Phase 2

Ainz watched the world evolve over five months with curiosity. He saw the dilemma of the two kings, feeling pity for them. How are they to know the one behind the deaths was Pontus?

The deaths of the Spartan Warriors made him scared and hopeful. He was scared his makeshift Underworld would fail but that didn't happen.

He could see their souls sinking below to the City of Death, which was acting as the Underworld.

There is no doubt he was powerful but even he had his limits. Although he wished to create mythologies, he couldn't create the real Greek Underworld since he had no power to attract souls apart from the City of Death.

To solve the situation, he and Chrono thought of a solution, placing the City of Death into the deepest part of the earth, and then creating special walls, to make Underworlds for each mythology.

To how far he placed the City of Death, the pressure of the earth and the temperature was unbearable to Ainz but he was able to place it at the core of the planet, after many days of resting and digging.

Only an item of its strength could barely withstand the pressure and temperature but he wasn't worried. The more creatures that died, the more powerful it became.

When he first created the City of Death, it was a failed Divine Class item as it only possessed the laws of Death. However, after he infuses his theory or comprehension of Life into it, the City of Death becomes perfect.

The only thing stopping it from being a World Class Item is souls. Without enough souls, it cannot reach its full potential.

If he created another Underworld on Earth, the souls would be pulled towards the City of Death, before being trapped in the special walls, into the Underworld in that area.

The idea of how the Underworlds are made Ainz thought of something else, separating Earth into special zones, with each being a separate world of its own, with its own mythology.

That would require a lot of effort and resources but he was willing to try because if it works, the amount of talented people to be born will be terrifying.

———

A lot of things had happened during this period. Pontus impregnated the five women, who to Ainz amazement didn't seem to mind.

Ainz notice that among the five women, one seemed to be hiding her edges. If experience served him correctly, this woman will betray Pontus. However, he didn't plan to say anything because at the end of the day, everyone was an experiment, including these Primordial Gods.

On that note, Gaia and Uranus seal the deal and had intercourse. The results were unknown, but over the passing of the days, he saw Gaia's stomach becoming bigger, meaning she is pregnant.

Because of how long it was taking for the changes he wanted to see to happen, he used to wish for Gaia to have twelve children at once. However, he had to sacrifice 100.000 gold coins as a result.

To Ainz this was cruel, but some sacrifices had to be made to see change.

Gaia could be seen with an unnaturally large stomach even for a divine titan of her size. However, she was not affected by this and could operate calmly, doing everything she used to.

The only visible drawbacks were the amount of power she had access to, and the control over it. That being said, she could easily kill as many humans as she wanted without so much as breaking a sweat. If they could be defeated even in their weakened state by humans, why would he waste his time creating them?

Another thing that happened was amongst his so-called children, only one of them had begun to collect gold and sacrifice it to him.

So far, Tartarus had obtained a small mountain of gold, however since it wasn't refined, it was bound to shrink when he placed it into the Exchange Box.

Inside the White Space of the Gate, Ainz was holding a golden statue of a three-head dog in his hand, with a dwarf to his side.

The dwarf was creating other items, the mountain of items to his side was proof.

To the dwarf, Fiensen of the Dwarf Race, it was a disgrace to create such inferior items. In the glorious Ainzland, there were items of unrivaled power. For example, the elders could create items infused with runes to reach the level of legendary tier. Items of such levels were something that the common people never see in their lifetime.

Legendary items were the sacred item of factions. The better they do in life; the more they can leave behind; and what's better than something that would never fade with time, like a powerful treasure?

The items he created so far are considered trash amongst items, high-class items. These items only had a set amount of power imbued into them. In the world Lord Ainz wanted him to create the items for, these items were godly.

The reason for the low tier items was because of the quality of the material at hand. His stingy Lord Ainz didn't give him any rare materials for the creation process, so he had to do with what he had.

To Fiensen, this was training, he was one of the worst craftsmen of his age group but that's only compared to other dwarves. To other races, his items could be sold for thousands of ainz coins. But he knew he had to improve or else he would be left behind, thus he answered the call of Lord Ainz.

Lord Ainz had told him, as long as he created items for him, he would give him ores and other rare materials. To any Dwarf, such a deal was a good one, especially since the one making it was Ainz Ooal Gown himself.

One thing many people in the world came to know, even if they didn't like Lord Ainz, was that he never breaks a deal when he makes one.

His foresight is godly and can plan thousands of years into the future, something his subordinate gods fail to do. If he made a deal with you, obviously you are someone important to the future of the world.

Such an honor, who wouldn't want it? Danger comes to people with a future, otherwise why would fate give them challenges to overcome?

He digressed. The three-headed golden dog was his most recent creation made according to the words of Lord Ainz: It must be an intelligent Golem with emotions, at least rivaling that of a human child.

The only thing he failed to accomplish when creating the Golem was the color. Since he had used gold and a slight amount of other materials; the Golem didn't get the black color Ainz asked for but other than that, it truly was a guard dog.

It couldn't beat the weakest warrior of Ainzland, but for this world; it was powerful. Its job was simply to guard an entrance; which anyone could do.

