Silence filled the limo on the way back to Kendra's house because my mind was too busy digesting the night's events. If getting close to Derek meant I could see inside Era's head, I would do it. I was positive Era knew something about Vivian's whereabouts. Why else would Era send the guards chasing after her? Something wasn't right, and I was determined to find out what it was. I wasn't really sure if I wanted to see Derek again, but I would if there was a chance, however slim, I could find out more about Vivian. Sometimes you have to sacrifice yourself for the ones you love.
Or try to anyway, even if it meant failure of the ultimate kind. Like my failure to save my sister Megan from the fire.
When the limo pulled up in front of Kendra's house, we got out, and I dragged myself inside. It still smelled of all the heavenly scents that had been created earlier in the day in the kitchen. My stomach growled.
