Nanna and oniichan

Vitula woke up in the same room the next early morning only to find Falgur already up and meditating next to him. He quietly got up and made his way out to the basement and then to the shop's floor. He found that it was early morning and the sun was still not up.

"Good, I still have time to freshen up."

He said as he went to the upper floor to wash and change his clothes. When he finished the sun was about to rise and he set down while waiting for the water to boil so he could make some tea. He heard a knock on the door and assuming the worst he ran to open it.

"Aw, it is you."

He was disappointed. He thought Ningal was at the door again but only to find an old lady with brown teeth smiling at him.

"Is that how you greet your elders Vitula?"

"You not an elder to anyone. Just ask all the children you and the others betrayed if you are an elder to them or just scum. A worthless Lutumina that just needs to be put down."

He said looking at her in the eyes while in disgust.

"Come now Vitula, why do you even have to go there. Have you forgetting that I am a customer. Would Ningal want you to chase away a valuable customer?"

Vitula looked at her with so much intent, a killing aura was almost visible. This made Agna take a step back. He spat on the ground and then stood aside the door leaving a space for her to get in.

"Hahaha... sure you won't kill me inside?"

Agna was hesitant because of the aura Vitula was giving off before. She had to shut her mouth and got inside as soon as she felt the same aura emitting from him again when she asked that question. Vitula left the door open and went to the other side of the counter.

"Which one do you want?"

He had completely changed his attitude at that point. He was like a salesperson about to make the deal of the century. Knowing that Sheyken and Ningal were charging such a price for any type of beast meat Sheyken hunted down was soothing to his heart.

"I would like all the Musmole you have left."

A Musmole was a type of beast that looked like a mole but twice as big. Sheyken had managed to hunt 8 of them since he had stumbled on one of their nesting fields during his previous hunts. They had a distinctive test since they lived under the soil most of the time unless they were hunting. Sheyken had to use his defensive field to eject them from the ground even though he had promised himself to not use it like that anymore.

The villages loved them since they were a rare treat since the previous generation couldn't get them to come above ground and hunt them successfully. Sheyken had taken one since once processed you would be left with about a kilogram of meat. Vitula had also taken one as per their deal with Ningal for him selling the meet since she did not want the stress that came with it. He would always give it to Falgur. The Umbrulpes and Greosen that Sheyken thought Ningal would eat when he had finished his had been given to Vitula for him to give to Falgur also with the hope of making him stronger if he would become a Beast Warrior.

"There are only 2 left."

Vitula said with a smile. Agna was getting goosebumps all over her skin on how he had changed from a man who visible wanted her dead to a happy soul. As she saw him taking the meat out of his storage ring, she wanted to ask if he did not poison it but had to swallow her words since she was scared out of her wit's end of the man in front of her. She took the meat, paid and got out of the shop, but she had a problem. They have asked her to go to him and ask why he was at Ningal's house together with the boy all day yesterday. She tried to look back to Vitula's direction when she was about to walk through the door but the feeling of being stared daggers at made her live without hesitation.

'If it wasn't for Falgur, Nanna, and Ningal, I would have killed as many of you bastards as I can before you ultimately killed me. If only I was strong enough to take you all on.'

Vitula thought as he watched Agna live.

Sheyken woke up feeling light-headed but the blood potion seemed to have worked as the only pain he was feeling was from his stomach, and it was the pain of hunger.

'Does the blood potion make use of the nutrients in your body to make blood or does it work in another way. Well, yet another question I have to live with without being answered. Wait, I should ask Ningal. Whatever she is, she seems well vest in healing or I can ask the man that helped me.'

He thought as he was still looking up to the ceiling and getting used to the pain.

'Funny, ever since I got here, I have never been this hungry before. I should Thank Ruby for that. Now it's time to get up.'

He moved his head around to gather his surroundings but was greeted by the sight of a child sitting in a meditation position facing him trying her best to meditate and a bowl in front of her.

He remembered seeing her the day before, but now that she was close and he was not screaming, he noticed that she looked frail and her two-colored hair was tousled and untidy. He set up and remembered that she called Ningal her mother when she called out for her.

'Awe, what do we have here. Such a cute little girl. Is Ningal hiding you here? Maybe that is why she did not want me sleeping here even though she seems like the kind of woman who would not let a kid sleep outside alone. Things are beginning to make sense. Is she hiding her from the villagers?... I guess she will tell me eventually what is going on.'

He tried to sit up without disturbing her but since this was the second time she tried to meditate after seeing them the other day, she was quickly alerted by his movements. She opened her eyes and as soon as she saw that he had woken up, she had a big smile on her face.

"Big brother! you finally awake."

She said jumping into his arms and hugging him. Sheyken had a big smile on his face and reciprocated the hug.

"Awe, sorry. Mother told me to give you some space until you are better."

