Sitting on the slide, Evelyn drew circles using a twig upon the sand. She supported her face on her palm while a pout sat on her face. Her teeth dug into her lower lip.

She repeated in her head to not cry regardless of how upset she felt. She shouldn't make so much demands; it was alright to just have her mother by her side.

"What's the matter?" asked a masculine voice.

Caught off guard, she lifted her head.

There stood Daniel in front of her.

Those big doe eyes of the child were glistening due to tears, and he knitted his eyebrows prior to questioning, "Were you crying?"

In response, she wiped away her watery eyes and expressed, "No, I am not. I am a big girl. I don't cry."

"What happened?" His tone was gentle.

This automatically made her open up about all of her qualms.

"Mom promised me that she would go to school with me for the activity, but she is out due to work. It's okay. I understand. Mom is busy."

Although she tried to be understanding, her voice cracked in the end.

He remained silent for a second before offering, "Would it work if I go along with you?"

Listening to this made her eyes widen. Blinking them, she slowly asked, "You will go with me?"

"If that makes you happy."

She will be over the moon if she could attend the activity with him.

The corner of her lips broke out into a wide grin as though all of her grievances had been washed away, and she exclaimed, "Then, let's go!"

"Come on," he said, extending his hand and carrying her.

Evelyn's nanny approached two of them and showed her reluctance. She trailed off, "This…"

"I will take good care of her," he spoke out.

Evelyn eagerly nodded and added, "I know him, Nanny. You don't need to worry."

"Even so, that can't be done. Your mom left me with your responsibility," voiced out Jenny.

Daniel reached out for his phone and called Stephen. When the said man arrived, his eyes fell on Evelyn, and he waved his hand at her. Evelyn giggled at it and followed his motion.

"I will give you my number, and let my assistant talk to you," he said, leaving no space for argument. "I will simply take her take her to school, and you can check later to confirm."

"Nanny, I will be fine. Really!" Evelyn tried to reassure Jenny.

Sitting at the shotgun seat, she pressed her palms against the window. Then, turning her gaze towards Daniel, she asked, "Mister, can't you open the window for a little bit?"

"No." His tone was resolute.

"Why?" she whined.

"It is dangerous," he pointed out.

"How come it is dangerous? I am a big girl, and it feels too stuffy inside. Can't you pretty please open the window? Aren't you the best? Hmm?"

She pouted and looked at with her big doe eyes, hoping that would be enough to convince him. However, he remained unfazed.

"No. Now, remain quiet," he ordered.

She huffed and puffed up her cheeks, folding her hands over her chest. If it was her mom, she could have thrown a tantrum, but not only did Daniel feel unfamiliar to her, he bore an intimidating temperament.

How could she disobey when he spoke with such solemnness?

She resorted to staring out of the glass window, waiting for the kindergarten to fall into her line of sight. She couldn't recall the time activity would begin at and hoped it wouldn't be too late.

Now, that will dampen the mood.

When the familiar yellow and white painted building fell into her line of sight, her blue eyes glimmered, and she exclaimed, "We are here!"

Following this, Daniel selected a place to park the car before getting out of the vehicle and opening the door for little Eve. Instinctively, she raised her hand, and he picked her up before stepping into the school building.

The interior was decorated and arranged for various sports and other activities to be held. It looked colorful from all sides, and animated characters were visible on various places.

Parents and children alike filled the place. The younger ones bounced with joy, having their parents accompany them.

This reminded her of how in her last life she was all alone in those sort of activities, leaving behind a deep imprint of sadness inside her.

But she had her father with her this time around.

This made her feel excited and proud.

She was just a little sad she couldn't go around, shouting how he was her father.

Thinking of something, her eyes brightened up, and she questioned, "Should I introduce you to my friends?"

Those eyes of hers were filled with hope and excitement which instantly nod his head.
