Xavier was hesitant to bring her here so soon, foreseeing that this girl might be frightened or shocked upon seeing Eric's condition. Yet, he couldn't refuse her.
He paused before the massive wooden door. He glances at her and takes her hand before opening the door. When their hands entangled, he was surprised to feel how cold her hand was. This was the first time he felt her body temperature akin to his own.
"Iris, are you ready?"
"Hmm, I'm ready," she answered, although her nervousness was evident when she saw Xavier's concerned look, but she tried to hold it back.
As the bedroom door opened, Iris's heart raced faster. She clung tightly to Xavier's hand, too anxious to see Eric. Her gaze fixed on the figure lying on the bed covered by the blanket.
