"So, tell me. Who is the leader of this little group of yours?"
Seduralto asked. They were in a room on the second floor of the building. The room was big with several doors. One of the doors was wide open and Falgur saw a messy bedroom that had clothes all over the bed and a pink pantie on the floor that he could not take his eyes off. Sheyken concluded that the second floor must be her living quarters that doubled down as her office.
She was sitting on a chair made from some kind of beast hide and looked comfortable. They too were sitting on chairs that were made out of wood. They were separated by a table that looked expensive and on it was some beast bones that were made to look like accessories for decorations. Next to her was a book which Sheyken could not take his eyes off. It was the first book he had seen in that world and he could not help but be curious.
Lasore tried to speak but Saduralto lifted her hand to stop him. She looked at Falgur who was still looking at the door where the pink underwear was.
'Hey, kid, you still too young to get in there. If you come of age and still want to try the bed out you should come visit and we will see."
Saduralto said with a voice of trying to scold a kid who had been caught red-handed. Falgur just turned his head and looked at her then as cool and as calm as he could be, he laid back on his chair like a guy who knew he was handsome and cool.
"I will remind you of those words when I'm older."
He said in a cool tone.
"Hahahahaha...."
Saduralto could not help but laugh. Sheyken and Lasore did not know how to react but since she was laughing, they tried to laugh off his embarrassing attempt of being cool.
"Well kid, you should know that woman of this world go for the strong so, since you are a Finis, do not disappoint."
Falgur still laid down on the chair still trying to act cool.
"Well, I see you cannot be the one calling the shots in this little group of yours."
"He is our guardian. He calls the shots."
Sheyken said as he pointed at Lasore whose bold head was starting to sweat for no reason.
"No, He might be older but you see kid, you just stepped into the world. Only the strong call the shots in any group or organization and he might be older, but you can see from a mile away that he is as weak as a new bone baby."
Lasore was now sweating like he had been drenched in water. Selduralto turned her attention to Sheyken.
"You on the other hand."
She said and then pointed to Falgur.
"In my observation from the time I met you, it seems like he gets his confidence from you."
Sheyken looked at Falgur who was now sitting upright.
"What makes you say that."
"Your eyes."
"My eyes?"
"Yes, your eyes. They look just like the adventurers downstairs. Like you have stared at death in the face so many times and managed to survive. You also have the look of someone who can kill without hesitation."
Sheyken remembered Zararloch's words after he had survived Sanguis death stare.
"Now, pay up, we let you enter the city without a hustle. I think we need compensation for that."
They were taken aback by the sudden change of tone. Sheyken now knew where this conversation was going. He finalized that they must be the ones controlling the bandits in the town, which is why they never met them when they arrived. He looked at Lasore who was now thirsty for a sip of his wine. He took out a gold coin and 4 silver coins and put them on the table. Seduralto's aura changed and she now looked fierce.
"I think you do not get what I am saying, think of it this way. How much is your life worth?"
Lasore looked at Sheyken again and then with shaky hands took out all the coins he had given him. He put them on the table and swallowed what little saliva he had left.
Seduralto stood up and took the sword that was strapped on her back and then pointed it at Falgur. It was inches away from his throat and the move was faster than any attack they had seen.
"I know you are Finis, but your lives must be worth more than that. Put everything you have on the table or he dies first."
She looked at Sheyken as she said those words and still had the sword by Falgur's neck. Lasore looked like they had poured water on his clothes as he was drenched in sweat. The little killing aura Seduralto was letting out was not good for his heart.
Sheyken calmly stood up and Plot Armor was already in his right hand and was a short sword.
"I do not care who you are or how strong you might be, but if you do not put that sword down from my brother's neck, I will make you watch as I kill everyone in this guild. Then I will kill you in front of your family in the most gruesome way. After that, I will kill each and every one of them that come to take their revenge."
Seduralto looked at Sheyken's eyes and she could feel the killing intent. She had never seen such eyes in a kid or grown man in her life. He seemed sure that he would carry out his claim. The Camorphiare he was carrying looked menacing too. It had been some time since she saw one.
"Awe, and how would you do that."
Sheyken took a few steps and went to other side of the table where she was standing so he could not be obstructed by the table.
"Ask yourself, are you faster than a thought that can be carried out through death? You have 3 seconds to take that sword off my brother's neck or I will make your worst nightmares come through."
He said as Ruby appeared on his left hand.
'Looks like I have taken this too far, this kid is scary. He means all that shit he just said.'
Seduralto thought as she moved her sword. She then looked at Falgur who was not even a bit scared but laid down on his chair like he had no worries in the world. She did not know what to think of the two from then on. She sat back down and sighed.
"Kid, I was just messing with you, take a sit. I was just making my point. Well and checking if you were the real deal and let me say, I have never seen Finis like you two. I am a third-tier mage and even though I was testing you, I really thought I would have died if I did not remove my sword."
She turned and looked at Lasore.
