Well, they can stay for one hour at a time in the house and then go back to the mall to bring more things.

Or she can separate the hour into smaller parts??? She was thinking and made a decision.

Anna has it planned all.

"Let's go." They put jackets and shoes on, as even in their world it was fall and went into the mall that was dusky and cold.

Anna saw that the big store was literally straight ahead. They never closed the gate to this store. Only the stores that held specialty things like pharmacy and expensive items had their own gates.

Anna Gale pushed one carrier and went straight to the food section while the two girls went to the sweets section.

She rose her voice so they can hear her as she wasn't still far. "Take only what you can reach. Go to the counter and get bags. It's easier later to unload if you put things right into the bag."

The two girls pushed just one cart and got stunned. Yes, they need bags.

So Michelle went quickly back to the paying counter and saw their sister taking out a whole stack of bags.

"We need bags anyway. Take ten of them as bags are heavy. We can always take more later. When your cart is full just bring it to Mrs. Stevenson's livingroom."

Anna Gale saw her sister running back with the bags she took from her sister and the two girls started vigorously packing everything into bags and then just swinging into the cart.

Anna Gale stilled and suddenly had another idea.

She went back and pushed at least a dozen of those carts. Half she left near them and smiled. "You can first pack it and then push it. It makes no sense of you travel here and there hundred times."

The girls nodded and saw her pushing the rest of the carts further away.

While the girls got crazy in the sweets section, Anna calmly packed whole bags with rice. Yes.

They had a whole section with various kinds of rice and she plans to take at least two carts of it.

Of course, as she was still just a little girl, she could only pick up the smaller packages and didn't even plan to put bigger packages into the carts.

The next section was salt.

No matter what world, salt was important.

So two carts of salt.

Two carts of flour packages and she started pushing the cart towards the gate of Mrs. Stevenson's living room.

The cart was pushed inside in the corner and she rushed out as she saw that hour almost was finished.

They literally spent one hour to pack these.

She pushed another stack of carts towards the store and saw the gates disappearing.

"Gates will be open in one hour. Push the carts towards there so we can transport everything right away."

The two girls pushed each one of the carts as it was not heavy. They left the carts there and pushed every two new carts back.

Then they went again and brought again new carts to fill.

Anna Gale agreed that this was indeed a good idea and chuckled. "Now we must find a way how to transport these things down to the basement fast."

She plans to leave the things in the basement and then repack it next few days.

"Sister... We can just put everything in the living room and you can invent one of the slides." Alice Gale finally had a good idea.

Anna suddenly had another vision. "Slides to make takes time. I can use the rope and send down the things and you two just catch it."

She already had an idea of how to make a transportation rope.

The two girls knew that she had her ideas and rushed to the nearby section that had various cookies.

Anna on another hand when to the bread department and as expected. All bread after more than two weeks became moldy.

Not even one could be salvaged and she sighed.

She went straight towards the hard toast section and gathered a full cart of it. Then she thought of it and gathered two more carts.

They can eat this whenever they want to snack on something, but don't wanna cook.

The vegetable section was filled with rotten vegetables, but many fruits were still fine.

Especially apples, citrus fruits and such.

Without thinking twice she started hollering.

"Bring the carts to the gate and come help me with fruits!"

Both girls were happy about hearing her words.

Luckily all three loved fruits so the fruits section was even more important than the sweets section.

They pushed the carts towards the other carts and rushed with empty carts to the fruits section.

Anna Gale started packing the fruits in bags and just let them on the ground. She had no time to pack it into the cart so the girls started doing so.

She stopped them.

"You two pack the fruits into bags. Don't overfill the bags so they won't break. Half a bag is enough. I will push these carts back there. It's about time that the gate opens up. I need to push all the carts inside."

The two girls nodded and saw her taking two carts and one was pushed while the other one was pulled.

Just as she arrived the gate opened up and she just pushed the two into the kitchen. Yes, kitchen.

There is not much space in this house. Dozen of carts were now in the kitchen and she pushed the rest of it into the nearby room.

Then she went again with dozen of carts to the food section and pushed out the carts she gathered with rice, flour and salt.

Luckily this took her only forty minutes so she gathered all the bags the girls already prepared and pushed two carts towards the gate into their room.

Of course, some of the food needs to be brought to their home as well.

While the girls gathered other vegetables and fruits that were not rotten she sighed. "Enough for today. I'll go get some normal food and we should eat something." The few hours of work on an empty stomach was not a pleasant experience.

The two girls shook their heads. "We ate fruits."

Anna Gale saw bitten apples, pears and even strawberries and chuckled. "Keep some of the strawberries for seeds."

They got stunned as actually both reached for the sweet fruits and stopped. They might not have strawberries in the other world...

Anna Gale calmly took an apple and started packing noodles of various kinds. "We need these, come, help me."

The fruit section might be important, but they need to take as well canned food, dried food, dry meat, dry vegetables, pickled vegetables...

Two dozen of carts stood in the hallway and waited to be pushed through the last portal for today.

*Next portal will be open tomorrow.*

Anna Gale calmly pushed the carts into the rooms and went to get something she saw in passing.

Plastic wrapper. This is maybe not as good as glass, but she can still make it work on her window so they have some light.

For now at least...

Author's ranting:

*I'm just trying to see the world through the eyes of children that have their own vision of seeing their surroundings. Yes, these three are children, but if they had parents that taught them some basic survival... they MIGHT react this way. I don't say all children are like these characters, nor that world is a perfect place where everything is sun and shine. Few neighboring children are helping me with ideas, so have fun. :)"
