Electrical Surge [1]

Before this starts, just wanted to make note of a few things. I know some of you might question my choice of pokemon, but it's just my decision, nothing more. I know there would definitely be far better pokemon out there that I didn't choose, but it's just what it is. So, if it dissatisfies you, then I apologise. I just want to write what I want to write. Plus, I wanted to use pokemon that aren't usually used.

"Alright, baby. You ready to get this underway?"

"Could you stop calling me baby? It's very damn uncomfortable..." Nate deadpanned as he stood across from a very tall and muscular male, who was standing on the other side of the field with his arms crossed. The male that stood on the other side was none other than Lt Surge, the gym leader here in Vermillion City.

Surge, as stated before, was a very tall male with a muscular build that could be seen thanks to his arms being on display along with having his jacket opened up, exposing his abdominal muscles. His military-like clothing being green, and his hair was blonde and was all spiked up.

There was a pokemon that stood beside the man as well, which Nate and Kayden could easily identify as Raichu, which was Kayden's evolutionary form. The Raichu was standing tall and smiling towards Kayden, though you could see the serious glint in its eyes.

"A baby is a baby. Well, I did see that little match you had at the shopping mall. You're not like other trainers, are you?" Surge commented as Nate just remained silent. Surge then grinned. "You're pretty strong from what I saw, you easily beat that other baby. So, I won't be holding back now."

"Doesn't matter to me. The greater the challenge, the better." Nate smirked as Surge just grinned in return. After the whole situation with Fuc- Fu King, Nate quickly made his way to the gym as he wanted to get his next badge. Kayden was standing beside Nate and smiling as well.

While Surge would naturally be looking down on Kayden, he had witnessed what the guy was capable of doing when he easily took down the machoke. Surge had only coincidentally stumbled upon the match as he was going through the mall, and was pretty surprised by what he had seen.

"Come on, Nate! You can do this!"

The loud familiar voice of Rita could be heard as she was standing on the sidelines, cheering Nate on as he faced down Surge. Chloe could be seen standing beside her, also here to support him. Since they were already with him at the mall, they decided to come along to watch. While Chloe wasn't one for battles, nor was she interested in them, she did at least want to support him.

It was the least she could do for having him help her out with the situation from before.

"Alright, let's get this underway! Let's go, Raichu!" Surge shouted as Raichu had sparks coming off of his cheeks as he stomped onto the field. Nate and Kayden calmly looked on with no signs of concern as Nate then took out one of his Pokeballs.

"Front and center, Victreebell!" As soon as Nate tossed his Pokeball forwards, Victreebell immediately emerged from within as she glared towards Raichu. Raichu glared back as he increased the amount of electricity that came off of his cheeks, trying to intimidate the grass-type.

It didn't seem to at all work as Victreebell continued to glare with even more aggression. She had already seen how scary Kayden can be when he wants to be, so the intimidation she was getting from the Raichu was pathetic compared to what Kayden could be like. Nate could be really intimidating as well when he wanted to be.

"Lt Surge, the gym leader, has chosen Raichu! The challenger, Nate, has chosen Victreebell! The battle will now be underway!" The voice of one of Surge's subordinates sounded from the speakers within the building as Surge quickly gave his command.

"Raichu, let's start this with a Thunderbolt!" Raichu immediately reacted as he jumped up before being surrounded by lightning. Victreebell didn't flinch and got ready to move, when Raichu fired a bolt of powerful electricity towards her, she quickly jumped out of the way.

"Good job, Victreebell. Use Razor Leaf." Nate calmly ordered as Victreebell's leaves glowed green before firing a number of razor-sharp leaves towards Raichu. Raichu continued to dodge them, though it was very difficult to do so due to how fast they were going and the vast amount of them.

"Raichu, you need to get in close!" Surge shouted as Raichu gritted his teeth as a few of the leaves manage to hit him. However, he pushed through and began charging forwards while trying to dodge as many of the leaves as possible. "Great job! Now, using Mega Punch!"

"You're too careless, Surge! You fell right into our trap!" Nate smirked as Surge widened his eyes when Victreebell pointed her head down, revealing the sharp teeth she had. "Use Leaf Tornado along with Poison Powder at the same time!"

Victreebell gave a loud cry before a miniature powerful tornado of leaves erupted from within her mouth, completely surrounded Raichu as it lifted him into the air as the leaves continued to strike him. However, the tornado soon gained a purple colouration. The poisonous powder just released mixed into the wind and completely surrounded Raichu.

"Smash him into the ground!" Nate ordered as Victreebel swung her head a few times before crashing the tornado of leaves directly into the ground beneath them. This caused a small explosion as Victreebell then jumped back.

