Kyle's Training

Watching Kyle doing some simple stretching Kai was left depressed. How was he supposed to fix his spine afterwards?

"Come on, follow my movements!"

Seeing that Kai was not moving Kyle spoke while performing a 'King Pigeon' pose.

Looking at his guardian Kai sighed and dejectedly sat on the ground trying to repeat after Kyle.

He felt his muscles and body stretch and kept pressuring those spots until the pain became unbearable. He wasn't in any danger of tearing anything, because his body was stronger than that of an adult human, but overdoing an exercise might bring him more harm than good.

'More harm than good...'

Kai couldn't help, but recall all the times he spent overworking his muscles until they were completely numb.

...

Choosing to ignore the past Kai started inspecting the changes his body went through.

He noticed that his flexibility increased, allowing him to stretch and bend his body, so much he could somewhat keep up with Kyle. His muscle mass also increased, giving him more defined and toned muscles.

In addition Kai also felt that his muscles seemed to be denser and harder, giving him greater strength and power. His senses, particularly his hearing and sight, seemed to be heightened as well, allowing him to see and hear things more clearly and with greater detail.

'I'm slowly regaining my strength...'

After coming back in time, Kai noticed that the world seemed to be of lower quality. He had yet to awaken his Mana, and as a result, his senses were not as sharp as they used be. Everything seemed dull and muted, as if he was seeing the world through a veil.

But now, after consuming the Icy Iris and using its Mana to strengthen his Lunar Core, Kai's senses were slightly enhanced. He could perceive the surroundings in a much different light, with greater clarity and detail. It reminded him of his first awakening, when he had first gained access to Mana.

"You sure are flexible! Next, let's try your strength"

He heard Kyle's surprised voice and nodded his head.

Weaving his hand Kyle accessed the Spatial Ring he wore on his middle finger and took out a pair of white dumbbells that fell on the ground with a dull sound.

Kai knew about the equipment Kyle took out from his inventory, but kept quiet, waiting for the explanation.

"These are Adjusting Dumbbells, they adjust their weight according to the user... Try lifting them!"

Kyle gestured Kai to grab the pair of white equipment and took a few steps back intending to inspect his 'ward's' progress.

'Huff...'

With slight difficulty, Kai lifted both dumbbells and started doing curl ups. He felt that the weight was perfectly adjusted, because he didn't feel the usual numbness and only the pain that brought him satisfaction.

He did the same motion until his muscles gave in and he dropped the dumbbells on the ground.

"You use a spear don't you?"

Seeing that Kai was done Kyle spoke and seeing the teenager nod his head smirked.

"Why? Why not use a sword? Isn't it a better choice?"

The question made Kai momentarily freeze.

- Use a sword, it's better!

- The sword is the king of weapons!

- True man wields a sword!

He had heard many belittle other weapons and praise the sword as the ultimate weapon. At one point in the past one of his comrades even tried to talk Kai into swapping the spear for a sword.

Was the sword truly superior? No! Only a narrow minded person would think that.

Even though the sword's true strength is its versatility, in Kai's experience, the spear was superior in terms of potential and combat power.

Gazing at Kyle, who was intently waiting for an answer, Kai just shook his head.

"If you truly think that the sword is the most powerful weapon... I'm afraid there's no saving you."

The seriousness plastered across Kyle's face shattered and he covered his mouth, trying not to laugh.

"You've made me laugh more than I've had in years!"

Suppressing the laugh threatening to escape from his lips Kyle fixed his posture and got serious.

"I do not think that the sword is the best weapon, it is versatile, but it has its shortcomings. Every weapon has its pros and cons, so naming the best one would be inaccurate"

Kyle shared his opinion over the matter and Kai could only nod his head, agreeing with everything his guardian said.

"Okay! We've talked enough, let's continue!"

Kai was instructed to do various exercises with the dumbbells until his whole upper body felt sore.

"Stamina time!"

Kyle waved his hand and two pairs of white sandbags appeared before him. Kai had to equip them on all four of his limbs.

As he started running across the field, Kai could feel the weight of the sandbags slowing him down. But he pushed on, determined to complete the exercise to the best of his ability. He could hear the sound of Kyle's footsteps behind him, and he knew that his guardian was chasing after him.

Kai's heart was pounding in his chest as he ran, and he could feel the sweat dripping down his face. He knew that Kyle was right behind him, but was determined to see it through to the end. As he reached the other side of the field, he collapsed on his knees, because his leg muscles gave in.

"Running with 50Kg is still doable, huh?"

Kyle was scratching his chin while Kai was about to remove the sandbags, but the man prevented him from doing so.

"You stink from all the training... Let's go swimming!"

Kai felt that the sense of dread wash over him. Was the guardian who gave him a Natural Treasure swapped with a demon.

Even though the upcoming task would be difficult Kai didn't complain, in fact he kind of liked the way the training was handled.

Kyle and Kai were of a different age, but had a similar mindset.

-Do it until you collapse!
