"Young girl, it is still early for you to grasp the entirety of GH. Don't worry. You will have ample time to understand its depths. What would you like to know about your mission?" he asked, redirecting the conversation.
He couldn't linger in one place for too long; other matters required his attention.
Iris pondered for a moment, trying to recall any unanswered questions she had.
However, she realized that Gavriel had already explained everything thoroughly. Yet, one pressing concern weighed heavily on her mind—the memories of this young Iris.
"Can I obtain the memories of this girl? I need her memories to live a normal life in this town."
Earlier, Gavriel had warned her she couldn't reveal her true identity as a reincarnated individual and a member of God's Helpers. She feared that any sudden changes in her behavior might arouse suspicion. So, she needed this girl's memory.
Gavriel's attention was momentarily distracted as he looked outside the French window, observing the darkening sky. Night had fallen, and he felt a sense of urgency.
"Indeed, you can obtain those memories. However," Gavriel's voice trailed off, his gaze returning to Iris, "—there will be a price to pay."
"I have to pay for it?" Iris's voice rose in suprised. She couldn't believe that restoring the memories belonging to the body she lived in would come at a cost.
'Heavens! Is GH some sort of dishonest organization? Why should I pay for something? And what currency could I possibly use? Money? I don't even know if this girl has any savings!'
Iris's frustration began to overflow in her thoughts. Regardless of whether Gavriel could hear them or not, she didn't care!
With a composed expression, Gavriel continued his explanation, "There are two options you can choose from. First, you can remain as you are now. Second, you can acquire the memories of young Iris, but in doing so, a portion of your own memories will be lost—"
Iris was shocked to hear that. Her mind swirled with the weight of the decision before her.
"That is the price you must pay," Gavriel continued his words, his smile directed at the bewildered girl before him.
Watching the silent Iris, Gavriel continued his explanation, trying to reassure her, "You don't have to worry. Only a portion of your memories will be concealed deep within your mind. They won't be completely forgotten; they may resurface when triggered. So, Iris, what is your choice?"
Worry crept into Iris' voice as she asked, "Will I lose my abilities? I need them to fulfill my mission. How can I be an assassin if I can't practice martial arts or use a weapon?"
Gavriel smiled reassuringly.
"Your abilities will remain intact. They are your specialty and won't be forgotten."
Without hesitation, Iris made her decision and chose option number two.
Gavriel rose from his seat, his gaze fixed on Iris.
"Before I help you regain your memory, there is something important you must know," He said seriously.
"What is it?"
"When you're on a mission, you must avoid getting caught. Leave no witnesses or evidence that could lead back to you. And as for weapons, as I mentioned earlier, you can select them using your tablet, and they will materialize in your hand," Gavriel explained.
Iris nodded, listening carefully to all the information Gavriel explained to her.
"Since you're still a GH Intern," Gavriel paused, a hint of amusement in his eyes as he noticed her eye roll. He cleared his throat before continuing, "You won't have access to all the tool features just yet. But don't worry, Iris, with your talent as an assassin, you'll soon be promoted to GH Junior..."
"I understand," Iris replied.
"Follow me," Gavriel said, leading the way toward Iris' bedroom. Confusion filled her mind, but she obediently followed.
Soon, they enter Iris's bedroom.
"You can lay on the bed now, Iris..." he casually instructed, standing at the edge of the bed and observing her.
Iris became alert. She crossed her arms defensively and glared at Gavriel, who stood just a few steps away from her. She felt a wave of discomfort, her mind flashing inappropriate thoughts about what Gavriel would do to her.
"Tsk! Young girl, can you please stop imagining such things?" Gavriel shook his head, narrowing his eyes at her.
He carefully examined her from head to toe before speaking nonchalantly, "So that you know, you're not my type, Iris. I'm more interested in badass and older women, not young girls like you."
'I'm not a young girl. I'm a mature woman!' Iris protested internally, though she silently swallowed her words when she realized this man could hear her inner thoughts.
Gavriel found amusement in her apprehensive expression.
"Iris Gray, lay down now!" Gavriel's commanding voice resonated through the room, causing Iris to move without even realizing it; she already lay on the bed. "Close your eyes!"
Her eyes slowly shut, but her heart raced with anticipation. She felt a mixture of vigilance and fear, unsure of what Gavriel might do next.
However, after a few seconds, she lay down on the bed and didn't feel any movement from him. She tried to steal a glance, but how surprised she was when she found that her eyes couldn't be opened.
'This is strange; why can't I open my eyes? Has he left? Why isn't he doing anything?' She wondered.
...
After a long silence, Gavriel's comforting voice finally echoed in her ears, lulling her into darkness. "Now, you will remember your past, Iris Gray!"
Moments later, she felt a stirring in her mind. The darkness surrounding her began to shift, and a rapid succession of flashes played before her closed eyes. The images flew by quickly, like a blur of a hundred movie clips.
Suddenly, the memories buried deep within her mind surged, nearly tearing her head apart. She cried out in her trance, the pain reverberating through her throat. It only lasted a few seconds before she felt nothing as she slipped into unconsciousness.
