Element X- The Advanced Form of the unknown element, darkness

Darkness, as an element in its raw state, has no form. It is like Fire: can not be touched, has no weight, no defined shape. What separates Darkness from Fire is the way each one is used.

Fire can be used for creation or destruction. Creation, when controlled by a skilled blacksmith, who will use its power to forge the iron and bronze, giving the metal life, shape, meaning. Destruction, when put to use by unskilled, ignorant or evil hands, who will unleash the energy of the Element without any care, letting it free to burn all that can be burned.

Darkness, like Fire, can be controlled; but unlike the latter, not completely. First, because it has no origin like Fire does (a lump of coal or a campfire).

Darkness is not tied to any material body, thus making it impossible to raise its strength by adding more of such matter or lower its power by removing some of the nameless matter.

This leads to the second reason: there is no way to extinguish it. Water will cause it no damage; Air, as breeze or hurricane, will not cease its existence; Earth, being inert, has no effect on it, nor can it be dissolved in Darkness like in Water to make it impure.

However, the element Fire can harm Darkness, as it brings bound within it the power of the Sixth Element, Light. But since the Light bound in Fire is not of divine origin, its effects are not as expected, thus most of the times causing more harm than good at the end.

But where did this mysterious element feared by most originate from? And why does it always appear when there is no presence of light? Who created this element? Was it created by wizards; who are considered as myths in this new world. Or was it created by the 'Almighty God'. Oh no. Not in this world. Its creator was none other than Kiro, the origin of darkness.

[ Before the era of humans ]

Kiro was darkness itself, only showing himself when there was no presence of light, or fire, as they were his only weakness. During these times he used to visit, he observed someone who he always admired, Gaea.

It was no fault of his. Gaea was a very pretty Goddess herself. Every time she sang while creating nature, he would hide underneath her feet; casting a shadow to watch her.

After a long while of just admiring Gaea, He finally decided to speak to her.

He took the form of a male being one faithful day, making sure he looked fantastic and approached Gaea as she went on with her daily work. Before he could approach her she had already spotted him.

"Oh so you were spying on me, weren't you?". She chuckled.

"Wait how— how — h-ow did you know" He stammered.

"Oh silly you, I have no shadow. And while I was creating I noticed I had a shadow". She said as she look down on the ground.

Kiro did the same and noticed she was right. Her legs didn't even touch the ground too.

"Oooooh" Kiro said in awe.

"What's your name by the way?" She besought.

"K-Kiro" He stammered.

"What a nice name you have" Gaea remarked.

And that's how they met, and how their relationship started. They always met at the same place; when there was the absence of light, chatting their hearts out, joking around and abusing their power. But during one particular day, something happened.

As they went about their daily routine, Kiro tried to confess his feeling for Gaea.

"Gaea... there is something I wanted to tell you". Kiro began.

"What is it?" She asked

"All I wanted to say was I—" before he could finish, a loud bang could be heard from above. As they looked up, they could see the clouds were parting away from each other, moving in a circular path. In the middle, a bright light hit where they were standing.

Irritated and harmed by the light, Kiro moved as fast as he could from where the light hit. Soon, it disappeared and standing right were the light hit was a man with white bright hair and golden skin.

" What brings you here Lucian?" Gaea growled

"No need to be hostile darling, there's a meeting in the other realm. All gods must be present". Lucian remarked.

"I see. Kiro you can come with me" Gaea said.

But before Kiro could walk over, he was abruptly stopped by Lucian.

"Umm Darling, I meant Gods, not..this. What even is that? What an abomination", He snarled. He then grabbed Gaea by the waist and once again a bright light in a form of a beam hit them and when it disappeared, Gaea and Lucian were nowhere to be found.

Kiro was left there. All alone. What Lucian said continued to echo in his head. With his fist clenched and gritting his teeth he spoke to himself.

"I'm an abomination he said". Kiro started laughing hysterically. "And here I thought..I looked beautiful". His ego had been bruised, in front of the woman he admired.

"An abomination? I'll show him what an abomination truly is!"

As he shouted, darkness engulfed the whole place. He transformed back to his original form. He then flew into the sky as he shouted,

"Come forth my children!".

Suddenly, out of the ground, strange beasts emerged. Some looking like dragons, others taking the form of humanoid beings or animals.

But that wasn't the end. Shadowy figures emerged from a cloud of darkness with red eyes and large clawed hands.

....

As the meeting went on in the realm of 'lux aurea', screams and evil cries could be heard from outside 'templum de caelo'.

Bothered by it, the holy messenger decided to go check what was going on.

"ARH!" she yelled in pain as she flew back into a pillar, breaking it entirely. A large hole could be be seen on her chest.

"All of you, leave. Gaea and I will handle the threat" Lucian said as he and Gaea got up from their seats and flew out of the temple.

...

Kiro and his army of creatures destroyed and killed anything on sight as they made their way to the temple. Before they could get to the entrance of the building, Lucian and Gaea stood in front of the entrance.

"Kiro, what are you doing?" Gaea asked, surprised to see who was standing in front of her.

"He's just upset that I told him the truth", Lucian chuckled.

"That's enough!" Kiro exclaimed as he dashed towards Lucian and punched him. The punch sent Lucian flying right into the temple, destroying the other three pillars supporting it. The temple then collapsed and fell right on Lucian. But that didn't kill him. Bright light suddenly started coming out of the collapsed building. It became brighter and brighter until a large blast was formed, blasting away all the broken pieces of golden and concrete on Lucian.

"How dare you touch me? You filth. I'll destroy you!". Lucian hissed as he levitated from the ground. Kiro did the same. Soon, both of them were high up in the sky.

Lucian formed a light spear in his hand and Kiro formed a dark scythe in his hand. Taking a fight stance, both of them dashed towards each other.

[Back to present time]

Jed saw all these flashbacks as he floated in a black void. He felt every emotion Kiro felt that time and even felt as tho it was him fighting Lucian. After the flashback ended in a suspenseful manner, Jed felt compelled to know what happened next.

Instantly, while Jed floated, a dark fog flew right at him, entering his skin slowly. The pain was so intense he couldn't stop himself from screaming. He then could hear screams and see shadowy figures tormenting him.

It took four hours of pain and torture before Jed finally felt as if he was leaving this void back to his body.

His eyes slowly opened and when they did. He could see Kiro staring straight into his eyes.

"Exactly four hours" Kiro said.

"What— what do you mean" Jed asked, puzzled.

"It takes four hours for one to sync with element X ..."

Out of joy Jed leaped from the floor and tried using his newly acquired power, but nothing happened. Disappointed, he turned to look at Kiro dead in the eye.

"Don't stare it me like that. That's not how to use it" Kiro commented. "[sigh] guess we'll have to start training".

Ha.. Sorry for the delay. I normally wouldn’t publish on Weekends and Monday from now onwards because those are the times I would use to structure and plot the next chapters. Please don’t forget to leave a comment, and add this book to your collection if you haven’t.

Thank you!