"Raichu!" Surge shouted in concern as the cloud of dust began to disperse. When it did, Raichu was seen stumbling back onto his feet. However, he didn't look well at all as a number of scratched could be seen, along with his face have a purple hue. Showing that he poisoned.

Raichu gave small cries, trying to show that it was still able to battle. However, Nate just closed his eyes as he could tell Raichu was already defeated. The poison soon hit as sparks of purple lightning were released from his cheeks instead of yellow, to which he gave a cry of pain before falling to the ground unconscious.

"R-Raichu is unable to battle! The winner of the first match is Victreebell!" The voice of the subordinate stuttered slightly as they made the announcement. "Will the gym leader please send in his next and final pokemon!"

"Well done, Raichu. He's not a normal trainer..." Surge smiled nervously as he looked a the calm looking forms of both Nate and Kayden. Surge returned Raichu as he took out another Pokeball. "Well done, baby. Well, I guess I'll call you Nathan now, not anyone can beat Raichu so easily."

Surge was certain that Nate was no ordinary trainer that you would see out there beginning their journey. Trainers at this point wouldn't have even considered combining two moves together until later on, though Nate seemed familiar with doing so.

"Thanks for the compliment. The training wasn't exactly the easiest."

"I can tell. You trained that Victreebell of yours very well, it's probably the strongest one I've ever seen." Surge grinned as he stated this. On the sidelines, Rita was cheering loudly as Chloe held a smile seeing Nate's win against the powerful Raichu that sent many of Surge's challengers straight to the pokemon centre.

"Nate won pretty easily..."

"Yeah, he did! Alright, Nate! One more pokemon!" Rita grinned as she continued to cheer him on. Nate just smiled as he waved towards them, Kayden just smirking as he saw this. They then turned serious as they narrowed their eyes towards Surge.

"This next pokemon isn't like Raichu. It's way stronger." Surge warned as he held the Pokeball forwards and pointed it at Nate. "I wouldn't normally use this pokemon in this gym, mainly due to the agreement as a gym leader I have with the league. But you have proven to me that you are more than capable! I hope you're ready!"

Nate and Kayden narrowed their eyes as they remained silent as Surge primed his Pokeball, to which he then chucked it forwards with a lot of power. When the ball opened, the light soon erupted from within before forming into a pokemon on the field.

As soon as it did, Nate and Kayden widened their eyes in surprise as the gasps of both Rita and Chloe were heard from the sidelines. The pokemon that appeared was mainly silver in colouration, along with a UFO-like body structure. The pokemon had magnet-like hands and a yellow antenna sticking out of the top of its head.

"A magnezone?"

"Oh, so you know its species. You'd be right about that, it's a Magnezone!" Surge grinned as Magnezone stared blankly at Victreebell, who faltered a bit due to feeling the gaze put onto it. It could tell the magnezone was strong. "A pokemon discovered in the Sinnoh Region! I'm surprised you know."

"I like to study." Nate replied with a small smile as he then frowned while looking at Magnezone with a serious gaze. Just by looking at the pokemon, it was obviously way stronger than Raichu was. "This isn't going to be as easy as I thought..."

[No kidding...] Kayden spoke up as he looked at the hovering form of Magnezone. Being an electric-type, he was sensitive to electric currents. He could feel the vast amount of electricity inside of Magnezone. He then grinned though. [Should be interesting]

Nate grinned as well as, while he knew that Magnezone was probably not one of Surge's main pokemon, he was pretty interested to see what it could do. Magnezone was a very well-reviewed pokemon, it had quite the impressive special attack stat.

"Victreebell, I'll say this out straight." Nate voiced as Victreebell turned her head to look at him with a confused look on her face. Though, seeing her trainer's serious expression, she listened intently. "You aren't strong enough to face this pokemon, do you want to continue or not? It's your choice."

Victreebell stared at her trainer for a second as she glanced back at the steel and electric-type on the other side of the field. She already knew she probably couldn't win, and her poison wouldn't have any effect on it either. However, she gave a cry towards Nate before turning and facing Magnezone.

"Very well. I'll respect your wishes, let's do this." Nate nodded slightly as he looked towards Surge, who grinned in response as he then pointed forwards before stating. "I'm impressed by your Victreebell's determination! Let's see how far it gets you though! Use Electro Ball!"

"Dodge it, Victreebell!" Nate commanded as Victreebell jumped out of the way as a powerful ball of electricity shot towards where she once stood, causing a small explosion that kicked up dust and left sparks on the ground. "Use Razor Leaf!"

Surge just kept smiling as he watched the leaves flying towards Magnezone, who also didn't appear concerned. When the leave hit, they didn't seem to do much damage at all as Magnezone continued to stand there as the leaves struck him.

"Use Vine Whip to grab onto Magnezone!" Nate didn't seem surprised at all by the small effect the previous attack had on the opposing pokemon, he already knew grass-type moves weren't at all good against steel-types.

