Photographic memory

He rested for a while and then went to their class. First Year – section A. To his surprise, he was put into the star section. In their entrance exam, he managed to have a passing score. So much for the delinquent like him.

He went inside the class and his classmates all talked from his back.

"Hey is that Renji?"

"Yes, that trash imposter? I am a fan of him, but not anymore." Someone said to him. Slightly whispering.

"He is a notorious bad boy. That's all there is to him. Anyways, let's ignore him. He is a feeler that pretended to be a Basketball player. It ended up being shamed in front of his fans." His other classmate said with snubbing demeanor and rolled eyes.

Renji ignored their comments and went to the side of the window. Then, watched the outside view. Mountains, birds, sea, nothing was special.

He immediately saw some of the students middle fingered him outside the window. Making him sigh, with it, now he will be etched in the history of being a loser.

"Hey! Feeler!" Someone said on the outside then made some moves of air dribbling without a ball. Making fun of him then laughed.

Renji was annoyed, but still held back. He could not even beat a kid with his body weakened by over exercise.

This made him lost in the one on one duel. But still, Renji did not want to reason out his weakness. He was still weak even him on full condition. The thing was, even he was in full stamina and health, Kevin would still be a formidable opponent.

Several ones entered the room and Renji was observing each one of them. They were all looking at him with not disgust but a sense of underestimating him. They all were looking with annoyed look and wanted to make fun of him as he was the number 1 loser of the school.

"Hey! You are Renji? The loser?" A tall classmate in the height of 6 2 asked. "You are trashed but could still stand up again. Despite all the talks here and there, you became famous immediately. As the Feeler Renji or Imposter Renji. Are you this weak by the way?" He asked. "Forgive my rudeness, I am Aizawa." He shook hands with him.

"I am Renji, I dream of becoming a basketball player." He smiled.

"That's it! Don't forget your dream even what they say! I am impressed that you did not take it to heart and stood up again." He said to him.

"Also, want to play basketball later? They will have tryouts in the afternoon. I will join too!" He said with astonishing happiness evident in his eyes.

"You sound so excited huh, I will join too, so let's go together," Renji said in a low voice then sighed.

"Yah, by the way, I want to ask. Are you really Renji of the Prodigies?" He asked. "Of course not, of course, I am mistaken right?" Aizawa said in a shy voice then scratched his head.

The teacher then arrived and they all went to their seats. Also Aizawa, took his seat hastily on his back. The class would soon start.

"Good morning class, I am Sir Shiki, nice to meet you all." A man with semi bald hair that looked like in his fourties with eye glasses. "I will be your homeroom teacher."

The class stood up and then greeted their teacher. They soon were given with a piece of paper and they were shocked. It was a pretest in the Physical Education. As their college or academy was in the PE course. Or college of Physical Education.

Renji, hastily answered and then he paused, he immediately leaned his chin on his hands and stared outside again. With it, his teacher was shocked that he finished first.

"Pass your papers finished or unfinished."

They gave the papers to the front and then they checked it. To their surprise, Renji was the highest. Making the classmates impressed.

"I guess he was smart, at least. Not a basketball player though, hahaha." Said his female classmate.

"So it is his saving grace after all. He is a smart student." Said his teacher.

"Okay! Renji memorize this one page of paper in one reading. It is about the Legend of the Phoenix."

"Okay sir!" Renji replied.

'Hehehe, even the smartest student could not memorize that with more than 200 words.' Sir Shiki said in his mind. He wanted to expose Renji and that he was not smart and a dumb person.

Renji read the paper and he watched it. "Sir! I can't memorize this all. Can I reread again?" He asked.

"Sure! Bwahahah." Shiki thought that he was just making an act.

Renji reread it and then he said it out loud. He managed to say the key words with slight alterations but still, he started from start to finish.

All were amazed. To think that he was able to say it like he was reading. In Renji's point of view, he could see the letterings etched on his mind even though he was not looking at it anymore. The narrative was easy to memorize as it has keywords. Minus the word for word.

"Ugh, how? How did you memorize it with two readings? Did you perhaps have.... photographic memory?" He asked.

"I don't have sir!" Renji said to him.

All were silent, but he was there standing all opened their mouths agape.

"Renji, you cheated! So you already memorized it huh? Go to my office!" Sir Shiki shouted.

"Sir! I didn't cheat!" He protested.

"Office, now!" He shouted.

"Okay sir!" Renji ran towards the office.

"Bwahahaha, you wanted to look smart?" Someone insulted him. But ignored.

With it, the classmates discussed him and he was the topic. They all were more courageous to insult him now with what happened. How come a delinquent be smart? They asked.

He was scolded in the office and Sir Shiki was in the room full of books and a chair was offered to him. Though, Renji stood up without sitting.

"Hey! Why did you cheat? Did you sneaked in my office and memorized the page?"

"Sir, how did I know that you will make me memorize it in the first place? Did you perhaps talked this to others? Or just yourself?" Renji protested.

"Hmm, I did not talked this to others. Still, memorizing it in one sitting is still not believable. Even one night is unbelievable with your backgrounds. Tell me, are you this smart?" He folded his arms.

"Maybe it was just a flash that I managed. Maybe I can't do it anymore or just a lucky one, or a jackpot and fluke. Beginner's luck perhaps?" He asked.

"Hmm, maybe, I will let you prove yourself. And maybe redeem yourself from such humiliation." he chuckled. "You wanted to become famous right? In basketball? But ended up being humiliated."

"No comments sir! It was a complicated one," he said. Sir Shiki then chuckled. Making the mood to lighten up.
