The Sword Dance of Red and Blue Part 4

"Lyn won't be alone, she will have Rhys." Kazuya said confidently.

'And Raven.' Kazuya frowns slightly thinking of the blue haired magician.

It's not like he disliked the man, but he feels that Raven's feelings for Lyn are too strong. How many times has he seen people driven to madness because of a one sided love? It wouldn't surprise him if that happened to Raven.

If Lyn truly intends to keep Raven by her side, she needs to prepare herself for that.

At the mention of Rhys, Miley looked upset again. "King Kazuya, do you truly trust that person? I wasn't here five years ago. But, I heard everything the servants said about him. There is a mixture of opinions, but amongst them the rumors I have learned that he is a flirt who sleeps with anybody! Some of the servants have slept with him. How could a man like that be the Emperor?"

Kazuya didn't know what to say to this. So, Rhys actually slept with the servants in the past? He thought with Beth around, he wouldn't do that. A deep sigh escapes his lips.

"While I cannot excuse his past behaviour. The current him will not do that. I am sure you have seen it with your own eyes, how he looks at Lyn."

"But, what about you?" Miley asked. "Will the Queen toss you aside now that man is back?"

"Lyn won't do that, even though she could. She won't leave me when I am in this state. She isn't heartless, you said it yourself how kind she is. Enough about this depressing topic, how have you been? How was acting like a noble lady?"

Miley's expression turned sour and Kazuya laughed. "Was it truly that bad? I heard that you made friends."

"I did make friends, but I am never returning to that place. I truly don't understand why noble ladies have to undergo such torture. They call that an education? At least teach them something useful. All these lessons are useless in the face of a war."

"That's why we have the military academy."

Miley shakes her head. "Even the regular academy's should teach basic self defence. The lessons they have regarding battle are so bland. Why do we have to keep up elegant postures while we are fighting? There is seriously something wrong with that place."

Listening to Miley rant, Kazuya laughs. Ever since Rhys returned, he has been isolating himself not just from Lyn but everybody else. He wanted the knights to get used to having Rhys around and not him. While the others have wanted to speak to him, they have respected his decision and left him alone.

However, Miley completely broke all those rules.

After chatting for a while the girl fell asleep, and the moment she did, someone drapes their cloak around her shoulders. Seeing Lan, Kazuya sighs.

"There are rumors everywhere that you are stalking her." Kazuya said disapprovingly.

"Now, now father in law. I don't stalking is the right word to use,

Kazuya shuddered. "Hearing you call me father in law is creepy. It's true me and Lyn have treated Miley like our own child. But, your not even in a relationship with her yet."

"Not yet, but when she remembers her birth origins she will certainly come to my side."

Kazuya immediately understood what Lan was saying. "You want to take her away?"

"I know she will not come with me, but I can drop a few hints that will get her curious. When she sets of on the journey on her own, I will secretly trail her until she discovers the truth."

"Miley just confided in me that she doesn't know what to do after this. So, I hope you drop those hints fast, because we have at most a week or even less before the Snow Kingdom army comes."

Lan chuckled. "Relax, I know what I am doing. If worse comes to worse Miley won't have to make a decision since we will all be dead or turned into mindless puppets."

"What do you mean?"

"Miley has been suspicious about the teachers in the Silver palace since the beginning, and before she left she finally caught them contacting somebody from the Snow Kingdom. As of that day, the silver palace has been on lock down and nobody has been able to go home. We do not know whether the students have been brainwashed or not, so we are doing a careful investigation. However, it seems like Queen Jennifer intends to raise an army of the undead and brainwashed individuals."

Kazuya felt the blood in his body grow cold hearing those words. "So those goblins?"

"They were ours, the ones the magicians use as familiars. However, they ended up being brainwashed. I think the Queen noticed this too and that's why she told me to join Miley's mission in the silver palace."

This 'brainwashing' ability that Queen Jennifer has is an issue. They do not know how it works, because of this they have to be wary about anybody becoming brainwashed at any time.

"When we swore the oath to become Queen Lyn's personal knight, she infused some of her magic into our blood. Because of this, I can safely say none of the personal knights will be brainwashed. But, it won't be good just having the ten of us fighting against an army of thousands."

"Can we not rely on the surrounding Kingdoms?" Kazuya asked.

Queen Jennifer's brainwashing probably only works on the creatures and people in the Mist Kingdom, since she frequently visited in the past. She has had time to inspect the lands and plant traps.

"The Sound, Wind and Rain Kingdom are willing to come to our aide. The Rain Kingdom forces however maybe delayed due to the snow storm."

"Is the snow storm affecting other Kingdoms too?"

"Only the Rain, since they are quite close to one another."

Kazuya wondered if that was truly a coincidence. "Keep investigating, and report to Lyn, Rhys or me if anything changes."

"Understood." Lan scoops up Miley. "I shall be taking this one away if you do not mind."

Kazuya shakes his head. "If she wakes up, don't be surprised if she hits you."

Lan only chuckles before leaving the room. Kazuya's gaze fell on the window. The snow storm outside was only getting worse by the minute. He closes his eyes, even if Lyn and Rhys helped get rid of his fatigue he still felt incredibly weak. It would be best if he just got some rest today.
