Chapter 11: Confession

"Ha, ha, ha, ha!" Chloé chortled.

"You're in disbelief. I expected this," he said calmly.

"Kemal, now you are making me think you are mentally unwell."

"I would feel the same way if I were you, but it's true."

"You mean to tell me your sister, Sezen–"

"Good memory," he interrupted. When Chloé didn't respond, he continued, "By remembering her name, I mean."

"Oh, well you just said it a few seconds ago," she said.

"Cheater," he said. Chloé was surprised at his silliness and they both snickered. It was a relief to be able to joke at a time like this.

"So ... your whole family are vampires? Your siblings, parents, extended family?"

"Yes."

"Even you?" she asked. It was an honest question from someone who had no idea that people like that existed.

"I'm not like them. They get pale, cannot go in the sun, and crave ... " He trailed off.

"Please finish," she said. "The only pseudo-education I have about this topic is from movies."
