He walked afoot, passing by the great lake of Hogwarts.
Memories came and memories went by in his mindscape, some bad, some worse... but his expression did not falter.
The man looks above, where the astronomy tower has someone gazing at the stars. Quite a strange sight, for someone to be present at the start of a new term.
The moon made the scene look astonishing, enough to make anyone gasp at the wonders of the world, but not Pyre.
Never to Pyre.
The astronomy tower would always meet his remorseful eye.
For not being better than his betters when he needed to be.
'What is power worth when you do not have it when it is needed?'
'Why do I still stick to the old ways?'
'Why do I think it would do any good to let go of the old ways?'
Somewhere reminiscing old memories, time passed as it would have had otherwise.
"Pyre?" A staunch, sharp voice invited his attention.
A lady- rather a witch. Not older than the day he had left her- the wrinkles and old age were ignored in the eyes of the seer.
"Minerva... It's good to see you."
"It's good to see you too, Pyre." The woman replied with her greetings.
"How are the- "
"The kids are good. Cleio is a master curse breaker in America and Antonio is in the International Confederation of Wizards. You should have asked how were the grandchildren faring." Minerva replied sternly before Pyre could frame a question.
"How are-"
"He is 17, he will be graduating this year. The other one is due next month" Pyre just looked her up with a smile, which made a smile appear at Minerva's.
She closes down to him and hugs him. "It is really good to see you."
Pyre just looked at the school while ruffling her hair, looking forward to what Hogwarts had in store for him after calling for him inevitably.

"Should you be doing this? Inviting HIM of all people? You do remember his name right?" A hat with a slit where one could imagine his mouth to be talked.
"Now now, I will ask you to forget that one incident, he did put out the fire in the end."
"I am serious, Dumbledore."
the famous Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore thought a while before he replied to the hat.
"He is all but needed, more so when sinister events such as these come to play themselves."
"It is not his name that would cause a problem, that has already happened once before. It is his given name that is the problem." The hat retorted.
The Hogwarts headmaster's room bellowed into silence. The man opposite to Dumbledore was still unsure, given the events that had come to play surrounding the "Strongest Gray wizard" was not revealed that briefly to the common populace.
Actually, they were not revealed at all, there was mere word of mouth, but the mouths were of credible people.
"Pyre has had many nicknames, given names. Some are still used to mentioning a great wizard like him," he contemplated "The Dark white wizard, the truth-seeker, the saint of the beggars, as such, the lesser known dark deeds on his part remained, lesser-known." Dumbledore rose from his seat, walking slowly towards the hat.
Severus paid great attention to the old wizard. Even the hat and the portrait of ex-headmasters were curious as only four wizards in the living world were privy to the information regarding the infamous "Pyre", named to be the equal of the great wizard Dumbledore.
The reason for such was the disappearance of such a great and celebrated wizard. For almost 4 decades the once-called greatest wizard had disappeared from the face of the magical world, thought to be dead not much after.
"So it is true? Is he really your equal?"
"Equal?" Dumbledore smiled, reminiscing old tales. "Pyre is a strange man. Curious, but strange... He was strong, and so was I. Now we are but mortals on the edge of our lives... In a duel, I may win but in a fight... he is... dangerous."
He continued, picking the sorting hat up and putting it beside ex-Headmaster, Phineas Black's portrait, for it to have company in its solitude.
"His fame was rather short-lived, even while performing deeds worth respect, as he wanted so. Voldemort himself sought him out during his seclusion."
The Sorting Hat looked at Severus, thinking of something, choosing its words. It then asked, as was his right as the guardian of Hogwarts.
"I am still unconvinced about inviting the "Death Eater" Pyre to the school." The mention of the infamous group of Voldemort followers made Severus flinch.
"I expected the Sorting Hat to be the most supportive of him as an addition to our Hogwarts staff." Dumbledore came back to his seat, while Severus contemplated over all that was known to him to remember Pyre amongst the ranks of the Dark Lord's followers.
"Don't bother Snape. He was of no service to the Dark Lord." The Sorting Hat explained, looking back to the Headmaster, who was in a trance, looking outside, as if searching for something.
"He is not figuratively, but literally the Death Eater, known only to a few people."
"Pyre the truth seeker! Pyre the Dark white wizard! Pyre the Goblin brother! The saint of the beggars!...-
-Pyre the Death Eater! Pyre the Dementor!"
"All for good reasons, I presume?" Snape asked, still doubtful if he would like to meet someone the Headmaster compares to a Dementor.
Dumbledore just smiled at the question, sipping the last of his drink
