In A World Of Sleep

Soon only the sound of Xelfia's breathing was heard in the cave as Xilo stayed awake resting his head against the hard stone wall as he got a little lost in thought. "I guess she doesn't want to sleep. Can't blame her though." From the corner of his eye he could see the girl on the other side of the cave staring at him without faltering. "Maybe I should talk to her a bit more." She was with strangers and was probably afraid a bit however Xilo had no idea where to even begin. "Screw it..." Stopping himself from yawning he decided to just say something and see where it goes.

"Not tired?"

Sitting there he waited for a reply but he only got a couple mutters before she seemed to give up. "Well maybe that was to be expected." Yet the girl was still a little afraid as she sat there staring at the boy in front of her. "It seems they really weren't lying." She had been keeping track of their surroundings a little bit and nothing had happened to her still. Even if she said she didn't care if they were lying or not anymore there was still that incredibly small part of her that wanted them to not be lying to her and that small hope seemed to have won out this time for now. "I should probably talk to him but..." However just like Xilo she didn't know what to say herself either so she just continued to stare at him in silence.

"Not much of a talker are you. Well neither am I so don't worry about it."

Seeing as he still didn't get a reply Xilo just decided to leave it alone as he spoke aloud to let her listen. Maybe she would chime in at some point and talk herself but his only goal was to make her feel more comfortable around them. "Easier said than done though." However he had to try.

"Well if you'd like you can call me Xilo and this is Xelfia."

"..."

Listening to his cold voice she didn't speak up but she firmly remembered their names as she continued to stare at him. "He's weird and something seems a little different about him but.." Thinking that Xilo began to talk about random stories to help keep himself awake while maybe entertaining her. She heard all kinds of stories from his childhood as he talked about the books he read and some of the moments he shared with Xelfia but he never seemed to really talk about himself and what he had been doing in detail but regardless she listened patiently as time went on while Xilo got lost in his storytelling.

"Weird why do I feel like I'm still the kid in this situation." But he tried to ignore that feeling as best as possible yet some part of him felt like he had done this thousands of times before in the past but he couldn't remember when or where no matter how hard he thought about it. That constant feeling bugged him through the rest of the time but there was nothing he could do about it and soon a couple hours of passed with Xilo essentially just talking to himself before Xelfia eventually woke up herself.

"Ahh..Let's end here then."

Seeing that she had woken up it was time for him to sleep now unfortunately.

"Done your story telling?"

"For now, haha."

"Good then get some sleep yourself.

"Fine, fine."

She had been awake for a little of his storytelling so she had an idea of what he had been doing this whole time as she sat herself up before stretching her body as Xilo practically fell asleep near instantly. "See this is why I should have taken the first watch." Sighing she grabbed his body by the shoulder and laid him down on her lap as he slept before turning to the girl who kept staring at his face even as he slept.

"He sure fell asleep quickly eh?"

Watching the girl nod to her Xelfia slightly smiled as she now knew why Xilo was doing all the talking. "Well that explains it." He was probably trying to get to know her a little bit and she didn't talk at all it seemed.

"Well my name's Xelfia though he probably already told you that but you should sleep now probably."

Watching her hesitate Xelfia wouldn't know what to do as if she said no but thankfully that wasn't the case as the girl nodded yes again before laying down. "Good.." Watching her start to sleep Xelfia turned to look outside and watched as the daylight that was there before turned dark. "It's going to be a long night." Sighing, she rubbed Xilo's hair a bit as time went on.

*Rattle*

Opening up his eyes the young boy looked around the room and stared at the same images he saw almost everyday. A dark empty room where he was chained to a wall with only a couple books lying around here and there with a couple writing utensils. But instead of feeling depressing he felt excited today because it was finally that time of week again. "She's coming again." With a little excitement he made sure the the room was ready for when she arrived. If he didn't he would get scolded and that wasn't something he particularly enjoyed. These small periods of time were meant for him to enjoy and he didn't want to ruin that by not being prepared. "Hurry, hurry..." Rushing himself he moved anywhere the chain would allow him as he cleaned the room up while getting ready for today and soon he could hear the the sounds of light footsteps in the distance before they finally arrived at his door. "Finally." Watching a woman sit on the other side of the bars he smiled as she announced her arrival while smiling cheerfully.

"Good day Xilo how have you been?"
