Pining Through Calamity (Bromance)

Two hundred years ago was the domain war between humans and elves. The result: a third of the human world seized by the elven power. Ruith is a gentle and sensitive elven prince, too passive to succeed his father, the king of Ophinem’s Meadow Province, now that his elder brother has passed away unexpectedly. Simon is a dutiful and heroic human soldier, willing to sacrifice anything to provide for his family in the slums. However, he is dying from a disease even the military’s advanced technology cannot cure. Time for him is running out. When the two encounter by chance in the human world, an instant and adoring friendship blooms. Too consumed with each other, their demanding responsibilities are forgotten until the antagonism their races hold against each other catches fire. Together the pair faces severe consequences for their forbidden bond that they desperately attempt to overcome in order to escape another war that could eradicate everything they love and pry them away from each other. A character-driven story about opposing worlds, forbidden bonds, royalty, politics, magic, religion, and philia love. {Warnings: contains angst, betrayal, violence, revenge, and mentions/depictions of suicide & self harm.} *Note*: In this story, elves are reinvented according to my imagination and how their design will nourish the plot. They do not follow the rules traditional to their design. [ This story centers affectionate friendships between men. ] Cover art: Ai Art Generated by Hamzataliu on Pinterest! Safe Until The Night Ends (3/5) || Simon

The door opened, and two female servants entered—one taller than the other. They were clothed in long skirts and plain blouses that shimmered a little beneath the light, each item a pale pink color.

I'd encountered more soldiers—suited in either black or green—than servants since coming here, but the few I had spotted while scrutinizing the castle's perimeter had worn pink or pastel green clothing. And the doctor wore white.

One of the women took my tray while the other dropped a pair of clothing onto the bed, which I managed to slip on discreetly beneath the blanket. Grateful because I'd almost believed I'd have to roam the halls naked.
