Letting go of his embrace with Tess, Lucian stared at her strangely for a moment. It was taking a while to get used to things since he had truly woken. He noticed things he never did before, details like the intricate patterns that made up her blue iris', or the look of the texture of her clothes.
He seemed to see so much more than he was used to, but it was not just what he saw. He could hear vague words being said in nearby streets by those wandering in the night, and feel the faint flow of air clearly.
Stranger still, he was just aware of things, like the many shadows in his vicinity, doors to that other world. Without looking for them he knew where they were, and what was just beyond. He was aware of blood, his own, and Tess', how they flowed in the body, and the blood of others walking the streets.
"Did you miss me so much? You put me through a hell of boredom I'll have you know."
He'd been staring, he realized.
