[Pokemon Speech]

Nate and Kayden were now walking around in the Cerulean Gym, heading towards the area where the arena should be. It had been around two days since they had arrived and had been training, which was the time it had apparently taken for Ash and his friends to finally get here.

The reason they were now entering the gym was that they had seen Ash heading in the direction of the place, which they instantly knew that Misty was most likely finally here. Meaning, they could get their battle for the badge underway!

Speaking of which, that very same person had now entered their vision as they could see Misty walking through the halls towards the same area they were. The girl noticed their presence as she turned to see the both of them walking towards her.

"Oh, Nate! You're here as well?" Misty asked in surprise. She had honestly expected Nate to have already gotten his badge from her sisters and would have been long gone from the city already. "Haven't you guys gotten the badge yet?"

"No. We wanted to do some training before challenging the gym. We wanted to be prepared before challenging." Nate explained, though it was a lie. He already knew full well that the sisters would have just given him a badge, and that would piss him off.

Misty nodded her head in understanding.

"I see. It's good to be prepared." Misty smiled. They then both walked together towards the arena as they continued to talk. "I was just heading towards the arena since I saw Ash heading here as well. You're challenging the gym now, right?"

"Yep, that's the plan. By the way, did you happen to run into Leaf at all?"

"Leaf? Oh, yeah. She ended up beating Brock in a gym battle while Ash was still training. Not entirely sure where she is right now though.

[Wow, that idiot actually managed to beat Brock?]

"Surprising... Anyway, Leaf can be pretty slow when she wants. She's probably enjoying the route while she's heading here, she's never really in any rush." Nate rolled his eyes as he heard what Misty said. "She must be a decent trainer if she beat Brock the first time round."

"Yeah, definitely better than Ash."

Nate just chuckled at the blunt statement as they continued making their way towards the arena. Which it didn't take long before they arrived at what appeared to be a massive pool with many spectator seats surrounding the place.

The area that they had walked out of was one of the many hallways that led to the spectator seats, with all three of them looked around. It didn't take long before they all saw five individuals standing near the edge of the pool talking.

Two of them were Ash and Pikachu, while the other three were Misty's sisters, also known as the Sensational Sisters. Daisy, Violet, and also Lily. Daisy was the blonde girl, Violet was the girl with deep blue hair, and Lily was the girl with pink hair.

"You want the badge, right? Take it."

"But, I kinda want to earn my badge..."

"It's a badge, just take it."

"How dare she..." Misty gritted her teeth as she shook her fist in front of her face. It was ironic as her eyes were full of flames of pure rage, causing Nate and Kayden to sweatdrop at her as they could feel the heat radiating off of her. "That's it...!"

Nate and Kayden watched as the girl stomped her way down the stairs towards the railings of the spectator area, to which they looked at one another before calmly following after her. They then saw her take a deep breath, glare still present.

"Hold it right there!" Misty's booming voice sounded out throughout the entire room as Ash flinched heavily, along with Pikachu, as all of them turned their attention upwards towards Misty. Ash was surprised to see the three of them standing on the spectator seats.

"Misty and Nate?!"

Ash's Pikachu also cried out in surprise when he saw Kayden.

Misty then jumped on down from the seats, which wasn't that high so the impact wasn't that bad. Nate and Kayden followed after her with calm looks on their faces as Misty placed one of her hands on her hip as she glared at her sisters.

"Daisy, if you aren't willing to battle him, then I will!"

"M-Misty, what are you talking about...?"

"You wouldn't know, Ash. But, I'm also one of the gym leaders here at the Cerulean City Gym. I'm also one of the sensational sisters here!"

"Actually, she's just a runt. There are only three sensational sisters." Lily, the pink-haired sister, deadpanned as she corrected her sister. Misty just twitched her eyebrow as she glared at her with a hateful gaze. "Anyway, what are you doing back so soon?"

"Yeah. Didn't you say that you weren't going to come back until you were a great pokemon trainer? I'm pretty sure that I heard you right."

"W-Well, I guess I did say something like that..."

"Misty, can we just get this underway?" Nate sighed as his right eye twitched. While he didn't say it, he really had no interest or business at all with other people's family issues. All Kayden and him wanted were to get their badge and continue on their way.

"O-Oh, sorry, Nate."

"Oh~, who's this?" Daisy seemed to purr as she scooted over next to Nate, to which the male rose an eyebrow in confusion. The others just watched as she did so. She seemed to look at him flirtatiously. "From what you said, you're looking for a badge as well, huh? How about I just give you one and we can have some fun sometime~?"

Nate unconsciously clenched his fist as his eyes became shadowed as the girl started to trace her fingers along his neck with a seductive look on her face. Kayden noticed his expression and frowned with a nervous look, he knew his friend very well and could tell he might snap if she continues.

