Boss

Its definitely marvelous what the humans have made 3000 years since the discovery of mana. Humans have learned to control them much easier than electricity. These bracelets are one of such things.

Its a personal computer, so to speak, but more. It can definitely connect to the internet, but it also acts as your identification, your basic information, your bank account, and many other things combined in one bracelet. But it is very fragile or else it might look too bulky. There are definitely better ones but this is enough for Mark.

A screen popped up in front of his eyes with a box in the middle, it looks like someone messeged him.

"Must be boss." Mark thought to himself, which is very likely considering he was absent today. "He must be really angry. I hope he doesn't fire me."

The bracelet was given to Mark by the boss. The boss said that I would be easier to just give him one so he can send the money directly to Mark than go to a bank and procure the money first before giving it to Mark.

The money of today had gone back to ancient times, copper is money of the lowest value, followed by silver, then gold. The convertion rate is 1000 to 1 and it is used pretty much globally, except the wild of course.

Mark checked the messege, and it was really his boss. Mark was somewhat fearful as he knows how the boss treats people when he is angry, the boss beats them up and fires them, that is what happened to his colleague when the boss found his colleague stealing stuff from the warehouse. Mark definitely do not want that to happen to him, he needs the money.

Boss: Where the fu**ing hell were you today! I had to be the cashier since no one knew math here even though we had a fu**ing old fu**ing calculator here. I have to go back and forth from the cashier and the warehouse just to check the items if they are counted correctly, and when I go back to the counter, people are already lining up and complaining!

Mark was already terrified when he read the first sentence, after all, he ran the risk of getting fired from his first job! What more! It seemed like the store has become more populated than before. Mark never had people lining up on the cashier before.

*ding*

Another messege box appeared.

Boss: Hey! I am asking you! I know you are there, I can see you are online, hey!

Mark is currently in despair and when he heard another ding, he immediately checked it out. After reading the boss' messege, he immediately replied, making excuses on the way.

Mark: Boss, I am so sorry I wasn't able to arrive ay work today. I woke up pretty late today, and after 5 minutes of a quick shower and eating, I rushed out. But I fell down the stairs! I am currently resting on my bed with bandages all over my body.

Mark immediately sent the messege, afraid of wasting anymore of boss' time. He then took a picture of himself and sent it.

Mark: Look! I even had to cover a wound on my forehead with a bandana!

Mark then waited patiently. He can see moving dots, indicating that the boss is currently sending a messege.

Although the messeging system of the times today requires no typing, Mark likes to use the keyboard so he can practice his spelling skills, and he can also improve his motor skills by typing super fast, as of his brain and his hands are running at the same speed.

*ding*

Mark opened the messege.

Boss: Oh! Are you okay? Tell me what happened tomorrow. And remember to wake up early so this doesn't happen again. Running between the warehouse and the cashier is hard so come back here tomorrow and do your job, and remember that if you take another leave without giving a notice first, I will immediately fire you, okay?

Mark gave a sigh of relief. He almost got fired, good thing he was able to persuade the boss! It was easier than he expected.

*ding*

Almost automatically did Mark opened the messege.

Boss: And teach your coworkers how to do math! We have a calculator yet they don't even know how to use it! Fu**ing hell.

Mark then saw that the boss is no longer online.

A lot has changed after 3000 years, a lot has remained the same, too. The humans were not focused solely on research and science, they are more concerned to strength and life, after all, the beasts are invading again.

Mark drank a glass of water. He sighed after thinking about the things that happened today. But now he has a clear goal. Before, Mark only thought about food and shelter, he never really thought about fighting. He dreamed of becoming a merchant someday, too. And maybe help some beggars. But life hit him hard.

Those people were clearly part of a gang, how else were they able to just take away people money and beat them up without the authorities doing anything? Mark isn't dumb, he just didn't know much, after all he can't remember sh8.

But he promised himself something, and he will for sure do it.

Eyy, bubbles here.
