"Hahahahaha."
A mocking laugh was resounding a few meters from Sheyken's back. Violentiam could not help it, even Sanguis feelers were flaring about. Tenebris couldn't help but want to take her statement from earlier back. She started to have reservations about being married to such a person who had no naming sense whatsoever. Zararloch was covering his face, feeling embarrassed to have trained such a person.
"Kid, why would you name a sword with the name 'armor' instead of giving that name to your armor."
Arloch asked trying to find out if he got his naming sense from Dragons.
"It has a hidden mean to it."
Sheyken said while walking and not looking back. Now that he was getting out of that place, he hoped he would never come back again or see any of the five. While thinking about them he remembered Violentiam's double-bladed axe and wondered what its name was.
As Arloch saw his experimental subject walking away, she could not help but want to put him back in his cell and continue monitoring him but the thought of keeping anything that has ties to Dragons quickly put that thought away. Zararloch did not know how to feel. He did not care about him, but also did not want to be a laughing stock for the other five. They disappeared into the cave after they could not see him anymore.
'Last time I had walked three days without sleeping. I wonder how long will I have to travel in order to get out of this forest. Wait, let me try something in case this thing is broken.'
By this time, he had travel for about two hours to where the arrow was pointing. He separated it from the dagger and started thinking about the valley and Zararloch.
'I wouldn't put it above them to give me something that doesn't work'
As he thought that, the black smoke just returned back to its original ball-like shape. He tried with all his might to think about the place and Undead he had spent two years with, but the campus did not barge.
"That undead swindler. If they thought I was easily fooled, they have another thing coming. I still remember the way I came from."
He turned back and started running. He was running so fast for his age it looked like an Olympic sprinter was running a 100 meters race and not a marathon. After almost 20 minutes of running, he stopped.
'I should have found the valley bay now. I can see the mountain that has a tree with red leaves but why can't I find the valley. Is this how I got lost the first time?'
While trying to think of what Zararloch said about the compass, he had to stop his thoughts.
'Why the hell do I have such bad luck? And I get to see a monster I never wanted to see again. I had to go and jinx myself last night, didn't I?'
Standing at a distance not that far away from him was a monster he had seen two years ago on his sleepless march. It was the monster that looked like a cross between a slime and a molten black bear. It looked as ugly as it did the last time he saw it.
'If you cross a slime and a black bear that is what would come out alright. Since that thing looks like it definitely has a core, then it should leave me alone, right? Zararloch, I have trust in you and those short and precise explanations of yours. Please don't let what you said to be crap.'
He started backing away step by step.
'Why is that thing still coming this way?'
The Bear was closing in with its eyes not moving from Sheyken's direction. It finally stopped when it was a meter's distance from Sheyken. It looked at him and started circling him.
'Is this why everyone was saying I should not die too soon? Zararloch, I haven't lost trust in you. This thing is just curious after seeing a well-dressed handsome young man walking in the woods. If this thing doesn't have a core, then I am a child of god... wait, I am literally the child of a god-like existence. Fuck.... I keep on jinxing myself. Keep calm Sheyken.... there is no way I can even dream of beating, let alone run from this thing. Let's keep calm and stand still.'
The Bear then stopped circling him, stopping in front of him. Its green eyes looking at Sheyken's own. Seeing that the young cub in front of it already looked like it had experienced death as it looked into its eyes, it gave him a nod of approval then let out a small growl that was deep and traveled throughout the quiet black woods.
'I know I have experienced death in many ways, but if I shit my pants and die because of this thing, I'll come back and haunt Zararloch forever.'
After some seconds passed, three monsters looking like bear cubs appeared and stopped next to the bigger one.
'Are those its cubs? How does this thing even give birth? If I get a girlfriend one of these days, I'm surely getting her one that looks like that.'
Looking at the cub that had made him forget he was 7 years old in this world, he thought of Tenebris which quickly put a stop to them. The cub that was putting such thoughts into his head was nothing either than what you would call a cub-sized Gummy Bear. It was green all over, looked like it was made of gum and so cute you would want to hug it whenever you saw it. The other two almost looked like black bear cups if not for the fact that one of them looked like it was molting like the big one which he now thought was their mother. They circled him while the mother backed off and disappeared like it was never there.
'I see we have another wanna-be magician in these woods. So, you teaching your little rascals how to hunt. You do know that you should not let them hunt prey that can kill them in one blow right. I have come too far to be a chewing toy for your cubs.'
