Roy vs Luke Part-1!

Roy now had to pick his sem-final set of pokemon. He was going to be sure to choose the best he could. He was so close to the top Eight, that he could almost smell it.

Roy gradually skimmed through a large number of Poke balls within the crate. There was a list that Roy had always paid close attention to. This list was on the wall and it showed the pokemon he could possibly draw from the crate.

This allowed Roy to almost accurately pick what pokemon he wanted from the crate. Roy chose carefully before confirming the pokemon he wanted.

Roy confirmed his pokemon with the staff and he was thus allowed to see what he had.

Roy had drawn two out of the three pokemon he wanted.

Machoke was one of the pokemon he wanted.

Houndour was another pokemon he wanted.

As for the third, he wanted to draw a Phanpy but got a Cubone instead.

"This will have to do, in fact, it should be better than Phanpy in its baby stage." Roy nodded with satisfaction. This covered most weaknesses of each other except against flying types.

With that, Roy quickly evaluated their move sets.

"I feel like Cubone and Houndour should have evolved by now. Why are they still as they are?" Roy asked the staff member curiously.

"Oh, you have a good eye." The staff member nodded and continued, "When they're about to evolve, they simply use an Everstone on them to prevent this." The staff smiled and said.

"Oh, okay, that makes sense." Roy nodded.

Some pokemon were even capable of evolving much earlier than they should. For instance, a Bagon—if fed right, groomed, and treated in the highest regard, could evolve as early as level 40 to 42 into a Salamence.

"Alright, everything is set, it's time for your next match. Much fortune to you." The staff member smiled and turned to leave. Roy was escorted to the main battlegrounds by another staff member.

Once Roy came out, he could hear the sound of cheers. Roy couldn't make out what anyone was saying in the crowd, but this type of scenario wasn't to his liking.

Roy could see Luke standing in position ready for his next match, which was him. Luke had his arms folded with a haughty sneer across his face. He was already holding a Poke ball in his hand, which was obviously the pokemon he was going to lead with.

"There's still time, you can concede now." Luke gave Roy one last chance.

"As I said, if you win, you win, if you lose, you lose," Roy said lazily.

"Good, good, you've chosen to be humiliated on public television. I'll crush you as I've done with my previous opponents!" Luke's tone was coursing with disdain, it didn't matter to him. He just wanted to advance faster and win to get into the top Eight.

Roy's expression changed to that of worry, it wasn't because of what he said but because of his Poke ball's aura.

"Quiet and get ready!" The referee glared at Luke.

Luke quickly closed his mouth, he didn't want to risk getting eliminated.

"Match ready, start!" The referee waved his flag.

"Come out!"

"Let's go!"

Both sent out their pokemon at the same time. Roy sent out Cubone, while Luke sent forth a Clefairy!

Roy made sure to quickly scanned Clefairy as soon as it appeared.

Roy's eyes widen as if he had seen the most ridiculous thing. He was getting a bad feeling about this.

This guy had those two annoying moves again, but his feelings weren't good. Clefairy was already considered a threat to his team.

"Clefairy, use Reflect, followed by Light Screen. Let's get the ball rolling!" Luke grinned cunningly.

Clefairy began to twinkle its fingers to set up.

"Attack, Cubone, use Bone Rush while rushing it for a Thunder Punch!" Roy was going to make to sure to punish this Clefairy for setting up in his face.

Cubone didn't hesitate and tossed its bone rapidly toward Clefairy, who was setting up screens.

"Endure and make sure you get those screens up!" Luke ordered resolutely.

Clefairy listened and continued setting up screens. That's when Clefairy was smashed over the forehead with a bone.

"F-fairy!" That strike was quite painful but not as much as it was expecting. The bone kept flying before rotating and coming back to strike her again!

Meanwhile, Cubone ran toward Clefairy with its little fist glinting with bolts of lightning. Clefairy didn't move, its face showed fear and nervousness. Right at that moment, it was smashed over the back of the head with that bone.

"Cle...Fare...!" Clefairy's head was leaned forward from the attack as it yelped in pain. By this point, it was now trying to get up a Light Screen. However, Cubone caught its bones and arrived in front of Clefairy and punched it in the face.

"Clefareeee~!" The attack knocked Clefairy back a few steps—canceling it from setting up a Light Screen. Cubone felt some resistance from that punch, it had hit some barrier that weakened its attack.

