Pokémon Dark Edition: Arcane’s Rise

Arcane, a typical teenage boy with a love for Pokémon, wakes up one morning to find himself transformed into a four-legged creature with fur and a bushy tail. His initial shock turns to bewilderment as he realizes he has become a Hisuian Zorua, a Pokémon known for its dark illusionary powers and ghostly appearance. To his delight, he discovers he has been transported to a forest region. However, he soon learns that this is a world vastly different from the cheerful Pokémon universe he once knew. This world is a land ravaged by conflict and darkness. Far from the vibrant and friendly world depicted in games and shows, this realm is a harsh and brutal place where survival is a constant struggle. Pokémon battles are bloody, fierce, and merciless, and the landscape is scarred by battles and treacherous terrain. Arcane must navigate this grim environment with caution, as he quickly learns that the Pokémon he encounters are not the friendly companions he’s used to but fierce and territorial beings. Struggling to adapt to his new form and the harsh realities of this world, Arcane must reconcile his human instincts with those of his new Pokémon self. His human side craves safety and normalcy, while his Zorua instincts push him towards battle and survival which often clash with his former sense of morality. As he fights to restrain his human impulses, Arcane must learn to harness his Pokémon abilities.

Chapter 1

Arcane's consciousness flickered like a distant ember, struggling to break through the haze that enveloped his mind. He was in a place unfamiliar and surreal, surrounded by the rustling of leaves and the muted sounds of a forest. He tried to recall who he was, and where he came from, but his memories were shrouded in mist.

As he slowly rose to his feet, every movement felt awkward, and his body seemed different from what he remembered. Panic welled up within him as he surveyed his surroundings, realizing he had no recollection of how he had arrived in this enigmatic place.

Arcane's eyes fell upon a scene that sent shivers down his spine. Nearby, there lay a lifeless body, a creature of an unknown bipedal fox species, nestled beside a shattered eggshell. The gruesome sight left him with a chilling realization—perhaps he had hatched from that very egg making the creature his mother or father.

Confusion and fear gnawed at him as he staggered away from the gruesome discovery. With each step, he felt as if he were learning to walk anew, his body unsteady and unfamiliar.

Arcane's mind raced with questions. Who was he? What kind of creature had he become? Moreover, how had he ended up in this mysterious forest? What killed his parent? Was it still around? Would he die next? The only thing he knew was that he was called Arcane.

As he ventured deeper into the wilderness, his senses heightened, noticing the subtlest of sounds and scents. The forest seemed alive, teeming with hidden life, yet it held no answers to his questions.

Hopelessness gnawed at him, and a deep longing for companionship welled up within his heart. He yearned to find someone, anyone who could provide a shred of guidance or understanding.

Nevertheless, fate had other plans. As Arcane stumbled through the underbrush, he unwittingly entered the territory of a territorial Pokémon. It was a formidable creature, its presence exuding an aura of danger. Startled by Arcane's intrusion, the wild Pokémon lunged forward, teeth bared and claws extended. It was an instinctive reaction, a bid to protect its territory and its own existence. Arcane's heart pounded as the wild Raticate lunged at him with ferocious intent. Panic surged through him as he attempted to dodge the creature's swift attack, but his unsteady movements betrayed him. The Raticate's sharp teeth and claws grazed against him, inflicting pain and fear.

Desperation coursed through Arcane's veins as he instinctively tried to defend himself. It was then, in the midst of this perilous encounter, which something incredible happened. As the Raticate lunged for another attack, Arcane's instincts kicked in, and he found himself transforming into a defensive stance, his body emanating an aura of power.

In that instant, a status screen appeared before him, displaying information about the wild Raticate that had attacked him:

Arcane's eyes widened as he saw the information he believed pertained to this creature. This however distracted him as the Raticate vanished from his sight tackling him at a high speed knocking Arcane into a tree.

Arcane felt pain all throughout his forcing himself to his feet. Hurt and in pain, Arcane said, "Please don't hurt me! Let me go!"

"Let you go? You invaded my turf and now beg for your life. Accept your death with dignity." replied the Raticate

"I didn't mean to enter your turf. I was just walking around. Please, I'll leave, so let me go." Arcane's voice quivered with fear as he pleaded with the territorial Raticate, desperately trying to convey his innocence. His memories were a jumbled mess, and he had no recollection of how he had ended up in this unfamiliar body or the forest. All he knew was that he was in a perilous situation, facing a wild Pokémon determined to protect its territory.

The Raticate, its sharp teeth bared and its eyes filled with a predatory glint, hesitated for a moment. It regarded Arcane with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. Perhaps it sensed something different about him, something that didn't quite fit the usual intruders.

Arcane continued, "I don't even know what I am, or how I got here. I mean no harm. Please, let me go, and I'll leave your territory."

The Raticate's aggressive stance wavered slightly, but it remained cautious. In this world, survival often depended on swift and decisive action. Therefore, it decided rather than bet on uncertainty it would be safer to rid itself of this intruder.

As the Raticate prepared to finish off Arcane, a loud roar could be heard shaking the trees and the very Earth itself. This caused the Raticate to turn its head toward the direction of the of the roar.

It was clear to Arcane that he was in no condition to fight back, especially against the formidable Raticate who seemed to still want to fight. Desperation gave way to a newfound resolve. Arcane knew that he had to escape this encounter before it turned deadly. With a burst of speed, he darted away from the Raticate and whatever made the sound, his senses guiding him through the underbrush as he sought refuge.

Arcane's heart pounded in his chest as he sprinted through the dense undergrowth, his body fueled by fear and adrenaline. He could hear the Raticate's enraged cries behind him, growing more distant with each passing moment. The mysterious roar had diverted the Raticate's attention, providing Arcane with a precious chance to escape.

As he ran, Arcane couldn't help but wonder about the source of that thunderous roar. It was unlike anything he had ever heard before, a primal sound that seemed to shake the very foundations of the forest. Whatever it was, he had a feeling that it was a force to be reckoned with.

Arcane's body protested with each step, his muscles aching from the earlier tackle by the Raticate. He pushed through the pain, driven by the need to put as much distance between himself and the territorial Pokémon as possible.

The forest around him was a labyrinth of towering trees, twisting vines, and shadowy thickets. He had no sense of where he was headed, but he couldn't afford to stop. His instincts guided him through the maze of nature, helping him evade potential threats and obstacles along the way.

As the sounds of pursuit faded into the background, Arcane finally slowed to a stop, his chest heaving with exertion. He found himself in a small clearing, the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves above casting a gentle glow as the streams of sunlight hit the pond.