The cubs started growling at him, trying to install some fear in their prey. It would have worked if they were not dealing with someone that had lived with the undead for two years and faced death so many times already. The fact that the one that looked like a Gummy Bear looked even cutter when it growled did not help their course either.
'If I kill either one of them there is no doubt I will be killed by their mother as well. not killing them would prove to be header than just killing them. I don't want to know what kind of attacks each one of them has up their sleeve either. Good thing my master had an ability to let me fight so many different types of monsters at once by using his shadow clones in the last two years.'
He moved the defensive field that he had activated when he saw the mother Bear and covered the cute cub and the one that looked like it was molten with it. They were about to pounce on him but the field he covered them with made them looked like they were jumping on him in slow motion. The ordinary-looking one had no such restrictions and it quickly tried to bite his head. An uppercut met with its jaw, making its brain vibrate slightly. It fainted right there.
The other two were slowly approaching because of Sheyken's defensive field on them still restricting their movements. They were quickly met with a sidekick and a spinning front kick, sending them flying and crushing on the nearby trees. The molten cub fainted too but the cute one got up like nothing happened.
'mmmmm.... cute and tough. Is all of its body made of rubber?'
Seeing the other two knocked out, it ground angrily and its mouth started dripping out some black slimmer substance. Sheyken seeing these knew things were about to get dangerous. He chose to play it safe and took out Plot Armor who was in his original form. He did not want to course it much pain and damage but he was not about to let that cute thing bite him with its mouth having something that looked like poison anytime soon.
"Alright buddy, looks like you going to test your first fight even sooner than I thought."
He said out loud.
He was getting a little excited that he was about to let loose on a real opponent. A growl just like the one the cub's mother let out earlier sounded out again and made them both standstill where they were. The mother showed herself again while walking slowly in their direction.
"Shit."
It looked at the two that were knocked out then looked at Sheyken who was now holding a dagger. It then went to the cute cub and rubbed its molten face against it. What looked like greasy hair then expanded from its back and picked up the two that were still dozing away and pulled them onto her back. She took a last look at Sheyken, nodded its head, and then left with the three.
'Good thing I did not accidentally kill or gave them a severe injury. Looks like she just wanted to train them. The monsters here seem smarter than what I was expecting them to be. Good thing they are just like how Zararloch said they would be.'
He took out the campus and dagger and started sprinting off to where the campus was pointing.
"I should at least not judge it until it proves me wrong. I might not be able to find the valley because of that spell formation I saw. I'm tired of these woods. If I run all day I might be out of here by tomorrow."
He ran until he got tired. He took out something to eat and after he finished eating, he ran again. Along the way, he came across many monsters but they minded their own business. They were in all shapes and sizes but one took his breath away.
It was a wolf-like monster that was big as an elephant. It was silver, its neck looking like it had a silver mane that was on fire. It also had three tails, each having a different colored fire on its end that were gold, silver, and blue. Since he now knew that they would not hurt him unless they had a reason to, he took his time whenever he saw a monster that picked his interest. The only problem is that there were many.
He finally focused on getting out of the woods after seeing a flying monster for the first time. He did not get a good look at it as it suddenly passed by, almost touching the trees and making everything lift off the ground. It was big as a Fighter jet. He had to grab on a nearby brunch so not to be sent of flying.
After that event, he had renewed vigor to get out of there. After running for a day and a half without sleeping and a few stops to rest, the scene finally changed. He was now in a lush beautiful green forest reminiscent of those of Earth.
He was overjoyed for leaving the dark and ashy woods. He looked at the campus and regretted doubting it in the first place. He would have reached this place much sooner rather than first being treated as a training opponent for cubs.
After walking for a while, he saw his first beast. It was a red two-headed beast that had the body of a lion and heads that looked like those of snakes. He had thought that the creatures around here would be better looking. He ran off not wanting to find out if they were friendly or not. He passed many such creatures with a combination of different animals. After 5 hours of running, he saw his first normal-looking animal that looked like a black sparrow and after that, he saw many animals that you would call normal.
They differed a little from those of Earth, like a hippo that had scales all around its body and a spider that had its front legs as scythes. He had been as quiet as a ghost throughout his journey and now that he was nearing his goal, he was moving like a black ghost through the lash forest, not wanting any confrontation. After crossing a river and a mountain he had come out of the forest by nightfall.
"Free... free at last!"
He said out loud while seeing some lights at the far distance.
