Dragon Evolution

Axel had not been able to teach Bagon any new moves. All the moves that it had learned were egg moves. Bagon didn't have great versatility in its moves. 

Togetic started with 'Flamethrower'. Bagon was able to dodge the move and it also used 'Defense curl' to increase its defense. When Bagon started to train on this simple move, Axel realized that the move was not so simple. 

'Defense curl' would basically let the user curl up and hide its weak spots. That would raise its defense. This was the main concept of the move. When Bagon used the move just now, a white light gathered around it and it positioned itself in a defensive position. If Axel could capitalize and cross the threshold of the move, then it might be a powerful defensive move in the future.

Bagon used 'Head butt' and 'Fire fang' but these movse were easily dodged by Togetic. Axel could see that Togetic was not taking this battle seriously. It should not have to take it seriously cause it was in an advantageous position. However, Axel didn't want his Pokemon to be relaxed during battle.

The battle went on and Bagon started to accumulate injuries. Togetic didn't use any physical type moves cause it knew that even though Bagon had not evolved, its physical powers were very high for a dragon-type Pokemon. Bagon would basically use its head to defend against any attacks.

It had already received 2 'Flamethrowers' and 1 'Dazzling gleam' and it was on the verge of fainting. The crowd had expected the battle to be finished but then something amazing happened.

Ding!

Bagon has learned a new move. Name the move.

 ---

 'What? I have not taught it any such things. Did it learn itself like Togetic?', thought Axel.

'Tell me the move description', said Axel.

 ---

Ding!

The move would cover the head and neck area of Bagon in blue light and it would heighten the defense of its head and neck area. It is a dragon-type move.

 ---

 'Damn! Bagon had exceeded my expectations. Name it, 'Dragon head'.', said Axel.

 ---

Ding!

The move has been named.

Ding!

Bagon agility had ranked up to S rank.

Ding!

Bagon has fulfilled all the conditions for evolution.

Ding!

Bagon is evolving….

Axel knew that Bagon was close to evolving but he never expected that it would evolve during the competition. Since Bagon was evolving, Togetic used 'Nasty plot' and 'Wish' to increase its stats. It was not starting to get serious. 

This was the first time for most of the crowd to see a dragon-type Pokemon evolving. They were taking multiple pictures and videos of its evolution. 

The evolution took 3-4 minutes and after that, it was completely evolved. 

Everyone could see a quadrupedal Pokemon that resembled a pupal stage. There were bone structures covering its body, which formed a shell with two openings and three ridges on top. One opening was in front, revealing two yellow eyes, while the other opening was in the back. Its gray legs were visible protruding from underneath the shell, each with a short red stripe on the inner surface. 

It was Shelgon. 

Since it had just evolved, it looked like it could not control its emotions. It was feeling all these new powers in its body. Its body structure had completely changed and it still getting used to it. It gave a loud roar and directly stared at Togetic. It started to run but its body was very heavy now and since it had just evolved, it could not maintain proper balance.

Togetic didn't take any advantage of that. It just stood high in the air and watched it come to its senses. After 4 minutes, it was able to control its emotions and it was also able to move properly.

Togetic was not going to take advantage of such a thing. It had its pride. How could it raise its head and look Shelgon in its eyes if it took that advantage?

The battle started again but this time Togetic was serious. They battled for 5 minutes and the Togetic finally won.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Togetic has finally won the common rank Pokemon section. Let's give it a round of applause.", shouted Agnes in excitement.

The crowd cheered with enthusiasm. Even though it was a common-rank Pokemon battle, it was very exciting. The willpower of Riolu, the evolution of Shelgon, and the power of Togetic influenced everyone. 

"Since the common rank section has finished. We will be starting the uncommon-rank Pokemon battle immediately. The Pokemon that would be participating in the uncommon rank Pokemon section would be shown on the screen below.

1. Primeape (Axel)

2. Pidgeot (Cerlin)

3. Golduck (Lyra)

There are only 3 Pokemons that are participating in the uncommon rank Pokemon section. Now, I would request one of you to come over here to select the battle sequence."

A young boy was called to the stand. The kid looked nervous in coming to the stage but seeing that Agnes was acting like a good host, he felt relieved. 

The battle sequence was already established.

Primeape Vs Pidgeot

Golduck.

Since there were only 3 Pokemons, Golduck got a chance to reach the final stage immediately.

The battle between Primeape and Pidgeot was exciting to watch. However, the battle ended very quickly. Primeape had been trained very carefully by Axel while Pidgeot was not trained with such intensity. Primeape took the lead of the battle and the battle was over after a few minutes. 

The break was announced again and the final battle was going to resume after 15 minutes. 

Axel wanted to see who was going to win the final battle. Primeape had just evolved and it might not be as powerful and experienced as Golduck. However, he didn't know how good this Golduck really was.

"Let the battle begin!!"

Primeape started with 'Focus energy' while Golduck used 'Rain dance'. Golduck had an annoying hidden ability that would increase its speed during rain. It was a water-type Pokemon and also had some psychic abilities.

