- The Villainess POV-

'I hate it here.'

Su Ren pours more alcohol into their glasses.

"What a bitch" Xiang Long spits, glaring at Fan Long whos chatting with some nobody on the other side of the hall.

"I know right, I heard she even tried seducing Lian Jin."

She turned sharply to Su Ren, "No way! How low can she get!"

Sun Ren raised her eyebrows in agreement. It was fun, this thing that they did. Passing rumors left and right about Fan Long even making up their own on occasion. Everyone seemed to think that Fan Long was this fucking angel. But only she and Su Ren saw through her little act. Only Su Ren hadn't abandoned her after that whore showed up to replace her.

Her eyes passed over the other guests and landed on a woman standing alone in a corner. She wore a midnight blue dress that hugged her body. It was such a lovely dress. Maybe she would approach the woman later and ask where she'd gotten it. A small smile appeared a the thought.

Xiang Long then noticed where the woman was looking, she was staring at the dining table where Fan Long was. The smile immediately turned into a scowl. Whatever the woman clearly had no taste. Dark blue was such a poor choice, it completely clashed with her amber hair and porcelain skin. Who would find her attractive!

Xiang Fang drank some more and instead looked over to Lian. He was her childhood friend, well that might be an exaggeration. They had known each other since childhood and yet neither of them really cared for one another. However, Xiang Long felt that when they did get married then they would eventually develop feelings for one another. Sometimes, Xiang Long wondered why she didn't see Lian the way her friends did. Su Ren and Bai Mi would always mention how handsome he was, and how when their Male God looked n their direction they felt their heart flutter.

Her heart never fluttered. Instead, she felt a sort of sinking feeling deep in her stomach.

Maybe she was broken? Maybe that was why her parents liked Fan Long more than her. Fan Long was normal, she was-

Xiang Long watched as her parents hugged their real daughter and wished her a happy birthday. It was her birthday too and yet this party was clearly only meant for one of them.

Xiang Long drank some more. Her head felt lighter and her movements became more sluggish. Su Ren kept filling her glass and at some point, they had made their way forward as her father pulled the crowd's attention onto him. She was closer to the woman now. Her lips were parted. Su Ren nudged Xiang Long's shoulder, and she hastily turned away and focused on the stairs case.

She saw Fan Long was standing next to her father and mother. Why wasn't she with them? She didn't even care to replace Fan Long, she just wanted to be included. Why hadn't they warned her ahead of time this was happening? Why has she left behind again?!

"-we had no idea how much joy our little Fan would bring us."

Belatedly she remembered that today, her father was supposed to make pancakes for breakfast. Something they had done every year since her 6th birthday. Blueberry pancakes shaped like Micky Mouse.

"we are so thankful that we were able to find each other-"

That morning she had woken up to an empty house. One of the servants had told her that Fan Long had wanted to go out for breakfast, and they hadn't thought to wake her.

"Now I am pleased to announce,"

A million thoughts swirled around in Xiang Long's head. She could feel her breathing become shaky and her palms get sweaty.

Midnight blue-

"Fan Long and Jin Lian are engaged!"

What?

Her father continued and her shock turned to panic and then outrage. That's not fair! She was supposed to marry Lian! She was supposed to be the one! Why does that awful woman try to take everything away from her! Her hands curled into fits,

"this argement-"

Xiang Long snapped.

"YOU BITCH!!!" she screamed and launched herself at Fan Long.
