The Reason

Axel yawned and stretched his arms. He had just woken up from his bed. He did his normal routine of the showering and getting ready. Axel had planned to roam around the place for today. He would depart to his home tomorrow. He called the room service for food.

Axel was surprised when he heard the knock just 2 minutes after the call.

'Is it room service? I just called like 2 minutes ago.' He thought and proceed to open the door. Behind the door stood a trolley of food and wine. There were 2 men waiting for him. 1 was a young guy wearing a waiter uniform while the other was a fat man in a suit.

"Good morning, Mr. Axel. I am the owner of this old hotel. My name is Remu. Here is your breakfast. I took the liberty of adding some stuffs that you might like. Fare not, everything here is free for you", said the old man.

"Why is everything free for me?", asked Axel with a surprised voice.

"How can I ask for money from the successor?"

"The successor?"

"Yes. Aren't you the successor of Prof. Oak?"

"Oh, thanks for your service. Can you do me a big favor?", asked Axel. The man nodded his head.

"Can you just not disclose that I am staying at your hotel now? I don't want the media nonsense."

"Of course, it would be my pleasure. But can I have a pic with you?"

"Yes of course no problem."

If anyone was going to offer him free food and lodging for a pic with him, he was not going to refuse. But he didn't know that the press conference would have such an impact. Axel then took the food. The food was lavish and the drinks were even better. He noticed a newspaper near the tray and decided to read it.

Axel was shocked.

He was on the front page. There was a big picture of him detailing almost every part of his life. His home, his family, most of his journey and many more.

He opened the TV and his fear had became the reality. He was on every news channel. Most of them were even doing live board cast from his town. What the hell was going on?

He could see a lot of reporters near his house. Was this what happens when someone becomes famous? He hated it instantly.

Fuming with anger he dialed a number and the ring went on…

"Hello kid, how are you this fine morning?"

"Oak, what the hell is happening? Why did you announce me this soon? There are reporters at my house disturbing them. ANSWER ME.."

Axel was furious. Yes, he had expected to be famous but he had not expected reporters to disturb his family. They had crossed a line.

"Wo wo wo… calm down will ya. There is an important reason for my announcement."

"And what is that important reason? do tell."

"I can't tell you that, at least not on the phone. As for those reporters on your home, I would have them removed."

"You mean to tell me that you cannot even BOTHER TO TELL ME THE REASON WHEN I AM GETTING ALL THE BURN?"

"I told you, Axel, the reason is too important to tell you over the phone. The league must be tapping our phones already. If you want to know the reason come to Pallet town and don't worry I will take care of your family."

Axel calmed down after hearing Oak's reply but he was still not done.

"Oak aren't you the Pokemon master? You are the league. Why are you afraid of them?"

"You are still a kid, kid. Do you think that I became a Pokemon master without making any enemies? Let's talk about this in the future. What do you plan to do now?"

"I was planning to go home but I don't think that is possible right now."

"You are right. Lay low for a few days. Aren't you in the league right now? Why don't you look around? It is a fantastic place. I will talk to you later. I have a meeting to attend.", said Oak and hung up the phone.

Axel didn't know what to do right now. He could not go home right now, the reporters would eat him alive. He was never a people person and talking to the reporters made him nervous. Oak had also said to law low for a few days. He thought to roam around the league for a few days and then return home.

He called his family to know if they were okay. Surprisingly the reporters had already left his house premises. Oak worked very fast. They were just shocked by all this fiasco but they were all okay. Sighing in relief he decided to sleep on his bed. Just as he closed his eyes, his phone rang again.

"Hello"

"Hello Axel, it's me Lorelai."

"Oh hey Lorelai, I think you heard the news."

"Yes, who hasn't? The entire world has heard the news."

"Tck…" Axel clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"First of all congratulations on being the successor of the Pokemon master. I am sad that you didn't tell us about this before. I thought we were friends."

"Sorry. But I thought keeping it a secret would be wise."

"Anyways, that is not the only reason for my call."

"Oh, when what is it?"

"I don't know how to say this, but Lance has been kidnapped."

"WHAT???"
