Chapter 2 The Forgotten Tranquil Days
"Mommy. Mommy. There's an ice cream place there! Can we eat ice cream today?" the small little girl quickly walked around while dragging her mother's hand. Looking at her, anyone could guess that she was around four years old.
The little girl's name was Lu Liangxing and her English name was Stella.
She had a round cute tender face with distinct facial features. Her long silky black hair was neatly braided, her large black eye pupils were as clear as a crystal, and her milky skin was smooth and fair. Her naïve and childish appearance could not hide her beautiful makings. Anyone who saw her would agree that she would grow into a fine lady in the future.
When wearing a pink knee-length casual one-piece dress, the overall look makes her look adorably cute.
But this is a matter of course. By looking at the beautiful lady being dragged over, one would sigh at how much a child would inherit their parents' traits. The girl had indeed inherited her mother's best gene.
"Sure. Hadn't mommy promised my dear baby girl before? So, today let's buy your favorite ice cream," the young mother said with a smile and happily followed her around.
As the jewel of her family, the mother quite pampered her baby daughter.
The mother's name was Seline and Selva was her surname.
She was a beautiful woman. She had a diamond-shaped symmetrical facial feature with a smooth chin and jawline. Her eyelashes were long, her arched eyebrows were smooth, and she had a pair of deep clear black eye pupils. Her fair skin was smooth and unblemished.
The image of her with long legs, slender body, towering breasts, and waist-length straight black hair that loosely dangling across her shoulder, could always attract the attention of surrounding men and women alike. Today she only wore a simple yet elegant white casual blouse giving a youthful and vibrant aura.
Seline was born from her father's Spanish descent. Her mother, Rin Irene, herself had a complicated ancestry with East Asian-Spanish mixed ancestry. Because of this, when her mother met her father, Daniel Selva, she found chemistry in their relationship which led to their marriage.
Seline had met her husband during her senior year of undergraduate studies. Her husband, Lu Yang was one year older than her. He came from a prominent family in China with a long history. When she was 26 years old, Lu Yang finally confirmed their relationship and proposed, asking for her hand in marriage.
They had a happy newlywed couple life. Waking up every day, always felt like welcoming the first bloom of spring. After having been married for almost three years, when she was in her late 20s, the couple finally welcomed their first-born child, Stella.
Time passed without notice. They had been married for seven years and their daughter was now 4 years old and they. Their marriage was something that anyone would expect from any other ordinary family. There had been good days as well as bad memories. Now even those quarrels had become bittersweet memories.
As a couple, they had tried to proactively support and help each other. They understand, from experience, the importance of properly communicating with one another and putting in the necessary effort to try to understand and tolerate one another's weaknesses. This way they could strengthen their bond and temper their relationship.
Their family belongs to an average mid-high-income household. Living in the capital city with high consumption costs, it is only with the support from both husband's and wife's careers that they can afford their current lifestyle.
Ever since Seline was small, she had a stubborn and willful attitude. As she grows up into adulthood, the need for her to maintain tough and strict discipline has made her character colder and more indifferent.
Most of the time, she held this cold and indifferent attitude during her work time. She was known as a strong and independent woman among her subordinates, colleagues, and peers, such that, regardless of whether it was well meant or not, the 'cold beauty president' had become her moniker.
Of course, this tough semblance was only meant to be shown to outsiders. For her family members, she had always been a loving and patient mother and wife.
"I'm not a baby. I have grown up! The teacher had said that people who had grown up are no longer a baby!" Stella pouted when hearing what her mother called her.
"Hahaha. That's right. My granddaughter had grown up. In the future, she would grow into a beautiful girl," a burst of laughter could be heard coming from the side.
An old lady wearing a white dress with a brown cardigan appeared near them with a genial smile. She had short shoulder-length grey, white hair. By looking at her ruddy skin, her walking posture, and her face without many wrinkles, who would imagine that she would welcome her 79th birthday soon? Rather, one could easily mistake her for a 50-year-old granny.
These facts showed how healthy and strong her body was. Without relying on a cane or her second son nearby, she steadily walked over and arrived near the girl.
"Grandma!"
Seeing the old lady, Stella quickly ran towards her. The old lady reached out and hugged her. She kissed and caressed the child's head while giving her a kind smile.
"Grandma! I miss you! Today is my 'treat day'. You must buy me snacks!" the girl acting like a spoiled brat.
"Okay. Okay. No problem. Over there, near the ice cream parlor, isn't there a snack shop? Later Grandma Ann let you choose whichever you want," the old lady readily agreed to the girl's request. She had always been happy to treat and satisfy the girl's wishes.
"Grandma Ann. Don't spoil her too much or else, she will be used to it," looking at the interaction between the two, the girl's mother doesn't know whether to laugh or be mad at her daughter.
Seline didn't know why Stella was so fond of Grandma Ann. Every time they met, the girl would run away to her Grandma Ann like a spoiled brat leaving her dear mother behind. Fortunately, Grandma Ann treated the girl like her own granddaughter and reciprocated her feelings. Thus, every time they met, the little girl with be glued to her Grandma Ann.
Grandma Ann is not their relative.
They had only met and known each other one year ago. Their first meeting was here in this very place, the open-air garden.
At that time their family of three had just moved into the Astra Residential Community. And to celebrate them moving into a new place and a new house, she and Lu Yang decided to go out for a picnic. Hearing there's an open-air garden here with a great view, they decided to enjoy the morning weekend there.
It was then that they met Grandma Ann, who was taking a walk here in the garden. At that time, Grandma Ann was accompanied by her second son's whole family. Her son's name was Xing Wei. He had been married to his wife, the Han family's daughter Xinyi, and was blessed with a daughter of their own, Tangtang.
It was also that day that Stella first met with Tangtang, Grandma Ann's granddaughter.
Tangtang who was a year older than the girl, was a bit introverted. She first appears to be a shy and quiet girl. But when they became familiar with each other, they knew Tangtang was a bit like the girl, having a mischievous and cheerful personality.
