"I can't," I replied after taking a good while to think.
It seemed that Ai had understood a lot of my emotions just from the expressions on face.
"So… what are you gonna do?" Ai asked?
"I know what to do," I said with a wry smile.
Ai only gave me a small nod as I turned around in almost slow motion.
I started running before I knew it. Each step I took made me feel heavier.
My heart beat faster than ever.
Everything felt like it was in slow motion. It was almost like a scene from a show where the main character runs after his romantic interest to stop her from leaving.
I could also hear the music playing in my head.
There's a storm coming up, and I gotta prepare myself.
Somethin's creeping inside. Everything's about to change.
Gotta face the fact that I can't walk away.
I rushed through the doors of the waiting room.
Breathing heavily, I looked around the whole place, hoping to find the face I wanted to look at.
There was no trace of her, not even Tanith.
I ran my hand across my forehead, wiping my sweat off.
I got quite a few weird stares from across the room, but I didn't care.
I ran to the guy behind the computer.
"Hey, did you see two women go past here?" I asked while still huffing.
"No," replied the guy without even looking at me.
'this isn't the best person to ask this question'
There were a few strangers, but I decided not to ask them, and instead starting running again, to the cafe like place.
This is critical
I'm feeling helpless
So hysterical
And this can't be healthy.
I literally smashed the door open, but was greeted by no one. I had to run again.
Gonna be honest, but I think I was almost through all the exercise I would have done in the entire year.
Used to have everything figured out
But it's different now
Yeah, I didn't have any idea about what I was gonna say. I was just gonna open my heart to her.
Let her know what I am truly after.
If she doesn't understand, or doesn't like it, then there is nothing I can do. I had already decided the path I was going to take; the system had only solidified my belief. It was too late to back out now.
And while one part of my brain was screaming, that 'Just cuz you were nice to her, doesn't mean that you need to give her a complete explanation about your job' well to that my rest of the brain replied. 'No, I didn't need to do it, but she and I both deserved it. I would have never treated her the way I did, if didn't feel something between us.
After what felt like an endless run around the entire area, I had given up.
And just decided to call her while returning to where I left Ai.
On my way, I passed the washrooms.
Guess who walked out of the women's washroom?
There she was, Alexandra, standing in front of the washroom's door.
Both of us paused the second we looked into each other's eyes, and then she panicked and rushed back inside.
Now I would have followed her, but she was in the women's washroom and I am led to believe that doing so would lead to more harm than good.
Tanith came out just a second later, and as soon as she saw me, she walked back in and then came back out, pushing Alexandra out with her.
"You guys need to talk." Tanith said as she walked away in the opposite direction.
"Uhm," I said with a small cough, clearing my throat before laying out the heavy matter.
"I am sorry!" Alexandra exclaimed the moment I was about to begin speaking, "It's my fault, I just felt like I really built a connection with you, but then when I thought of Abi sleeping with you, it just broke me." She said while looking away to the side.
"It's been a long while, since I have felt a connection as deep as this, so I guess I jumped too high, I knew what I was doing so… forgive me for worrying you, and can we go back, like it never happened?" Alexandra concluded with a dry, apologetic smile.
"No," I replied as I looked straight into her eyes and walked up close to her.
"What?" Alexandra asked as she jittered when she saw my face was only a few inches away from her.
"I said No, you are right, our connection. I felt it too for some reason. I don't know why but, out of all the other girls I was drawn just to you. We can't go back otherwise. I am sure that we'll just be stuck in this will they, won't they loop!" I exclaimed as I grabbed her shoulders.
"What are you-" Alexandra spoke, confused about what I was speaking.
