As the two Cossowas came closer, Sheyken saw that they were running at an incredible speed. He thought that they were coming for them, but looking at how they were running, he noticed that they were not paying attention to them. Before long, they had passed the tree that they had climbed.
"Wait."
Sheyken shouted out but to his surprise, Falgur had already leaped down off the tree. When he reached the ground, in seconds, he had gone past the two Cossowas and was now facing them as the two were surprised to see him. They tried to stop but in the next second, Falgur had reached them and had held both their throats in each of his hands. In that one swift move, the two Cossowas had been killed.
Sheyken jumped down and went to where he was. He was amazed at how fast he had killed them, but really, he was just amazed by the whole thing.
'I had Plot Armor and I could not kill one of those things in one blow. To think this kid has been down in a basement his whole life. He killed them without batting an eye either. I still can't tell what his Blessing is, even though I witnessed everything that he did. Is it poison?'
Sheyken thought as he reached him.
"So how did I do? Was I as good as you?"
Sheyken was too embarrassed to tell him the truth.
"Congratulation on your first hunt."
Falgur smiled proudly after hearing those words.
"What did you do to them? Is it poison?"
He said as he decided to avoid answering his questions.
"No, it is not poison. So, you still can't tell what Blessing I have?"
Sheyken scratched the back of his head.
"Then you will have to keep on guessing."
Falgur said as he gave him the two Cossowas which he absorbed into Ruby.
"You know I saw it earlier, but how do you do that. I do not see a storage item on you."
"You will have to keep on guessing."
Sheyken said with a wry smile. He turned around and ran so to leave the area. Even though Falgur had quickly and silently killed the Cossowas, after what he had told him about the Snatcher, he just wanted to be safe than sorry. Falgur quickly caught up to him.
"Something was wrong with those Cossowas. They seem to be running in panic.
"That is because they sensed that I was around."
Falgur said with a proud full voice.
"Haha, yeah right, but seriously, let us just be careful just in case something else was hunting them."
The more they went in the direction they were going, the more they saw other beasts running in the opposite direction. Since they were many passing them at a frequent rate, they did not hunt any but would hide when they come across one.
"This is a first. I know I have been hunting here for a short time, but it is the first time I've seen this behavior. It is not just the evolved one, but even the unevolved ones do not seem to care about us. Do you recall your father telling you about something like this?"
"No, but he did say when powerful beasts fight, the forest would get livelier."
"But it is quiet, they are not letting out a sound, just running the opposite direction of where we are going. They are not in a panic too."
"Well, we should check it out."
Sheyken looked at him like he was crazy.
"Falgur, why would I go to where the thing that they are running from is, instead of running away from it like the clever beasts are doing? I am not suicidal."
"Hahaha, Here I thought you wanted to be a Beast warrior. You will be getting in such situations all the time. Why not start now."
Falgur said like they were on a school trip in a park, with him just enjoying the wildlife.
'He is telling the truth though. That was why I even attacked the Vatangreos in the first place.
"Alright, this one is on you. If we die on your first day out in the world do not blame it on me."
Falgur's smile disappeared after that.
"We cannot die. I still have so much to see. Let us head back."
He said in a hurry.
"Nop, as you said, we will be Beast warriors. So let us see what our first adventure holds for us."
Falgur regretted his words but stood up and followed Sheyken. About an hour into their walk in the direction they were walking towards, they both could feel a tingly sensation on their skin.
"Falgur, do you feel that?"
"Yes, I think it is lightning."
"Lightning, how do you know?"
"Because it is resonating with my Blessing."
"Your Blessing... Lighting? Awe, now it makes sense."
Sheyken said as he looked at Falgur in a new light. He also did not expect him to reveal it in a melodramatic way after making him wait to know what it was. Falgur just smiled and then looked in the direction they were going.
"I think whatever is causing the beasts to flee has the lightning attribute. I think we should see what is going on. Maybe I will find out something that can help me advance."
Sheyken nodded his head and they both moved forward with their guard up.
"I have a bad feeling about this. The sensation is getting stronger. I can hold out but if my defensive shield can no longer help with keeping the lighting at bay, we will have to turn back. It has been 30 minutes since we started feeling this sensation and we have run for miles. Whatever is causing this must be powerful."
Sheyken said as the lighting was now visible where they were. Falgur was having no problem and leisurely running. Sheyken saw a tall tree and suggested that they climbed up to have a view of what was happening further ahead of them as he could smell something burning in the air. When they reached the top, they were in awe and shock at what they saw.
About eight hundred meters away from where they were, the lighting was more violent and chaotic. Trashing everything in its path. Trees were tone apart and burning as the field had turned to ash.
In the middle, a big bird, almost as big as a Fighter Jet was laying on the ground. When they looked closer, they saw that it was in pain, weak, and looked like it was about to die. On its neck was a wound that had black veins bulging and pulsating. It sounded like it was finding it hard to breathe as it tried to take larger breaths.
Moving away from its wound, they tried to take a good look at the beast's appearance. It had a head that looked to be of a falcon, its feather was blue and with illusionary black spots that looked like eyes and the feet resembled that of an eagle's. Its large body looked muscular even though it looked weak at that point in time. From time to time the lighting would come out at the tips of the feathers. Falgur also thought he saw claws at the tip of the wings but could not see them properly because of the Lighting.
"Well, this was unexpected. Falgur, this is our chance. The Guardians must be smiling down on us."
'Does he worship Uros'
Falgur thought.
"That is a very powerful creature and it is about to die. We should wait and the second it dies, we should take it and run like Cossowas on steroids and get out of this place."
Falgur did not know what steroids were, but he understood what he wanted to do. he nodded at him and focused.
"What is the plan?"
"We cannot get close to it as it is. For now, I need to rest so my defensive field can recharge. So, we will wait for it to die while I rest but we will keep an eye on it. Since I am the only one that has a storage item, I am the one that will have to go and retrieve it even though I think you would be better suited to get close to it as soon as it dies because of your Blessing. I think the lightning around it will not die down as fast as I would like it to, so I think there will be some residual lightning left around it when it eventually dies."
"Where is your storage item. I did not see it even the last time when you put the Cossowas in it."
Sheyken did not waste time and showed him Ruby which took time as he did not believe him and thought he was just messing around. After finally convincing him. He moved on to the important part of the plan. He gave him the compass and explained to him how it worked.
"I think since that is a high-level Beast, there must be other beasts around thinking the same thing we are thinking. They might hesitate to make their move and I will use that chance to absorb it. I will have to follow you out of here since I cannot be looking at the compass and on guard for a potential attack that I know will come. I think they will come after me so you must just focus on the direction it is pointing and run at the speed I was running at when we first ran. I will follow you all the way."
"You mean to tell me that that is your top speed? Hahahaha"
Sheyken lightly slapped him at the back of his head and told him to focus.
"You might be a good fighter, but you lack experience. If you get attacked, you must focus on defense and running in the direction the compass is pointing. Do not worry about me and just focus on getting out of the Trial Forest."
Sheyken said with a stern face. Falgur did not ague and agreed with him. His first day out in the world was turning out to be exciting. Sheyken just thought the reward was better than the risk.
"Lastly, try to not leave me behind, or I ..."
He could not finish his sentence. The first part of his plan had already gone down the drain. They both looked at where the beast was and confirmed what had just happened.
The beast had died as the lightning around it had died down with a few sparks still left. Sheyken looked at Falgur and they both nodded simultaneously. He then leaped down the tree and when he reached the ground, he dashed forward with every ounce of power he had in his body.
