The three cadets hounding Jeremy and Gary felt warm inside after realizing that Gary was not so different from them. Sure he did a few things that would cause them to balk in shock but that was it.
As long as he was still what they would term human, then everything was A-ok. After all, the presence of a monster would cause several cadets to lose the urge to keep moving forward.
If one took a moment to think about the situation of things as it where, then what would be the point of placing all your effort and working hard just to see someone that easily gets things down just because he is what the instructors and leaders would call a genius?
They even felt that the term genius should be banned from usage as it made others feel inferior and that feeling irked them to no end, after all, who would want to be constantly told that they are mediocre?
