Chapter Three

Akio woke up, realizing that it was already nighttime. She got out of her room and saw that the rain had already stopped.

She emptied the buckets and wiped the floor that was drenched with rain. After cleaning, she went to newly cleaned kitchen and started to boil water. She let out a yawn as she took out one cup noodle. She was too lazy to prepare dinner for herself so cup noodles were such lifesavers.

Akio took the kettle and poured into the cup. As she waited for the boiled water to cook the noodles, her ears heard something from outside. She couldn't quite make out what was it so she slowly stood up and quietly opened the back door.

The house was surrounded by a forest so she thought that perhaps it was only the animals that she heard. She walked out of the house with her flashlight and looked around.

She could hear shuffling of leaves and groans. Akio got a bit scared but decided to find out the source. She stepped into the forest with flashlight as her only companion, following the strange noise. As she gets a closer, the groans suddenly stopped. Akio's heart was beating rapidly as she moved forward.

Then she suddenly tripped and fell to the ground. She got up and was trying to find her flashlight that flew from her hands until she saw a horrifying scene before her.

The flashlight was pointing at an unconscious man with his foot caught in a bear trap. There was so much blood around but Akio wasn't fazed as she was a former veterinarian. Snapping out of her trance, she quickly rushed towards the man. She mustered all her strength and opened the bear trap with her hand and foot and use the other hand to remove his leg.

After that, Akio ripped a part of her shirt to wrap around the man's bloody leg. Then, she wrapped his hands around her neck and tried lifting him up. Due to her everyday exercise at the gym, she successfully got the man on her back.

She slowly walked in difficulty, trying not to slip. A bit later, she finally arrived at her house. She brought the man inside and laid him down slowly in the second room of the house. When Akio finally caught her breath, she quickly went to find her medical kit. Not long after, she rushed back to the room and began cleaning his wound and wrapped it with bandages.

With years of experience with medicine, Akio guessed that the man might had been wounded for almost an hour in the rain since the wound was starting to be infected. She felt a bit guilty that she hadn't heard him earlier but brushed the feeling away as she filled a small basin with lukewarm water.

Then she took a towel and headed back to the room. The man was only wearing worn out trousers when she found him so it was inevitable for him to have a fever. Akio started rubbing the towel on his body, getting rid of dirt.

After cleaning the man, she finally noticed the man's appearance. He was handsome beyond words. He had a tall nose, a sharp jaw, and his hair was white as the full moon tonight. His eyes must also be beautiful but she couldn't see it behind his eyelids. She met numerous handsome men but this man was different. She doesn't know why but she knew he was different.

Glancing down at her watch, she realizes that it was late. Akio took out a blanket and placed it over the man. She took the basin and the medical supplies and head out, closing the door behind her. She then felt her stomach rumble and went to the kitchen to eat her soggy cup noodle.

After dinner, she washed and went to her room, where she collapsed in exhaustion and quickly entered her dreamland...
