Now, she regretted telling him that Gavriel was her cousin.
"Hello, Gavriel," Iris replied, mirroring his chilly greeting on the other end.
"Where are you?" he inquired, still maintaining his typical frigid tone.
"I'm in Darkhill," Iris answered in her low tone.
"What? Why did you go there again?" Gavriel sounded surprised because he knew the distance between Silenthill and Darkhill was quite far, and Iris loathed long drives.
Iris cursed him inwardly because he spoke too loud. She swallowed nervously, fearing that Xavier might overhear their conversation. She hadn't mentioned to him that she had been to this city with Gavriel just a week ago.
"What's the matter? Why are you looking for me?" Iris ignores his question and asks him instead. She couldn't afford to speak long with him while Xavier sat before her. Even though he appeared disinterested, she had a sense that Xavier was secretly paying attention to her phone call with Gavriel.