There were few things that could actually anger Nate to a big extent, and one of them was a woman who would seduce someone even if they didn't know them and would be willing to give their body to that person so easily. Kayden didn't like those people also, but Nate was on a whole other level in that hate department.

"Fuck off." Nate stated with a cold tone as well as a cold look in his eyes as Daisy blinked in surprise as she smartly backed off. The others seemed shocked by his tone and words, especially Misty, Pikachu and Ash as they had always seen him as a calm and kind individual from what they have seen of him.

To Ash, he could now understand that Nate was truly trying to help him before with his blunt words, the words didn't hold arrogance or any insulting tone. However, he didn't think that Nate could actually act so cold to someone as he had done just now.

[Nate, calm down...]

Nate's glare went down to Kayden, who just stared back with his own serious expression as Nate then gritted his teeth slightly before sighing as he shook his head. He had a small frown on as he then looked at Misty. "Misty, let's just get a move on."

"R-Right..." Misty stuttered slightly as she remembered the cold look on Nate's face. She didn't ever expect a male to coldly brush off someone as beautiful as her sister, but Nate did just that so easily. He wasn't even affected by the girl's seduction. "As I was saying, I'll be taking them on for the badge if you aren't!"

"Go ahead, you are the only one with pokemon able to battle." Daisy shrugged as she still felt some fear from the glare she had received, though she did try to keep it down. Misty nodded her head as she then looked at Nate and Ash.

"Then I'll take on Nate first before Ash."

"Wh-What? But, why does he get to go first?!"

"Because I need to be at my best condition when battling Nate. You, not so much." Misty bluntly deadpanned as Ash face-faulted with a dumbfounded expression on his face. Pikachu just patted Ash's back with a sweatdrop. Nate just nodded his head, along with Kayden.

As soon as all that was decided, Ash, Pikachu, and the three sensational sisters all stayed on the sidelines of the pool as they prepared to watch the battle. Nate and Kayden were standing on one of the pool blocks as Misty stood on another on the other side of the pool.

"Are you ready, Nate? This will be a two on two pokemon battle, the first person to have both their pokemon unable to battle loses!" Misty explained as Nate just nodded his head in understanding. "Then I'll start off by sending in Staryu!"

They all watched as the pokemon that emerged onto one of the other pool blocks was a pokemon that looked like a five-pointed star with a golden face with a red jewel in the center. The pokemon was of course a staryu, a water-type, obviously.

"I apologise. I'm not in the best of moods at the moment, Misty. I'm going to need to finish this fast, I need to burn off some steam." Nate stated with a blank look on his face, Misty gulped as she glanced at her sister. Misty didn't hear any arrogance coming from Nate's voice when he said that. "Golisopod, front and centre!"

When Nate tossed his pokeball forwards, the ball opened up as Golisopod was soon formed onto one of the other pool blocks. When he emerged, he gave a powerful scream that shook the waters of the pool as Staryu flinched heavily when Golisopod turned his attention towards it.

"Wh-What pokemon is that?" Misty stuttered as she stared wide-eyed at the unfamiliar pokemon in front of her. Nate calmly took out his pokedex before holding it up high, allowing for the voice of the device to sound out to all of them in the room.

[Golisopod, the Hard Scale Pokemon. A Bug and Water Type. It will do anything to win, taking advantage of every opening and finishing opponents off with the small claws on its front legs]

"A-A bug...?!" Misty seemed to flinch back in fear as Nate and Kayden just rose their eyebrows in confusion at the girl's reaction. It seemed as though she was afraid of bug types. They did vaguely remember such a thing when they watched the anime. "A water-type that's a... b-bug?"

"Heads up, Misty! Use First Impression!"

Misty widened her eyes when Golisopod seemed to disappear from his position in a split second before they all saw him striking Staryu with his right claw, causing it to crash into the water. Misty gasped at the power behind Golisopod's body.

"Staryu, blast it away with Water Gun!" Staryu soon jumped out from the water before blasting a stream of water from one of its limbs as Golisopod just stared at the attack. Misty then quickly added. "Use that momentum and use Tackle!"

[Again, what's with the Tackle attacks being known by gym leaders?]

"True..." Nate just watched calmly as Staryu began spinning rapidly as it fell towards where Golisopod was standing. The Water Gun attack having caused a big splash upon having made contact. The others that were watching all stared impressed by Misty's move.

"Wow, she has gotten better."

"Yeah, using the fact that she was in the air to get more force into her attack when falling."

"She did have to have something, we got the looks in the family after all."

However, their amazement soon turned to shock as the big splash of water went away as Staryu was now seen stuck in one of the claws of Golisopod. Both of the attacks having absolutely no effect on him as he had managed to get a grip on Staryu despite the pokemon spinning rapidly.

"Wh-What, but how?!"

