Chapter 4: Ricky Oak

The MC's name and appearance have changed as mentioned in Chapter 0.

Past name = Itsuki Oak

Past appearance = Light from Death Note.

New name = Ricky Oak

New appearance = Yuji from JJK (hair isn't colored pink)

You'll notice the pov changed too. I have another fanfic, A Gamer Into Trails that uses first-person pov, so this story will be told exclusively in third-person! That way there'll be a bit of variety between the two! It changed from first-person pov.

CRASH!

A loud crash struck Lillie's ears right as she approached the doorsteps that led into the lab that she was familiar with. The sound was quite loud and it was reminiscent of rocks being shattered apart. It was loud enough to cause Lillie to flinch, which prompted her walking to stop. Snowy approached Lillie's side and watched onward. Following that, the two heard an upbeat voice coming from inside the lab.

"Oh yeah, that's the stuff Rockruff!", The voice happily echoed around the lab. It belonged to a man that Lillie was ever so familiar with. Hearing this voice prompted Lillie to shake her head left and right. She then sighed.

"Of course. The Professor is probably trying to research another new move. Aren't most of them discovered by now...?", Lillie uttered with a sigh, seeing this happen before her.

"Vul?", Snowy asked, tilting her head again in confusion.

Lillie giggled seeing Snowy behave this way.

"Hehe, surely you're used to this by now, Snowy.", Lillie said, calling out to her. Snowy was right beside Lillie. Bending downward, she let go of her bags, and proceeded to pick Snowy up. She moved Snowy into her arms, just like how she often did in the anime.

As if responding to them, the door suddenly cracked open.

"You made good timing, Lillie. Breakfast is almost ready. Sorry if you heard that crash just now. The Professor is just a tad too excited at the moment.", A voice called out to her, who was now standing in the doorway. Lillie's eyes lit up the moment she saw this rather tall figure.

"Ricky!", Lillie happily called out to him. Placing Snowy gently back down on the small patio, Lillie rushed at the man before him. Before the man could react, Lillie reached out for a hug, and pressed his lips against his. He raised his eyebrows, not expecting to receive a sudden peck on his lips.

It only lasted for a brief moment before Lillie parted ways. As she parted ways, Snowy shook her tail. The man couldn't help but show a playful grin on his face. He was quite tall, around 6'3 to 6'4. His hair was very short and spiky, and was black in color. His irises were also pitch black, making his eyes very sharp.

This man went by the name Ricky, the name Lillie had just addressed him with. And of course, Ricky was the protagonist of this story. He didn't try to act out like how a protagonist does, though. He was just a single man trying to enjoy his new life granted to him by God. Before he realized it, a full fifteen years had come and gone before his very eyes!

The only meddling God had in this expanded Pokemon-verse was Ricky's origins, because Ricky had spent some of his karma points for a good background. This background allowed Ricky to get connected with both the Aether Foundation, and Professor Oak, subsequently allowing him to come across Lillie much earlier. If Ricky had just stuck to the original story and wandered to regions where he had interest in, he likely wouldn't have encountered Lillie until he paid the Alola Region a visit.

Ricky had assumed this was an expanded Pokemon-verse, considering everything that had happened so far. It was likely a mixture of both the anime and the games. It gave Ricky a big sigh of relief after encountering Lillie's mother, Lusamine, for the first time over ten years ago. He was quick to realize this version of Lusamine was her proud and uptight businesswoman moniker. She wasn't that crazy woman that almost tried to forsake her entire family just for the sake of power.

Ricky had met Lillie ten years ago during that time as well, and at the famous Professor Oak's Summer Camp no less. Lusamine likely had no reason to attend such an event, let alone sending her own daughter there, if it wasn't for the fact of the good background Ricky spent his karma points on. That is, being the son to a pair of scientists that were high up in the chain of command at the Aether Foundation. Lusamine wasn't ignorant of matters, she knew what had taken place back then.

It was an unfortunate event, to say the least. It caused Ricky to become orphaned just shortly after being born. At the time, Professor Kukui was still quite young and wasn't ready to be a parent. He knew he was very close to Samson Oak, the cousin to Samuel Oak, one of the leading Pokemon Professors around the world. Professor Oak had a caring family, who had also ironically just had a grandson be born only a year after the disaster struck.

Professor Kukui didn't know that a grandson was to be born at the time, but he figured by sending Ricky to Professor Oak, he would be better off. Lusamine didn't immediately reject the idea, and permitted Professor Kukui to send Ricky as an orphaned baby to Professor Oak's doorstep. All of that took place over fifteen years ago, in the Year 2008.

Or so how it went, anyways. And because of that, Lusamine sent Lillie to Professor Oak's Summer Camp. It wasn't really hard to figure out why Lusamine did such a thing. But Ricky could only guess this was God's meddling. After all, just before Ricky parted from the Heaven's Gate after receiving judgement, God promised Ricky he would become an adoptive grandson of Professor Oak.

What Ricky was surprised about, was the fact God stayed true to his word. He didn't think he would become Gary's older brother!

But all of that's in the past now. Sure, Ricky was sad he can't meet his true parents, seeing as they have passed away. And on top of that, that disaster could potentially be linked to what struck ten years or so down the line, the same event that caused Lillie to be unable to touch Pokemon.

Ricky wasn't sure if he wanted things to play out differently, but he was glad to see what had come to happen. Ricky even got a cute girlfriend out of it, the very same girl standing before him.

"Heh, looks like someone is eager today. Such a nice welcome.", Ricky teased the girl before him.

Lillie pouted seeing Ricky say that.

"You can't tease me like that this early in the morning, Ricky.", Lillie replied with a slight blush of embarrassment.

"Is it that early in the morning, though? It's already nearing 8AM. I know we need to depart for Hau'oli Airport in a half hour or so, but riding a Flying Taxi is pretty quick. We've got Professor Kukui's personal express lane. The cabin is already prepped and ready to go out back.", Ricky explained.

"We'll be taking Professor Kukui's personal taxi?", Lillie asked. Her eyes lit up.

"Heh heh. That you will be, Lillie. It's nice to see you this fine morning. You did well in coming here.", Professor Kukui's voice called out to the two. It looks like the business he was doing a few moments ago further inside concluded. Lillie saw a tanned figure who had their chest exposed out in the open. He had a very relaxed expression. He even slung one of his arms over Ricky's shoulder. Ricky didn't turn him down and let Professor Kukui do as he wanted.

In fact, Ricky liked to dress up in a similar fashion to Professor Kukui. He had recently become a Pokemon Professor, so he has his own lab coat now. He liked to wear it with his chest exposed. But not today, considering that he had to take a flight. Instead, he was wearing a branded dark blue polo shirt and brown slacks, neatly tucked away by a black belt. It made his appearance spiffy. The only unruly thing about it was his spiky hair, but he kept it gelled up most of the time.

Due to frequently hitting a local gym, the polo shirt highlighted the contours of his body. He fit, but not excessively like a body builder was.

"It's ever so wonderful to see you again too, Professor.", Lillie spoke, happily greeting Professor Kukui.

Reacting to Lillie's voice, two more figures walked up beside Professor Kukui and Ricky. They weren't humans, but Pokemon. One had a body composed solely of brown rock and had the appearance of a dog. It had bright blue eyes, and its rocky tail was swishing back and forth in vigor. This Pokemon was a Rockruff, and was one of Professor Kukui's Pokemon he keeps here at the lab.
