13. Is she our daughter?
Gabriella's POV
He has become more mature than he was four years ago, with longer hair and bangs that can cover half of his red pupils. I feel a little uneasy inside as his aura seems stronger. Fortunately, my wolf is not as excited about her mate as before. His arm muscles bulge, and his brows reveal a fierce expression. I even sense a terrifying aura of killing intent. As I watch the fight between them, he kills with ease. Now I guess the rumors about him ending his father's life for power might be true after all. I thought seeing him would make me feel different, but when I see him, I hate him more. He's just a black history that I don't wish to revisit again.
I notice he gets carried away with the ones he is fighting, not seeing the impending danger from behind. I will save him because he is my twin sister's husband, and for no other reason attached to it. "Og lu an to ditol." The Black wolf dies instantly along with the others. Then he turns around; I didn't get enough time to hide. How I wish Lady Margaret had taught me the disappearing spell; I would have made use of it.
"Gabriella? Is that really you?" I keep him mute and turn around to face my business. I had no clue he was this fast and could block me from leaving. "Get out of my way this very minute before I do something crazy," I yell with anger and hatred written all over my face.
"I know you are angry at me, but you just saved me, for which I am grateful. Where have you been all these years?"
When his gaze touches me for a moment, the killing intent in his blue eyes disappears instantly and is replaced by a look of surprise and pleasure, as if I were someone very precious to him. "I don't answer to you, Alpha Nicklaus. I have other important things to do, and I believe you also have something important to attend to as well." He holds my hands and looks like someone who is about to explode in saying hurtful things to me. But then he takes a deep breath, as if he is controlling himself.
"I am not done talking. You can't just walk away like I mean nothing to you. We are mates, remember."
I laugh loudly and harshly, looking into his eyes. "Since the moment you rejected me, we are no longer partners."
"I understand you are still upset with me. Come with me, let's return to Blood Moon Pack. This place is not safe for you, and I will explain everything to you," he adds.
I still can't believe the nerve he has. Has he forgotten how he walked me out of his house and the hurtful words he told me? Does he need a reminder of that?
"Over my dead body will I go with you, Alpha Nicklaus. I am happy with my life and so pissed off. I don't see a need for you in my life anymore. I love the peaceful and happy life I am living," I say with more seriousness.
He is stunned for a moment, seemingly stung by my words. I don't understand what he is compromising for now, perhaps to help his wife find her long-lost sister?
"I am sorry, okay? I take back my words. I didn't mean any of that. Just let me make things right again. I know it's not too late yet." He keeps trying to talk me into the settlement. I have already shut the door to love from any man. I love my newfound life as a warrior and as a mother. I don't need him anymore.
I once cried because of him, and I will not let that happen to me anymore. A man will not make me cry again.
"I am done with this conversation. Seeing you alone makes my blood boil. If you wish to make things right again, then I suggest you take your leave and pretend we never met. Go home to your family and leave me be." I resound it to his hearing. He tries to stop me again, but I push him off.
"Mom." I hear Estella's voice. Damn it, she hasn't quit her habit of following me about without being seen by me.
"Let me go." I push him off and walk to my child.
"What are you doing here, Estella? What did I tell you about this part of the forest? Do you want to get hurt or something?" I ask, caressing her hair.
"I am sorry, Mom. I got scared seeing the way that man gripped you. Is he a bad person? Will he harm us? Is he the reason you don't want me to come to the forest with you?"
"Oh darling, I will not let any harm come to you, okay? I swear on my life, I will protect you no matter what. Can you do me a favor?"
"Yes, Mom, what is it?"
"I want you to remain here while I tell him to start leaving. He is just an old friend that I helped, and my daughter is too precious. I don't want anyone to take you from me."
"Okay, mom." I kiss her cheek. If he finds out Estella is his daughter, I am pretty sure he will want to take her from me. I won't let that happen, not under my watch. I don't care about using a spell to make him sleep if it comes to that.
"Alpha Nicklaus, you need to leave now."
"I... Is she our daughter?"
I laugh to cover it up. "Why would I have a daughter for a man like you? Like I said, I am living peacefully, and in case you don't know, I am happily married. That child is not yours." I say it directly to his face and hope this time he will leave for good.
"No... I can smell that she is my Pup. My wolf tells me she's mine."