"Golisopod isn't just strong physically. He has an incredibly powerful exterior, what do you think those shells surrounding his body are for?" Nate explained simply. It was true that the shell of Golisopod was incredibly powerful, it was stated that the shell was rumored to be as powerful as diamonds. "Toss Staryu away and finish this with Pin Missile!"

Golisopod then tossed Staryu into the air before a number of purple and white missiles fired out from the shells on his back, all heading towards the defenseless Staryu. Staryu was struck by the missiles in a small explosion before falling into the water.

"Staryu!" Misty shouted in concern. Staryu soon floated up to the surface, the red jewel-like eye now being dull, signaling that the pokemon was unconscious. Misty gave a sigh as she saw this. "Thanks for your hard work, Staryu. Take a good rest..."

"Woah... that pokemon's so strong..." Ash muttered in awe as he stared at the large imposing form of Golisopod. The bug-type gave a loud cry as he raised both of his claws into the air. Pikachu gave a small cry of his own, face full of awe as well.

"Alright, I'm counting on you, Starmie!" Misty declared as the next pokemon soon appeared on her side of the battlefield. THe pokemon looked like two five-pointed starfish placed together, purple ones too. It also had the same golden formation on the front along with the red jewel.

"Come on back, Golisopod."

"Wait, how come you're sending him back?" Misty asked in confusion as she watched as Nate returned Golisopod back into his pokeball. She was honestly glad on the inside as she had her doubts her starmie could have beaten it.

"I don't want Golisopod to have all of the fun. Kayden needs some battling too." Nate gave a small smile as Kayden nodded his head with a smirk as he jumped forwards onto one of the pool blocks. Ash's Pikachu could be heard cheering when he did so. "I hope you're ready, Misty."

"We won't go down without a fight! Starmie, use Water Pulse!" Misty ordered as Starmie then fired off small round pulses of water from its top appendage towards Kayden. Nate then calmly gave his command as well. "Kayden, destroy them with Iron Tail!"

[Too easy!] Kayden grinned as he jumped towards the attack before his tail quickly changed into iron as he swung it at fast speeds, knocking down the attacks with ease. He used the last one to boost himself into the air.

With the momentum from gravity, Kayden shot down towards Starmie before giving a powerful Iron Tail that smacked Starmie down onto the pool block. Kayden jumped back onto his own block as Starmie felt dizzy from the impact, evident by the stumbling.

"Starmie, get into the water!" Misty shouted in a panic. Starmie managed to do so, though with difficulty. Misty could only panic since she could tell that Kayden's attack may be even stronger than Golisopod, which such physical power shouldn't be seen in a pikachu. It was honestly a miracle that Starmie wasn't knocked out just by that single attack.

Of course, she also had to think that it was possible that Kayden was holding back. After all, Kayden had no reason to actually cause any fatal damage to her pokemon. It was true, if Kayden used all of his power, he may have seriously injured Starmie to a fatal extent.

"Water pokemon fight their best in the water. They have the advantage!" Misty smiled with some confidence. Though, she felt a bad feeling swell up inside her when she heard both Kayden and Nate give a small amused laugh at her statement. "Wh-What is it?"

"That may be true, but there are many ways to take away that advantage." Nate smiled as he stared into the water, Starmie's glowing red jewel of an eye shining beneath the water's surface. "Kayden, force Starmie out by using Electric Terrain!"

Kayden grinned before releasing a shockwave of electricity from his body before it soon spread throughout the entire room, causing everything to gain a glow of yellow electricity. The water seemed to also turn a bit yellow as sparks constantly came off of the water's surface.

It didn't take long before Starmie jumped out of the water in panic, its body releasing small sparks of electricity as the red jewel of an eye seemed to flash a few times. The water continued to spark as Kayden grinned while standing on the pool block.

The spectators looked around at the move that had just been used, none of them had ever heard of it before and were staring at the yellow atmosphere in awe. Pikachu seemed to look at his hands, he could feel his gathered electricity seemingly having spiked in power.

For Kayden, it seemed as though the electricity from the Electric Terrain was being drawn to him more than usual. This was all thanks to his ability, which was Lightning Rod. The ability was rare for a pikachu to have, most had the ability Static instead.

"Kayden, finish this with Electro Ball!"

[This is checkmate!]

Kayden began forming a ball electricity on the end of his tail, which sparked constantly. Kayden then jumped up before spinning a few times before sending the ball towards Starmie, who was unable to move in time before it was caught in a small explosion.

Misty did cry out in concern towards her pokemon, though she was relieved when the smoke from the explosion cleared up. Her starmie didn't have any serious injuries, but was more than evidently defeated as it didn't move and was just unconscious on the pool block.

She already had a feeling there was really no chance of her winning, but she was at least happy that she gave it her all during the battle. She also knew that Nate was definitely a talented trainer. After this battle, that knowledge was only that more true.
