S5E21: Family Matters

"Is this supposed to make me more considerate of you?" asked Dawn's mother with a raised eyebrow. "Because it wont many of the people around here only have one parent or are being raised by a grandparent so too bad so sad."

"Mother!" exclaimed Dawn taken back by her mother's rude behavior.

"It's alright Dawn I've grown accustomed to ridicule and mocking either because of my desire to fore go the poke gym challenge or because of who my real parents are or because I've never evolved Joy here or because I don't push my pokemon to be the best or only use powerful pokemon." replied Foxx with a smile.

"Still she doesn't need to act so snobby." huffed Dawn with her arms cross as Joy tried to climb up into her lap.

"Now you listen her young lady if you think I'm just going to let you come in here with this thug and act all uptight you have another thing coming." snapped Dawn's mother standing up and turning to face Foxx only to find him heading for the door as she was adding, "As for you mister you…"

"Are not welcome? I figured." called Foxx from the doorway. "Dawn I'll be in town with my parents when you're done talking with your mom bring Joy and we can have dinner before we call it a night before heading on our way."

"Who do you think you are giving my daughter orders?" snapped Dawn's mother only for Foxx to walk out of the house closing the door behind him to which she angrily added "You come back here mister I'm not through yelling at you yet!"

"Mother his not going to come back. He's been cast out and made fun of so many times that he'd rather just walk away then fight anymore." sighed Dawn from the place where she'd been sitting holding Joy. "And he was trying to be very respectful in coming here in the first place."

"So he is a thug, why else would he be cast out and mocked so much if he wasn't?" questioned Dawn's mother, "You have to understand dear I only want what's best for you."

"No mom you don't understand. Foxx's parents are the reason he is thrown out and teased everywhere he goes." replied Dawn.

"Professor Oak is a great man and very wise why would people turn him down or make fun of him because Professor Oak was his father?" asked Dawn's mother as she slowly grew more and more confused with every minute.

"Professor Oak is only his adopted father, it is his real parents that are the ones that cause him to be mocked and made fun of." replied Dawn, "And you know what he respects them and cares for them thus he has walked out of high end restaurants just because someone didn't like his parents."

"Who are his real parents?" asked Dawn's mother partially confused and partially concerned for Foxx.

"Former Team Rocket members Jessie and James." replied Dawn, "And before you ask, yes we're sure they are former members as Foxx was there when Geovonni threw them out. Foxx also helped them fight their way back into the Team Rocket compound and get back their Pokemon partners." explained Dawn. "You see mom, he's not like any other guy I've met. He cares about his parents and his pokemon."

"Yah well that still doesn't make him good for you." huffed Dawn's mother with her arms crossed. "Especially if that means he will most likely take you down with him."

"You know mom, that's were you're wrong. He has given up a lot to achieve what he has as well as to protect others and defend his parents." replied Dawn standing to her feet forgetting that Joy was still on her lap. "All the pokemon he has were all rescues from either being abandoned in the wild or abused by mean trainers."

"Vuuuuul!" exclaimed Joy as she tumbled from Dawn's lap before gracefully landing on her feet to which she added a puff of smoke and a, "Pix!"

"Sorry Joy I forgot you were on my lap dear." apologized Dawn bending down to scoop her up into her arms before turning to face her mother and add, "You know we came here in hopes of you and Foxx getting to know each other and us having a nice few days to a week together but you know what maybe I was wrong to think you could think about someone other then yourself for once."

"Now you just wait one second missy that is no way to talk to your mother." snapped Dawn's mother standing to her feet and glaring at Dawn.

"I'm sorry but I've had it with the way you treat my friends. Foxx is a smart and cute guy and I really like him. I'm sorry he doesn't fit your plan for my life but he fits into mine." snapped Dawn as she turned and started for the door only to pause with the door open and more calmly added, "If you change your mind mom we will be in town until the morning when we will leave to meet back up with Ash even though it'll be almost a week early but hay you got to meet Foxx as he also got to meet you."

"Dawn don't be like this." sighed Dawn's mother slowly letting her arms fall to her side as she realized just how much she had screwed up.

"You know having met all of the parental figures in his life I sadly would have to say mom that part of me would trade places with him for some of them may not be perfect but they at least are supportive and caring." sighed Dawn before once more taking a hold of the doorknob and adding, "See you around mom."

From there Dawn sadly closed the door behind her and started to walk down the walk way back towards the hotel where Foxx and his family where staying for the night though as she approached the room it had dawned on her that the plan was for her and Foxx to stay at her mom's house while Foxx's parents stayed in the hotel so there was most likely not enough beds for all of them.