"Hey, so-called guardian, what the hell are you guys putting these kids through? Is this why you haven't brought out any kid for the past years?"
Lasore did not know how to answer that question and after Sheyken's words and thinking he was going to see those monsters again he was at his limit. He fainted after having nothing to say to her.
"And you call him your guardian?"
Seduralto asked in dismay. Sheyken after assessing that she was really testing them went back to his seat while still with his guard up.
"I am sorry to have put you through that. This is a test we do to you Finis to see your resolve and if we should waste our time on you."
She looked at Sheyken then Falgur as she spoke.
"Let me introduce myself again. I am Seduralto, The daughter of the leader of the Dessert guild, Almoturo."
Sheyken looked at her and then finally put back Plot Armor.
"I am Sheyken, next to me is Lasore and that is my brother Falgur."
"Well, nice to meet you. The guild was made for the Senjira inhabitants but its secondary function is to help the children from Finis who want to go out to the world. We are here to serve as your guide and assess you. We will then help you reach the school or guild you wish to join. This is an order from the Queen."
Sheyken was intrigued and Falgur was also paying attention.
"Why do all of this for us."
Falgur asked.
"Well, I was getting to that. All of the past kids also asked that question."
Sheyken and Falgur both looked at each other and let her continue.
"Well, no one is allowed to go to your village unless they want to settle there. This is because your village produces some of the finest warriors, mages, and witches in the Kingdom. Many other towns and villages that are close to the Trial Forest have tried to mimic your training method. Sending children into the forest from a young age but all of them never come back. So, your village was labeled a special case."
Sheyken and Falgur looked at each other again. He thought that that means there is at least one traitor in their midst since the two Luminexis witches made regular trips to the village without them noticing.
"We help you because you are one of the toughest kids the kingdom has and for being in such a remote area and not having access to the world, this is the most the queen can do so to not show favoritism."
She posed and stood up then gave them both a bottle of water to drink.
"I have to say that you two are by far the most intense kids I have ever seen. I cannot wait for my father to meet you and to see if your intensity matches your skills. Where you really going to kill me in front of my family so they can try and get revenge so you can kill them one by one?"
She said as she sat back down while looking at Sheyken. He quickly took the water and drank making sure to take his time so to think of something to say.
"Hahaha, he likes joking like that. I am sure he knew you were testing us."
Falgur jumped in with the save.
"Nop, he was dead serious."
Sheyken almost spat out the water he was drinking.
"Kid, whoever makes an enemy out of you, I have to say, I am scared for them."
She said in a serious tone.
"But that is the mindset you have to have in order to get too stronger. Do not let anyone walk all over you. Both of you should know that you carry the pride of Finis and Senjira on your shoulders. Every step you take to the top, it a step we all take with you. Never shy away from asking anything from us."
Both the two boys nodded.
"Now, a lady came through here who we suppose was a Finis too. She went straight for the teleportation station and used it. Do you have anything to do with her?"
'FLOSBRIS!!!'
Sheyken screamed those words in his head. Seduralto did not miss the anger in his eyes again.
"No, we do not."
He answered.
"You can only go to two cities using that teleport and the cheapest one costs 10 mana stones to use it. It is hard to believe that someone from your village could use such expensive and hard to get stones even for us, just to travel. If you say you have nothing to do with her then will leave it at that, but if something has happened in your village you must let us know. The Finis are important to the Kingdome after all."
Sheyken was not just going to tell her that he had basically massacred the whole village by asking Arloch's help. It looked like they had to get as far away as they could.
'That bitch did not even know how much a mana stone is worth for her to give me one and not even ask for it back after capturing me or was her mind that preoccupied.'
Sheyken thought.
"Before I forget. There were two mages who were kids who stopped here and left in the direction of the village. Did you or any of your villagers meet them? Looks like they had a mission from their school to check your village out since no child had come from there for some time. Looks like the council in the capital had sanctioned it."
"No, it was just the three of us when we traveled to here and we never saw anyone else. We never met anyone when we were still in the village too."
Sheyken answered. Seduralto thought for a while.
"Let us hope they were not stupid enough to go into the forest."
She finally answered. She stood up and then presented them with two wooden cards. They had the words Mystic written in gold on them.
"I am sure you need some rest. I have to make a report as many of the schools and guilds will want to hear about this. Those are excess passes of the best Bed and Breakfast we have around and that is close to the guild. It will give you excess to the best rooms. You two will share and the fainting so called guardian of yours can have his own room."
Sheyken took the cards.
"Just turn left and after a hundred meters you will find it. Please come back tomorrow by midday, I am sure in the morning you will want to get accustomed to the town. Take your time but do remember that we might have taken care of the bandits that where outside the city but many still live inside. You are Finis and we do not have to babysit you. So, take care of yourselves."
She took the coins on the table and gave them to Sheyken. They both took one arm and then dragged Lasore along the floor as they went out. Sheyken saw her taking out a communication dairy as they passed the door.
