Episode 03 - To Kanra

[ ~ Chapter • Start ~ ]

{ The Next Day.... }

Rance, Kanami and Sill stood in front of a wooden door, with the ninja being confused for a short moment.

"What's beyond this door?" Kanami asked, as Sill glanced at her.

"I don't really know... Master Rance always told me not to open the door or try to enter the basement...." Sill replied, shaking her head.

When Rance approached the door, he extended his arm forwards, and several layers of magic circles appeared before him. After that, he pressed his open palm to the middle of the magic circles, in which they all activated and vanished as they did.

The wooden door automatically opened, and a path downstairs was revealed in front of them.

"Normally I wouldn't let you pass, Kanami. But since you're a loyal servant of Princess Lia, I'll allow you limited access there." He tilted his head to glance at Kanami "Just don't touch anything, and both of you will only follow me. Got that?"

Kanami and Sill nodded, before following him downstairs on the basement below, not forgetting to close the door behind them. Light emanated from several bulbs on the ceiling, lighting up a dim pathway down below.

After several tens of steps, they found themselves in a warm room in the basement. Several crates were placed neatly in lines, each with a different color and similar labels.

"If you're asking what those are, those are the containers for my R-Grenades, basically magic contained in small cylinders. They go unstable once activated. By the way, two types of those were used by me almost a year ago." Rance spoke, opening a few boxes of the containers. "There's also some stuff that is still confidential, so we're going to take a while to get you some good equipment."

While Rance and Sill browsed through the room, picking up useful tools like one of a few types of R-Grenades, Kanami noticed something else near the walls.

It was an armor and a sword.

"The [Leazas Holy Armor]? No, that's a replica, right?" Kanami spoke, immediately noticing something different from it's appearance.

If she were to compare it to the original, the replica looked really bad. Yeah it looked almost the same, but the L that was engraved on it became something intentionally poorly written.

"Rance-dono? The Holy Armor Replica...."

"Yeah? That's merely a part of my plans, I'd basically just put a weak illusion on it that turns the L into what the Holy Armor had, aside from that, it's actually pretty durable for a mere replica, helps me with my plans until I decided to make it rust using an enchantment on it. It also wouldn't work when interacting with a certain seal it was designed to lift."

After another while, Kanami had gained a new set of weapons and shurikens, Rance equipped the [Rance Hyper Sword and Armor], and Sill didn't wear anything other than two bracelets that increased the power of her spells, while lowering their costs, and a backpack containing several types of weapons, R-Grenades, and various supplies that she easily carries on her backpack.

Because Kanami had arrived and seen several things considered confidential, she made an oath to Rance that she'd keep silent about the basement. The information she was given was confidential, after all.

The moment before they exited Rance's house, Rance and Sill began to close all windows, take a large dragon egg from his room which Rance put in one of his coat's inner pockets.

Anyways, the three of them began their journey to the east, not before Rance tore off the shoulder pads Kanami has.

"Hey! You can't just tear them off!" She complained, and Rance replied with a glare on her direction.

"If Helmanian troops even once see you with those, you'll immediately blow our cover." Once he said this, Kanami had sighed out.

And, because he's not some guy who would just throw away stuff like that, he passed it to Sill.

[ ~ Line • Break ~ ]

A few hours have passed since they ventured from the Free City of Ice to begin rescuing Lia, and they arrived at the Free City of Kanra, east of Ice.

Currently having nothing to do, Rance and his allies entered a restaurant that has it's name "HannyRes" displayed above.

"Welcome to HannyRes!" A brown Hanny greeted just by the moment Rance entered the Restaurant. "Would you like to smoke Tahacco?" (*2)

"Nope. I'm not that one guy to develop a smoking habit." Rance replied, shaking his head. "Although... We'd like to have a little snack here, we'll go further east after this."

Extra Information:

*1 - Rance Hyper Sword and Armor - The heavily modified versions of the Leazas Holy Sword and Armor, now being capable of regenerating by feeding it with mana. The Armor is now several times more durable, and makes sure it quickly adapts to most situations Rance encounters. In fact, it actually becomes stronger the more he wears it. It also increases Rance's combat abilities, physical and magical by a few times. The sword however, has become more durable and can channel Rance's mana almost effortlessly. The Hyper Sword's blade glows pink... seriously.

*2: Hannies, or collectively Haniwa are mostly sentient creatures that have three holes for their faces. They do not have legs, and are totally immune to magic.

Fun Fact: Sill's clothing is personally created and heavily enchanted by Rance..... after her previous clothing had been almost destroyed by a mimic due to carelessness.

"Tsk..... still no use, huh?" Satella stared down at an unconscious, naked blue haired girl, who was the princess of Leazas, Lia Parapara Leazas.

She and her attendant hasn't told them any information about the [Holy Treasures of Leazas], no matter how much torture Saya, the girl in charge of torturing Lia for information and several Helman Soldiers in charge of her attendant.

Satella extended her hand towards Lia, trying to extract information from her, only to find absolutely nothing other than a figure of an "Elegant and Strong person with brown hair and dark green coat".

Satella remembered that Rance also had brown hair, but he doesn't seem to be wearing a green coat....

Now she was becoming curious....

"Satella shall be leaving her to you, she has important things to do."
