of Lawrence misunderstanding her. She knew if Lawrence truly wanted her dead, then it would be as easy as making a command.
Ignoring Tristina, Lawrence focused his attention back at the center stage.
Seraphine Nightshade had started introducing herself. "Hello everyone, I'm Seraphine Nightshade, but you all can call me Instructor Seraphine. I'm in charge of the Mana Department, so regarding your talent in magic, I'll most likely become your guide."
She began speaking formally of the usual sort of welcoming ceremony, and to be honest, most of the noble students were starting to get bored. Some were yawning, while others had gradually lost interest in the speech.
After all, most of the stuff Seraphine was saying was something they had already expected. They were educated in their household, so it was clear that they were informed thoroughly.
However, for the commoner students, not a single one of them dared to miss a single wording of Seraphine Nightshade.
To them, this was an opportunity to learn more about magic and the topics that the military academy had to offer.
As for Lawrence, he was in a relaxing posture, his legs crossed and leaning to the back as much as possible. He was enjoying it as if he was home alone, ignoring the presence of others.
"Young Miss, look at how unruly he is. Should we really sit in the same row as him?" Sefina, the attendant of Clementine whispered in nervousness. She was afraid that Lawrence might do something terrible toward her young miss or even stain her reputation.
Who here doesn't know about the notorious deeds that Lawrence had done?
Only those who had lived under a rock wouldn't have heard of him.
And before Clementine could even respond, Lawrence suddenly chuckled and glanced in their direction.
"If you're going to talk badly to someone, then you should make sure that the opposing party cannot hear you." Lawrence snickered.
"Not to mention, your young miss decided to sit in the same row as me, and I did not force her. As an attendant, you are quite bold to attempt to change the decision that your young miss had made. As expected of a commoner that had tried to rebel against us nobles in the past." He added, raising his tone purposely.
Silence, the entire ceremony went into complete silence after they heard Lawrence's outburst.
Not a single one of them had expected Lawrence to suddenly talk about a taboo topic.
The rebellion that happened in the past was considered taboo, and not a single one dared to mention the past again. After all, it was a deadly rebellion and was barely quenched under the iron fist of their Queen.
Seraphine Nightshade, who was still talking at the center platform, paused her speech and narrowed her eyes. Her gaze was directed at Lawrence.
It wasn't just her alone, but everyone else in the ceremony now had their eyes locked on Lawrence.
'I'm so dead now…' Tristina, the maid, was filled with despair. Such a big commotion would definitely be unable to be suppressed and she wanted to strangle Lawrence on the spot to protect herself.
However, she also knew if Lawrence had any injuries, the blame would be placed on her.
She can't do anything aside from sitting in her seat, almost as if there were cement in her butt, waiting for her fate to be sealed.
Finally, the silence was broken when Seraphine spoke up. "I suppose you are the notorious Lawrence that had come through the backdoor to the Tatum Academy, right?"
Curling his lips upward, Lawrence nodded his head.
"Indeed, Instructor Seraphine is well-educated and informed. I'm proud to have you know about my name." He responded, placing his hands behind his head.
"That was not a compliment…" Seraphine twitched her brows and clenched her fist secretly.
"Are you sure that's not a compliment?" Lawrence raised an eyebrow and asked in a doubtful tone.
"How many students seated here do you know or heard about?" He said, calmly standing up from his seat and pointing at a commoner by the front.
"Can you name this student for me, Instructor Seraphine?"
A few seconds later, there was still no response from Seraphine. And it became quite clear to everyone that she indeed did not know the student's name.
Though it should only be natural. Today was merely the first day of the Tatum Academy, and everyone here was a new student.
How could she possibly know them?
Meanwhile, Lawrence capitalized on it and continued further. "See, Instructor Seraphine, you can't even name this random student I picked, but you know about me right away. How can it not be a compliment for me?"
"What a scoundrel!" Sefina suddenly interrupted and stood up.
"Your name is infamous among the Tatum Kingdom and who doesn't know the crimes you did?" She added, harrumphing in her tone.
"Thank you for repeating my notorious deed, but here's the difference between me and the rest, whatever your name was again." Lawrence chuckled.
"I proudly admit my crimes, but what has your Young Miss done that was noteworthy aside from being the duke's daughter?" He turned his attention to Clementine and asked.
"Did Lawrence eat some wrong medicine?"
"He's turning the spearhead at the duke's daughter. What a madman!"
The audience in the crowd started muttering among themselves, clearly not expecting the welcoming ceremony to develop like this.
