Getting onto his feet, Nate swayed a bit, feeling drained and lightheaded from creating his martial core.
"Your core is still new, so the energy you can use from it is limited," Professor Garret explained. "For now, just practice getting used to it in your free time."
"Yes, sir," Nate nodded. "I should be going. Professor Jodi might kill me if I show up late."
A grimace crossed Professor Garret's face. "Yes, well, tell her I'll be on vacation for the next week when you see her."
"Huh? When did you decide to go on vacation?" Nate asked, surprised.
"Well, I don't feel like dealing with her when she finds out that I helped you create a martial core, so I'm just going to leave town for a few days." Before Nate could fully process this, Professor Garret had already disappeared.
'Guess he's also scared of her,' Nate thought, a mix of amusement and apprehension swirling in his gut.