Looking at the dog in his hand, Ainz felt it would not frighten those who seek the Underworld in the future.

Compared to a black three-headed Cerberus, the fear aspect of a golden three-headed Cerberus would be less.

Black inspires mystery and fear in the hearts of observers. Gold inspires divinity, nobility, and purity.

'Who would fear a golden dog?'

Shaking his head, Ainz looked up at the Mirror of Remote Viewing, seeing Tartarus leading his army of demons.

Of the Primordial Gods, Tartarus was the one with the greatest control over his newfound power. In such a short amount of time, he summoned so many demons, which caught Ainz's notice.

He doesn't understand why the demons didn't vanish after a certain time, like his undeads. The only reason he could think of was that something changed.

In Ainzland, all Players saw a change in their abilities, so it was not strange to think Earth could influence a NPC spells.

The demons spread over Tartarus in a disciplined manner, as they built cells, towers, castles, and more. These were for the unfortunate people who would fall here to be punished.

Ainz was not sure how Tartarus planned to rule his domain which interested him. Would he punish both mortals and gods? The uncertainty of everything made his blood boil in excitement.

The demons were busy hacking at the walls of their confined world, expanding it as the minutes go by. Dirt and rocks fall from their diligent work, before being collected by other demons, tossing it into the lava pits.

The lava pit bubbled before subsiding, totally unlike normal lava. Inside this lava, there were lava demons, but unlike in Nazarick, they were babies compared to the monstrosities inside that Lava Lake.

The demons use their magic to harden the ceiling of their world, making it harder for catastrophe to happen.

Their work paid off, as compared to when Ainz made Tartarus the size had grown tremendously. This was also the reason why he gained so much gold in this short amount of time.

It should be noted that Tartarus exists inside the Underworld. Since he created a special wall around the Greek and Roman Underworld, the Underworld was as large as Greece and Rome combined.

Tartarus simply exist on a different end of the Underworld but if they keep digging, one would reach Erebus and Nyx residence.

———

Ainz always rewards those who serve him loyally and do as they are told. This was not different. The reward he had for Tartarus was the Golem in his hand. In the myths, Cerberus was the child of Typhon and Echidna, but since they won't exist, he would fill the gap of creating monsters, until he finds someone to play that role.

Cerberus would later be handed over to Hades, but for now, he will remain with Tartarus. He won't give Cerberus any orders, he will operate fully on his own.

Looking in the Mirror of Remote Viewing, Ainz opened a in front of Tartarus and dropped the small golden statue in.

As soon as the opened, Tartarus noticed it, seeing the small statue fall through. He knew the only one that could do this was Ainz, so he wasn't alarmed. If Ainz wanted to kill him, no one could stop him, as he had almighty power.

Before the item touched the ground, the statue shone and expanded, reaching a height of 4 meters, which made it look like a regular dog, for someone his height.

This was the birth of the Hound of Hades.

Tartarus looks at the dog as it looks back at him. A divine titan and the Hound of Hades looked at each for a couple of minutes, before breaking eye contact.

Tarturas lost interest after seeing the dog, as he could see it was a living creature. It was alive but not to the degree of humans.

Cerberus found itself being stared down by a giant who looks evil, with horns piercing through its skull. He wasn't scared by any means, but he felt threatened. A single pat could end him, which frightens him. He didn't want to die, he was not born even five minutes yet and he came face to face with this?

Thankfully, the demon left shaking his head, probably disappointed in what he saw.

Signing in relief, Cerberus ran around, going in the opposite direction of the demon, before meeting similar-looking creatures. They all had one thing in common, they were stronger than him, which was the case everywhere, he was the weakest creature present.

Speechless, Ainz observes the situation which developed contrary to what he believed. Shouldn't Tartarus be overjoyed in the gift he was given? Shouldn't Cerberus be more terrifying? Why was he shaking at everything he saw?

Looking to his side, he saw some weapons laying, before picking one up. The item he grabs was a brown whip that seems to be made of bamboo leaves. It didn't have any special enchantment on it, and simply had two forms, a whip, and spear. The item can freely change between those two forms.

"Fiensen, add some runes to this item." Ainz tosses the item towards the dwarf, who rolled out of the way by reflex.

Fiensen stood up angrily, "Lord Ainz, that was dangerous! I almost damage the item I'm working on." Still, he walked to the thrown item and picked it up. "This item is too weak, I can at most put two runes on it, and they cannot be too powerful."

Ainz ignored the rant, before thinking of which runes he wanted on the item. Thinking for a second, "Add a rune that makes it so the item if thrown will return to the user. The second one must be the fire damage rune. The longer you are being hit by it, the more damage you will take, not just from physical but also by fire it contains."

Fiensen eyes lit up before dimming, "These are good ideas, but the first one is stupid. No warrior would drop their weapons, such a thing is lunacy. If they cannot wield their weapons properly, they do not need to be warriors."

"Just do it. I don't care about the items themselves, but the effect it would give to the user."

"Lord Ainz, I'm in place." Chrono's voice reaches Ainz's ears, making him smile; it is time to enter Phase 2.

"You can start."