She said getting off of him and sitting like she was before.

"So, who might you be?"

Sheyken asked while ruffling her hair.

"Big brother, you missing up my beautiful hair."

She said taking his hand off of her head and giving him a glaring look and pouting.

"I am Nanna Informum."

"Wow, what a beautiful name, but your surname sounds..."

Nanna was glaring at him again after that comment, making Sheyken panic a little.

"I mean it is intriguing and beautiful."

Nanna finally smiled when he said that, calming him down.

"Well, nice to meet you Nanna, I am Sheyken."

"Not fair big brother. I told you my surname but you do not want to tell me yours."

She said crossing he arms and with teary eyes sending Sheyken into a panic again.

"Sorry Nanna, I am just used to giving people only my name when I introduce myself. Let me try this again. Cough, cough, nice to meet you Nanna Informum, I am Sheyken Lewis."

He said with a big smile that made Nanna smile too.

"Nice to meet your big brother. Do you want to play with me?"

She said excitedly.

"Of course, I do, but don't you want to eat first?"

Nanna looked at the bowl she had asked her mother to give her before she went up the first floor to make some food. Sheyken already knew what she was hoping for. He took out the same-looking bowls with ramen and gave one to her. She was over the moon as she quickly thanked him and started to dig in.

Sheyken could not wait to get something to eat in him also. He ate two servings before Nanna had finished her meal. When they both finish, they were full and satisfied.

"Nanna, do you want to see something cool?"

He asked her as he put the bowls back into Ruby. Nanna nodded her head full of anticipation. He moved his protective field around Nanna and then using it, lifted her up to the air. Nanna was surprised and amazed at the same time.

"Big brother!"

She said in amazement. Sheyken then flew her around the room like she was an airplane, stopping after a few minutes when he was feeling exhausted.

'Looks like I haven't recovered my mental stamina just yet. Yesterday's events did take so much out of me.'

He thought as he was putting Nanna down.

"Hahaha, big brother, that was amazing. Can we do it again?"

"I'm a little bit tired for now. Just give me some time to rest and we can play anytime you want ok."

Nanna pouted her lips in dejection which was cute and made him smile.

"You know Nanna, I have always wished I had a young sister. Do you want to be my young sister?"

He said ruffling her hair again.

"I do not want to be your young sister!"

She said while trying to fight his hand off of her hair. This time it was his turn to feel dejected, but Nanna had not finished talking.

"Because I am already your sister."

She said, still trying to fight off his hand. The words soothe Sheyken's dejected heart as one of his life dreams where coming true.

"Since we brother and sister you have to call me by a different name from now on, ok?"

"But you are big brother Sheyken."

Nanna was not having it and showed her protest by trying to bite his hand that was trying to ruffle her hair.

"It is just a different way of saying big brother. Do that for me and I will give you a gift."

Nanna quickly nodded.

"Haha, you like gifts that much. Good to know I can win this easily."

He was now playing with her hair and Nanna was letting him like a cat being pet by its master.

"From now on you should call me ONIICHAN."

He said with a big smile and moved his hands to his waist while popping up his chest.

"Oniichan?"

Nanna asked. Sheyken held his chest dramatically like he was having a heart attack making Nanna laugh.

"Awe.... you just made my dream come true Nanna... say it again."

"Oniichan."

He fell to the floor dramatically while grabbing his chest with no care of winning an Oscar for his acting.

"Such a sweet-sounding word. Say it louder Nanna."

"Ha-ha...ONIICHAN!"

He tried to crawl to the basement steps like he was trying to get away from her.

"Nanna... you have such power? how can you be this powerful."

He said playfully. Nanna jumped on his back pinning him down and went close to his ear and whispered.

"Oniichan."

It was like a bullet had hit him as he flopped down the floor and active his defensive shield, making Nanna fly through the air and landing behind him. He tried to crawl and get away but did not get far as his ears were assaulted again.

"Onii...chan!"

Sheyken was now dying but saw an angel as he reached the steps. Ningal had got in moments ago wanting to check on them before continuing with her cooking. Sheyken had noticed the time she walked in but paid no attention to her since he was having fun.

He reached the steps and when he saw Ningal, he let out his hand and said his last words.

"Help me... She is too powerful. She is killing me with curtness."

After those words he laid still on the floor, dead. Nanna came to him and put one foot on his back while acting all high and mighty. At that moment she saw her mother up the steps.

"Hahaha... mother, I'm the strongest girl in the world."

She said out loud while in a superhero pose, still with one leg on Sheyken's back. Sheyken then woke up, now Undead, and chased her all around the room.

Ningal who was standing at the top of the steps had a tear coming down her face while watching them. She quickly closed the door, trying to hide that what she was seeing made her so happy that she was now crying.

Sheyken had not missed her feelings when he had looked in her eyes when he was dying and saying his last words.
