Hearing the monstrous roar, Lukas was the first one to react.
"EVERYONE BACK UP!"
Hearing their leader's command, the members somehow managed to react in time to get into a makeshift battle formation right before the boss appeared.
CRASH
As Ergus turned into the laboratory room, he crashed into the foundation of the entrance. Part of the wall around them started crumbling from the impact of the boss's tough scales.
"Tank get ready! Priest, stand behind Hector" Lukas immediately got to work commanding his team once he saw the boss's enraged eyes turning toward their group.
Lukas's team was very well-rounded, consisting of a single healer and tank, two swordsmen, and a hunter. Hector, who was in charge of tracking Wyatt, was a hunter class and specialized in using a crossbow.
After running passed the group of players, Wyatt turned around to watch the situation. Although being tracked like this was very annoying, Wyatt had to admit that Lukas was pretty talented in leading his team.
It only took him a few commands to calm everyone down and get in battle formation. Seeing the team's quick arrangements, Wyatt was more confident that he could somehow use them to successfully kill the boss.
Watching Lukas stressfully try to control the situation, Wyatt decided to teasingly give his fanboy some words of encouragement.
"You're doing great!" Wyatt shouted out while hiding behind the group
Hearing Wyatts' voice, Lukas glared at him before yelling out in anger "TWITE!". Currently, Lukas would like nothing more than to charge toward Wyatt and kill him, but he knew that if he abandoned his team right now they would completely fall apart.
"Hector, prepare to use drain shot"
After shouting out his commands, Lukas ran forward to engage the boss. Immediately using [ignite] Lukas could feel his sword heating up as it started changing colors to a bright orange.
As Lukas started launching his fire projectiles forward, Wyatt immediately noticed his improvement since they had their battle not long ago. Of course, Wyatt had also improved since then, so he was still very confident in winning any possible rematch.
Unlike Wyatt's earlier chakram attacks, Lukas's fire projectiles were completely made of mana so they didn't bounce off of Ergus's scales. The flames lingered on Ergus's body for a few seconds before dissipating, while Lukas looked on in confusion.
He couldn't understand why his attack had zero impact on the boss. Even if the scales were too hard to burn, the heat produced from the projectile should've at least been enough to bother the chimera.
Wyatt didn't want to waste time while Lukas tried to figure out the situation, so he immediately called out to clear up the confusion.
"I forgot to mention, the boss can control fire!"
Jumping back behind their tank, Lukas heard Wyatt shout before frowning in annoyance. If the boss was truly immune to his fire attacks, he would be severely limited in how he could approach this battle.
As Lukas sorted his thoughts, Hector finished preparing his attack.
"Tim I need you to distract him!" Hector shouted toward the tank, while carefully aiming his crossbow.
Charging forward with his shield, Tim rammed into the side of the chimera quickly pushing him back several feet. After getting the boss's attention Tim immediately used one of his skills [Call For Attention]. By shouting out as loudly as he could, a large shockwave of sound attacked the boss forcing it to focus on the tank.
The enraged Chimera boss immediately launched toward Tim with his claws. Luckily, Tim was completely prepared for this after using his earlier skill, so he quickly followed up with another of his abilities.
[Absolute shield]
Wyatt watched in amazement as Tim's shield nearly doubled in size. After growing larger, the shield was also covered in a thick layer of mana, giving it another added layer of defense. Due to his own affinity, Wyatt could tell that this layer of mana was mostly made out of the wind element.
Although he noticed there was something special about the mana layer that he couldn't put his finger on.
BOOM
The impact of Ergus's claw was enough to send a shockwave across the room, even causing the team's healer to wobble backward in surprise. Despite this, Tim managed to stay unmoved after taking the hit with his shield.
After successfully tanking the hit, Tim smirked at the chimera before chuckling "Hey stupid lizard! Is that all you got?".
Hearing Tim's trash talk, Ergus became even more enraged as it started launching repetitive attacks toward the tank. Tim hadn't just insulted the boss because he thought it was fun, it was actually a secondary part of the skill [Call For Attention] he used earlier. After Successfully tanking an attack, he can follow up with another taunt to increase the control he has over the opponent's focus.
As Ergus repeatedly attacked his shield, Tim could already start to feel his mana quickly draining. Despite knowing that his defense would only be able to last another minute against the chimeras onslaught of attacks, Tim was fully focused on buying enough time for Hector to take a perfect shot.
Luckily, he didn't have to wait much longer.
VOOOOSH
The sound of wind being pierced rang across the room as Hector launched a projectile toward the boss. Wyatt who had already tested the defense of the boss's scales, shook his head in disappointment while thinking the projectile would simply bounce off of Ergus.
GRAHHHHHH
Wyatt was quickly proven wrong, as he watched the weirdly shaped projectile pierce one of the scales before starting to dig into the chimera's body.