Both of them started with a physical contest. Golduck used 'Waterfall' while Primeape used 'Focus punch'. None of them dodged the attack and both of them were hit. However, Primeape had a great defense. So, it immediately used 'Thunder punch'.

Being a water-type Pokemon, it was weak to electric type. Golduck also realized that it may not be able to against Primeape in a physical fight. So, it opted to use special type moves. 

It used 'Ice beam' which was dodged by Primeape and then it was able to use 'Calm mind' one time to increase its special attack and special defense. 

Primeape wanted to get close to Golduck but Golduck was going farther and farther away. Golduck was not only fast due to 'Rain dance' but it was also very nimble. So, it was able to dodge most of Primeape's attacks and then use its own special type of move. 

However, Primeape also had some special type moves. Realizing that it may not be able to catch it, it used 'Earthquake' which affected Golduck. Taking advantage of time, Primeape was able to use 'Bulk up' one time to increase its attack and defense. 

Then it used its maximum speed to use 'Close combat'. Seeing that Golduck had no choice, it used 'Hydro pump' straight on Primeape's face. Primeape was flown off by the attack and crashed to the ground. 

After using 'Hydro pump', Golduck did need to wait for some time to recover. Yet, it recovered very fast. The stones and rocks around Golduck started to rise up and its speed increased and hit Primeape. 

Everyone expected Primeape to not stand up but to everyone's surprise, it stood up and it looked ready to fight.

The main problem with Primeape was that its attacks were getting dodged. Golduck looked very experienced in battle. Axel could tell that it was going to rank up to rare rank soon and Primeape had just entered uncommon rank.

Golduck then started to use 'Hypnosis' which was a bad strategy due to Primeape's ability 'Vital spirit'. 

The battle went on for another 5 minutes and finally, Primeape lost.

Primeape might be strong due to its training but it had very little battle experience. Axel had noted down a lot of things for their future training and this battle had helped Axel and Primeape in many ways. 

Axel didn't consider this as a loss. He didn't feel bad about it. It was a sort of practical training for his Pokemons.

"Golduck has won the uncommon rank Pokemon section. Let's give it a round of applause."

The crowd cheered for Golduck. This was a good battle. There were many strategies used. Young trainers were excited to see it. Serious trainers were also learning a lot from these battles.

"Next, we will move around to the rare rank Pokemon section. There are only 2 Pokemons in the rare rank category. This will be the final match of the day. The last battle will start after 30 minutes. 

Do enjoy all the exotic foods and drinks."

The competition had started at around 11 a.m. and now it was around 3 p.m. The first day was going to end a bit faster than the coming days. 

The ticket price on the the first day was the cheapest and then it would increase on the next day, then the next day, and the ticket price was the highest on the last day.

This was the final battle due to Dragonite. It was Agnes's Pokemon and it was famous around the city. Agnes was also famous and it was her only Pokemon so many people wanted to see this battle.

Obviously, all of them wanted Dragonite to win.

Since this was her Pokemon battle, Agnes didn't comment on it. It was Noah who took the stand. Agnes felt that she would be biased for her Pokemon.

Axel also wanted to see the power of her Dragonite and whether it could beat Milotic. He wanted to gouge how good of a trainer Hymer was.

"Let the battle begin!!!"

Dragonite started with 'Dragon dance'. While Milotic used 'Aqua ring' and 'Rain dance'.

The dark cloud started to form around. Dragonite was fast. It gave a huge roar looking at the sky. Nobody knew why it did it cause nothing happened but Axel knew that it was using 'Draco meteor'. The move would take some time to activate.

Dragonite then used 'Wing attack' and with the added speed from 'Dragon dance', it rushed towards Milotic. Milotic also used 'Dragon tail' and clashed it with Dragonite.

Dragonite won that clash by a huge margin as Milotic was crashed on the ground by that move. After that, Dragon used 'Dragon claw' and rushed towards Milotic. Milotic understood that it could not win against Dragonite with a physical fight, so it decided to battle with its special attack moves.

It used 'Water pulse'. The move was basically a downgrade version of 'Hydro pump' but fortunately for Milotic, the move not only stopped 'Dragon claw' but also was able to confuse Dragonite for a few seconds.

Milotic took that advantage and then its whole body started to shine in pink. It then gave a cute roar which gave a comfortable feeling. Axel could tell that the move was 'Disarming voice'. This move would make the target comfortable and relaxed which was very bad during the battle. 

While it was being confused, Dragonite came under the effect of the move and Milotic used 'Hydro pump' which hit Dragonite on its face. The dragon Pokemon was flown off by the attack and it crashed on the ground. 

The crowd was surprised by the change of events. It looked like Milotic now had the upper hand. 

This time Dragonite was hurt. It was a dragon-type Pokemon and it could take a lot of hits but being hit by multiple attacks would surely injure it.

Milotic then used 'Icy wind'. A cold wind started to blow as it was raining, the wind became more visible and then suddenly mist was created. Dragonite now would have a hard time spotting Milotic.
