"You may begin whenever you are ready, Commander Reyes."
"Very well. Amari and Wilhelm have halted the omnic progression into the Middle East." He responds.
The Under Secretary General Gabrielle Adawe pauses for a moment as she considers this information.
"How goes the battle in the north?" She asks.
Gabriel cringes as he remembers the bad news, he has to report to her.
"The push for Ottawa was a failure as the heron siege turret failed to activate. It is unknown and unclear as to the source of the problem. It is estimated that Quebec will fall within three months." He explains to her slowly.
She sighs, "I knew the push to reclaim the north wasn't going to be easy, but even with our top minds on the case we should be doing better. Did your little gamble on the New York omnium work out Reyes?"
"With a plan by Shawn Rose, we successfully infiltrated and shut down the omnium plaguing New York. He also was able to identify another fusion reactor within the facility and deal with it himself. Unfortunately, it appears that he and his omnic partner are wild cards at times." He speaks.
This news pleases her despite her face retaining the same undaunted look.
"Very good. Redeploy Wilhelm with Rose to New York, have them push back the omnic oppression there as much as possible before sending Rose back up north to assist on their next mission." She orders.
"Yes ma'am. Is that all?" He asks.
"I need you down South with some of the new recruits. There are some promising potential among the newest additions. Unless you have more to add, that'll be all."
He shakes his head then her screen disappears, and he immediately turned to get everything done as instructed.
He had no problem following orders, he was an officer and a soldier prior to getting the rank of Strike Commander.
He also had a respect for the Under Secretary. She wasn't one of the corrupt elites he despised, and her concern was for the betterment of humanity.
He could never admit that he was kind of happy for this war as it was a means to reset the flawed system that was the plague before omnics.
His mind goes back to when he was just an officer back in Los Angeles and he was taking on a gang.
The lives of two of his fellow officers were lost that day but they managed to get around half a million dollars' worth of cocaine off the streets with over 150 arrests.
He'd never felt prouder at his work than that day.
That was his belief, dealing with injustice at the root.
But it also served as a wake-up call to the true reality of how things worked.
The drugs went missing from the evidence locker and an investigation was started.
Luckily for him, he was good friends with the Internal Affairs agent tasked leading the investigation so they both could find the culprit.
If there was one thing that he could say he could do before the Soldier Enhancement Program, it was gather information.
Their investigation turned up that the Police Commissioner was redistributing the drugs back into the market, which provided them extra money and work for us.
They found that even the certain members of the FBI were involved overseeing this take place.
The investigation turned some heads our way and his Internal Affairs partner took the bribe money offered to them, although Gabriel did not.
But he was also smart enough to not talk about it to anyone because, they covered their tracks well and who would believe such a thing.
Even since that day, he watched as high-ranking society members would do as they pleased and go unpunished as they had connections.
So, when they eventually won against the omnics, they could start the system anew that was better for the people.
He takes a deep breath to refocus on the tasks he has to do before him.
He could deal with Shawn first since they were at the same base together.
A message would have to be sent to Rienhardt since him and Ana were no doubt busy.
He started to think of the potential he saw with Shawn.
The kid was a real counter to fighting omnics. Whatever they sent at him, would easily get dismantled as long as he was with his partner, S3bastian.
He had to give the kid credit, if he didn't play around too much, he was in fact a genius.
No one would have seen the second reactor in that facility, but he did. Plus, he had no causalities as his plan got us in and out. The mission took less than an hour.
They've only attempted to shut down three omniums so far, and each took at least half a day with a third of their forces getting wiped.
Maybe in the future, Shawn could be a great leader in Overwatch.
He came to their assigned room within the temporary base and entered without knocking and paused as he was stunned at the scene before him.
On a table strapped down, was one of the new omnic types they've just encountered with the black exoskeleton that were being identified as a R-7000 Ravager units.
These units were apparently capable of commanding entire legions of the Bastion drones, coming up with strategizes on the fly that outmaneuvers whatever laid out plans we would have.
To have one here, was basically a beacon to the enemy.
"What is this thing doing here? Get rid of it."
Shawn's eyebrows come together in confusion as Gabriel says this.
"But it was with us the entire time on the plane ride back, you're only just now noticing it?" Shawn questions.
"He's not a it, his name is Gunther." S3bastian interjects.
Gabriel pauses as he starts to think if he really did miss something like this.
"Doesn't matter, get rid of it now." Gabriel demands.
"I need him for an experiment." Shawn says back.
"Explain."
"Want to see if we can bring an omnic fighting against us back to our side?" Shawn asks.
"I'm sure there are a lot of people who wouldn't trust having something that switched sides on their team. Maybe if you could get them to reveal valuable information this would be viable. Before you do anything, can you guarantee that this won't put the lives of your fellow soldiers at risk?" He offers as this idea isn't that bad but a bit risky in a way.
They currently lacked the intel on the workings of the omnic oppression at the moment. They only had theories right now, but it was just theories and no actual hard evidence pointing toward any of them.
"His signal was blocked the moment he left the area; he can't communicate with any others. Worst case scenario, he thrashes about so much that we have to kill him." Shawn assures him.
"Very well. Continue." Gabriel motions pulling a shotgun out of nowhere and aiming it at the Ravagers head.
Shawn places his hands on the Ravager and his face instantly changes to one that reflects seriousness as he focuses.
The Ravagers eyes light up and rapidly change from red to purple to blue within seconds as its body starts to thrash about.
Sparks start to fly off from different joints of the Ravagers body causing S3bastian to back up.
The lights in the room and hall begin to flicker as Shawns hair begins to sparkle as well, turning blue.
Then just like that, everything goes still and there's nothing but silence, as Shawns hands slowly fall off the Ravagers body and he falls to the floor.
With purple eyes, the Ravager looks at Gabriel who narrows his eyes at the omnic, before he turns his attention to Shawn.
"So, you can foresee the future, but you couldn't foresee this? Very interesting."
The purple lights in the Ravagers eyes fade as the Ravager goes still.
"GUNTHER NOOOO!" S3bastian shouts as he rushes to the Ravagers body.
A shield forms around S3bastian's body as it envelops an explosion blocking it from Shawn and Gabriel.
The smoke settles and a disoriented Shawn looks up to find Gabriels's shotgun in his face.
"Come with me." Gabriel orders with a warning tone.
