For three weeks we labored here in this hot, torturous hell. Over twenty of the sickly orcs had died under our care. The initial enthusiasm of Theo and the small number of shamans left alive was dwindling.
The only bit of information we discovered, was there was no natural immunity unless you had a System. Making Theo and myself, the healthiest and only virus-free living beings in the building.
I'd been stuck on herb duty, going over the local flora and sorting it accordingly for Theo to experiment with. Though we were still limited by the lack of tools and equipment.
Many nights I caught Theo sobbing and complaining out loud to his system when I returned to our shared room.
Not once had I been allowed outside of the walled temple grounds, yet each day at least three new patients arrived. No longer just the elderly, women, and children, even the strong adult males were succumbing to the mysterious illness.
