Omega heats
Omega male and female go through cycles that come every 6 months. These are their most fertile periods where unprotected intercourse is sure to have them with child (they can get pregnant outside of their heats). These heats last from 3 days to a week depending on individual lifestyle and health conditions. They come with increased sexual needs, lack of reason, scattered emotions, scent production, vulnerability, a need to be bred and taken care of by their alpha or mate.
Hence why they need an alpha or close omega companion to watch over them during these periods.
Slick
Slick is an indication that an omega is going into heat. It is a natural lubricant produced by omegas during their heats. It serves to ease the mating process by reducing friction and discomfort during sex. Slick is produced in larger quantities during an omega's heat, and its scent also contain pheromones that attract alphas.
Heat regulations
Heats can be triggered by various factors such as proximity to an alpha in rut, stress, or the scent of their mate in sudden close proximity. Omegas are expected to marry at the age of 20 so the heats are regulated and healthy children can be born in optimal conditions. Omegas under 20 can buy heat suppressants with the help of their parent/guardian as prescribed by their doctor. Omegas 20 and over are usually expected to be married, so they aren't allowed to buy suppressants (at least not legally).
Mated omegas experience less painful/stressful heats as they have their alpha's scents to help them through the period.
Alpha Ruts
During ruts, alphas may become more dominant, aggressive, possessive, territorial and focused on mating and claiming their chosen omega.
Ruts can be intense and may override an alpha's rational behavior, leading to conflicts or impulsive actions.
Knots
Knots are swellings located at the base of an alpha's penis. It acts as a lock that keeps the two partners in place till the breeding process is completed to ensure the omega gets pregnant.
It can only be broken after the alpha ejaculates and the knot deflates.
Rut Regulations
Alphas are advised to not use rut stoppers and to let "nature take its course." The government doesn't want anything to dilute the pure alpha genes so rut stoppers at in short supply. Instead unmated alphas are allowed to go into regulated "rut homes" (basically legal prostitution houses) where they can spend their ruts with the workers there.
Mating Marks and Scent Glands
Scent glands are sensitive spots on the neck, wrists and inner thighs that produce pheromones. These soft sensitive spots are pierced by the alpha's fangs either to deter other alphas and show dominance in a pack or to form mating marks with partners.
Mating marks are as the name implies. The act of marking is that of claiming one's mate and a large milestone in the relationship. Mating marks are typically left by alphas on the scent glands during or after mating, often in moments of intense passion or possessiveness. Some omegas try to mark their alphas but their fangs aren't strong enough to leave lasting marks.
