Outbust

Kayden and Kelvin walked into the care home, Kayden's heart filled with a mix of emotions. She had been preparing herself for this visit, knowing that her mother's Alzheimer's had progressed further. But she still wanted her mother to see the kind of man she had given her heart to. Knowing it had always been one of her mother's wishes.

As they entered the ward in which her mother was, Kayden's eyes met her mother's, and she saw the familiar blankness.

"Hi, Mom," Kayden said softly, trying to sound cheerful as they strolled in. She knew her mother might not recognize her, but she hoped to spark some connection.

Her mother looked at her with a hint of confusion, then turned to Kelvin. "Who are you?" she asked, her voice firm but uncertain.

"This is Kelvin, Mum," Kayden said, trying to guide her. "My boyfriend. We came to visit you together."
