Pretend To Be a Lover
Iris tried to hide the redness on her face by looking away. However, Xavier's following sentence made her freeze instantly.
"We need to talk about our relationship, Iris..." Xavier paused, waiting for her to look at him. After their gaze met, he continued, "Tell me what you're thinking."
Iris felt overwhelmed. She was conflicted about Xavier's fake confession, wanting to refuse to play along. However, she didn't want to hurt her grandmother or risk exposing her past, as they would likely discover her true identity if she rejected him.
Trying to appear calm, she secretly took a deep breath, "I know you don't like me, Xavier, but I'm just so confused about how to handle this situation with my grandma. She already believes you have feelings for me, even though it was a lie."
"Why are you so concerned about disappointing her?" Xavier asked, genuinely curious.