Victreebell shot out her vines before grabbing onto Magnezone, surprising the pokemon a bit as its focus was on the leaves that were shot before. Surge narrowed his eyes before shouting. "Using Discharge to get rid of those damn vines!"

"Slam him into the ground!" Nate quickly ordered. He already knew the risk of getting into contact with the electric-type, shocking Victreebell would be so much easier like that. While electric-types were as effective against Victreebel due to be grass, the difference in power was more than enough to make up for that.

Victreebell swung Magnezone to the ground, causing a loud impact before she unwrapped her vines, just in case any electricity Magnezone managed to build up shocked her. Nate then shouted. "Swing around the field, we can't let Magnezone get a hit on you!"

"Your Victreebell is pretty fast, impressive." Surge smiled as he watched as Victreebell continued to swing around the battlefield like Spider-Man, using her vines to grab any loose parts around the building to do so. "However, that won't help you! Magnezone, Lock On!"

[Oh shit...]

"Fuck..."

Nate clicked his tongue as he was worried that Magnezone would have that move. While Victreebell would be able to dodge the attacks enough so that she could whittle down Magenzone's stamina, it didn't matter if the pokemon had this move.

Magnezone's eyes flickered red before Victreebell widened her eyes when a red scope icon appeared on the centre of her body. Magnezone's eye then continued to glow red before it began to follow Victreebell's movements with utter ease.

"Finish this with Zap Cannon!"

"Victreebell, try to counter with Leaf Tornado!" Nate shouted as he gritted his teeth. While he knew very well that Victreebell wouldn't be able to stay conscious after the attack, he would at least try to reduce the amount of damage she would sustain.

Victreebell shot out the tornado of leaves as Magnezone fired a javelin-like concentration of electricity that shot at rocket speeds towards Victreebell. The tornado clash for only a few seconds before breaking as the attack struck Victreebell, causing her to scream in pain.

"Victreebell!" Nate cried out in concern as the shocking stopped before her body fell to the ground with a crash. They watched as the dust cleared away, showing Victreebell's body sparking constantly as she laid on the ground. They were all astonished though as Victreebell's body twitched as she slowly began to get up.

[Woah, I'm honestly amazed she's still conscious...] Kayden pretty much voiced everyone's thoughts as Victreebell stood up and glared towards Magnezone, who also appeared surprised by her actions [Though, she won't last...]

"Incredible... your Victreebell is actually still standing." Surge commented with widened eyes as he gave the grass-type an approving nod. "Even when hit by the incredible power of Zap Cannon, and from a stronger pokemon, it still stands. You have yourself a determined pokemon."

"Yes, I'm very lucky." Nate's response was completely genuine as he was honestly impressed by Victreebell's determination. That attack should have done her in, but she was still pushing forwards. "Victreebell, I know you want to win. But, come back now."

Victreebell turned towards him in astonishment as she looked at him with a small glare, it was obvious that she wanted to continue fighting. Kayden and Nate just stared at her with calm looks, though Nate soon glared as Victreebell flinched under his gaze.

"I'm saying this for your own good. You may have lasted through that last attack, but you can't another hit. I don't want you getting seriously injured." Nate stated sternly as Victreebell grumbled before hopping back over to him as Kayden absorbed the residual electricity on Victreebell's body. "You did a good job. Take a rest now."

Nate then returned Victreebell back into her Pokeball as he then looked down at Kayden, who nodded in response as he was next up to battle. He was pretty excited, Magnezone was far stronger than other pokemon he had faced so far. [Alright, this should be good!]

"Kayden, this might not be so easy. But, I'm confident we can win this."

[Yeah. This guy might be strong, but not strong enough!] Kayden grinned as he ran onto the field. Surge narrowed his eyes at Kayden, he wasn't going to underestimate the small guy. Seeing how Kayden interacted with Nate, they must have been together for a while now. Which probably means Kayden was stronger than Victreebell. Though, he wasn't certain. He wasn't going to underestimate him nonetheless.

"Can Nate beat this guy...?" Rita had stopped cheering so loudly as she stared at the field in worry. Both her and Chloe were surprised to see the appearance of Magnezone, and were amazed by its incredible power. The people of this town had only ever seen him use his Raichu, but this Magnezone was on a whole other level. "I'm worried..."

"I'm not sure. But, it's obvious that this magnezone is far stronger than this gym is supposed to allow..." While Chloe had no interest in gyms and battles, she knew that gyms had rules for the gym leader to follow. Such as being to hold back and use pokemon that weren't overly powerful as to properly test the trainers that challenge them. This magnezone was definitely much stronger.

Whether or not Nate and Kayden would be able to beat it remains to be unseen. They could really only pray that he'll be able to do so.

"Alright, Nathan! Show me what you got!"