Cubone looked dazed a confused about that strange wall.

"Crap!" Luke frowned because Light Screen was canceled and Clefairy was now Paralyzed! Even though it had Magic Guard, this didn't prevent paralysis from shutting down the foe's muscles during battle.

"Hahaha! This is good enough, it doesn't matter once this is up. Because it's all about close combat from here on!" Luke laughed victoriously before stretching out his arm and recalling Clefairy back.

'What is this guy planning?' Roy frowned, this feeling was getting worse.

Right then, Luke tossed another Poke Ball and another pokemon appeared.

"Licky~!"

It was a Lickitung!

Roy scanned it immediately.

Roy's expression darkened, he wasn't going to do what he thought he was going to do.

"Lickitung, use Belly Drum!" Luke cackled and said.

"Attack it, stop it from setting up! Bone Rush, Thunder Punch, hit him!" Roy spoke gravely.

Cubone tossed its bone with all its might after hearing Roy's serious tone. It had no idea what was going to happen, but it must be really bad and scary, it thought.

"Roy, is it? You can't defy the inevitable, just let it happen!" Luke laughed mockingly. He was ecstatic when saw the amazing combo he could execute with these two back when he picked them.

Victory was on the horizon!

Cubone did everything, it continued to beat on Lickitung but Luke warned Lickitung to finish the move. Lickitung continued to beat on its stomach with its tongue.

Lickitung felt its vitality drop greatly, while suddenly feeling that its strength had increased dramatically. A raging red aura fluctuated around Lickitung that appeared for all to see. Its muscle expanded and was filled with vigor!

Roy's expression turned serious. He also knew that Lickitung's health had dropped dramatically, this meant one good hit could take it down.

Cubone who was originally beating on Lickitung was shocked and took a step back. It could see and feel the changes Lickitung had undergone.

Was this what the human was talking about? It thought.

"Take it down, Body Slam!" Luke pointed at Cubone coldly.

"Get out of the way and get back into position! Follow up with more Bone Rushes!" Roy hurriedly commanded.

Boom!

Cubone jumped back as fast it could before the area it was once in had completely been flattened by Lickitung's Body Slam!

"Chase it, don't let it get away! Take that little bastard down!" Luke scowled after seeing Cubone successfully escape getting smashed.

Lickitung continued with its assault, its aura rumbling and blazing with power and strength that couldn't be challenged. Cubone flung its bone towards Lickitung once it was a good distance away.

"Smack that bone out of the way!" Luke sneered and ordered.

Lickitung swiped through the air and smacked the rotating bone away with little to no effort. Along with the Reflect, it made it even easier to do so.

"Stomp that sh** into the ground just like it typing!"

"Use, Mud-Slap, and dodge afterward!" Roy hurriedly said. Cubone kicked its leg forward and some dirt was flung upward and converted into mud. Mud was flung into Lickitung's face, it tried to get the dirt off its face the minute it made contact. However, Lickitung was still coming down hard on Cubone.

Cubone tried to escape, but it was too slow and too late.

Lickitung crushed down on Cubone with an unrelenting force.

"Cuuuu~!" Cubone was crushed under Lickitung's foot. The sound of bones breaking could be heard, as it was hammered into the ground.

"Oh, my god!"

"Is it even alive after that?!"

"This is too hard to watch, I hope they can do something about this."

Many people in the audience cringed when they witnessed the scene. Some were worried, some shocked, while others turned away.

"That Luke kid is a little too ruthless, taking his anger out on that little Cubone." A few people frowned, but this was how battles were. Some pokemon would end up getting killed sometimes, but it couldn't be avoided.

"Cubone is unable to battle. Someone quickly come and evac Cubone to medic, ASAP!" The referee yelled out, but the medics were already on their way. One of the medics came over and asked Roy for Cubone's Poke ball before hurrying away.

They quickly came over and scooped up Cubone before taking it away while checking its condition. Some medics remained on the scene just for Lickitung because it might reduce another pokemon to Cubone's pitiful state as well.

Roy glared fiercely at Luke, this guy had some kind of problem. Luke only grinned in return, his eyes filled with jeers of victory.

Roy looked towards the referee, and he nodded in return—signaling Roy to continue.

Roy took out his next Poke ball and tossed it.
