Chapter 051

Alex was feeling very tired. He had just walked three hours, then had the crap scared out of him by a very intimidating Pidgeot, then had to walk three more hours. Thankfully, Professor Oak was understanding enough to give him some time off. He was asked to report at 4.

He looked at his Pokedex for the time.

"1:30. I should be able to have lunch and get a couple of hours of rest before I have to meet Professor Oak" though Alex. He walked towards the back of the lab, as the dining area was present there. Here, food was cooked not only for all the staff of Oak Corall, but also for all the Pokemon on the ranch.

Suddenly, he felt something heavy knock into his chest. He stepped back, and regarded the Pokemon that knocked into him and scanned it.

"A Pokemon with indigo potential! The colour is very light, but it is indigo nonetheless! How I wish I could just throw a Pokeball! But unfortunately, it seems to have been trained. It must belong to someone in Oak Corall" thought Alex regretfully.

"Belll dumm" said the Shiny Beldum that suddenly appeared before him.

"Hey there little guy! And what are you doing here outside the ranch? Did you get bored and escape or something?" Alex asked, patting the head of Beldum as its eye regarded him.

"Belllll" said the Pokemon as it started to go in circles around his head. It then started going faster and faster, until he got dizzy following it around with his eyes.

"Beldum stop!" yelled Alex clutching his head.

The Beldum stopped, and looked at him then its eyes started glowing. Alex could see almost invisible waves radiating from its head, but could figure out what it was doing. It came closer and closer to him while doing so, and eventually touched his head. He seemed to feel a burst of some energy entering his head, and heard a cry that vaguely resembled "Why?"

"Why did I ask you to stop spinning around my head? It's because I felt dizzy. Why would you do that anyway?" asked Alex?

"Beldum looked at him, before releasing the invisible waves and moving towards him again. When it touched his head, he again felt like the previous time, with the voice now saying, " No. Why?"

I don't understand you Beldum. You probably can't communicate with your Psychic energy that well. Maybe we can ask Alakazam to translate later. But for now, I have to go and have lunch" said Alex, walking forward.

"Bell" he heard the cry behind him again. He looked back to see the Beldum following him. He stopped. The Beldum stopped. He started moving, and the Beldum did the same. Alex then shrugged and went towards the dining area.

As he walked into the dining area with Beldum following him, he spotted Professor Oak having lunch inside.

"Good afternoon Professor" greeted Alex.

"Good afternoon Alex," said Professor Oak looking up. He caught sight of the Beldum behind Alex and stilled, then lowered his head thoughtfully."

"Professor, I found this Beldum roaming outside. It started following me. Is there somewhere I should take it and leave it?" asked Alex.

"The Beldum usually stays quietly in the corner of the ranch usually. It doesn't like contact with people or Pokemon, due to some bad memories I am afraid. I don't know for sure why it decided to go out today" said Professor Oak.

"Professor, who is this Beldum's trainer?" asked Alex.

"No one actually. It doesn't have a trainer" said Professor Oak.

"No one?" questioned Alex, looking at the Beldum with eyes full of desire.

"This doesn't mean it's a wild Pokemon. It belongs to me" said Professor Oak.

"Umm Professor Oak......" said Alex uncertainly. He wanted to ask for the Beldum, but he didn't know how to ask. He already was given a Shiny Charmander earlier, he couldn't keep demanding more from Professor Oak.

"I can see the desire in your eyes, Alex. I do not have any interest in training this Beldum, so it is not out of the question to grant it to you. But it's not happening for free this time. You have to earn it" said Professor Oak.

Alex looked at Beldum longingly. He understood what Professor Oak was trying to imply. This Beldum was up for grabs in the exchange system. If it was a few years later, he had enough confidence to obtain it, but a Shiny pseudo-legendary Pokemon was not something other people would pass up easily. It would probably be gone by then.

"Actually, there is no hurry. Beldum has a notoriously slow growth rate. It is almost useless in battle before it evolves, and it needs at least 5 years for that to happen. I don't plan to put it up for exchange before it is close to evolution" said Professor Oak.
