10.) Talking with a hostage?

The com went silent the moment Alton spoke.

In the end Leon could only agree, this was a dangerous situation, especially since the person was no longer fully conciseness.

Alton's issued the command and in the end the tightly shut doors opened and he stepped in.

Alton watched the doors shut behind him before turning and walking into the torn ground. He focused on the small crouching figure.

The small child sat, her eyes staring at the ground with great concentration. Suddenly sensing movement she turned her attention to Alton.

Stoping a somewhat safe distance away Alton spoke,

"Yari, can i talk to you?"

The soldiers listening in through the com were surprised. They have never heard there

Commander speak so gently.

Leon's eyebrows raised, it seemed this man always had a surprise for him.

Yair stood up but stayed still. She didn't react at all to Alton's extremely gentle tone. Stepping closer Alton began to speak,

"You know Yair, i know a little girl just like you. I feel the two of you would get along very well."

Suddenly Yairs eyes flashed her fingers twitched and Alton could feel she was listening to him.

He paused. He hadn't spoken about Amir in so long. He had buried his past after coming here, trying to deal with the loss as well as adapt and survive. Stepping closer he spoke again.

"Yair do you like making friends? The little girl i know does."

Yairs body was now facing Alton. Her small moth opened, and in a broken sentence she spoke,

"…N-namme myyy friend-zs…"

Alton stared at Yair and almost felt he could see the tiny Amir smiling at him, standing next to Yair as if to say, 'Look dad i made a new friend!'.

"The little girls name is Amir. She is someone very important to me. She is my daughter."

The soldiers and even eyes grew wide. This man had never been seen with a woman or even a man. He had almost no dating scandals, and all the scandals he did have were very obviously fake.

Alton was now only a few feet from Yair. She had now completely calmed down. He attention was now all on Alton and his words.

"Amir was a very playful child and loved getting into trouble. As she grew up she made many friends. I'm sure if the two of you met you would have lots of fun."

He voice was gently and his words slightly childish, Yair had never had anyone talk to her like this. She stared at Alton.

"Amir…A-Amir friends. Me to."

Alton crouched down in front of Yair,

"Wow! Really? Amir would be so happy! Say Yair, if you are friends with my daughter then does that mean your friends with me?"

Yair stoped and frowned. It seemed she encountered a issue she couldn't solve.

Alton's face dropped and even his shoulders sagged a bit. Watching the live feed Leon wanted to laugh, the battle maniac had turned into a mopey pet that had been ignored.

Yairs eyes began to regain their normal color and she saw Alton's appearance.

"D-don't be sad…Yair can be friends with you…"

She pursed her small lips, seemingly making a condescension to comfort the sad man.

Alton's face brightened at once.

"Yair and Amir would get along very well, Amir, you, and i can all be friends! Doesn't that sound great?"

Alton stared at the small girls face,

"Would you like to come play with me? Like friends do?"

He reached out his arms his movements were gentle and his soft gaze drew Yair in. After a moment of hesitation she stepped forward and grabbed his hands.

I'm a sudden movement Alton picked her up from the ground. Yairs power suddenly spiked and sent out sharp bolts towards Alton. He blocked most of them but because of the close distance between them he was still injured.

Several bloody gashes were on his arms and hands. Still he held Yair gently,

"Sorry did i startle you?"

Yairs grip was strong enough to bruise Alton. Her powers were still uncontrollable. She needed to get injected with the calming medicine soon otherwise she would lose consciousness again and rampage until she completely exhausted her power.

Gently patting Yairs back he moved slowly towards the large doors. As he walked he spoke to Yair, saying whatever came to mind.

"I would hold Amir like this Yair, she was always happy when i did. Do you like it Yair?"

She nodded her small head, her gentle blue hair swaying with her movements.

"…I like this. I've never done this before. Does Amir do it a lot?"

Alton had almost reached the gates.

"Yes, she always asked me to carry her. Until she was too big for me to cary that is."

Yair settled her head against Alton's shoulder, her breathing slowing down. She was simply a child, such a large amount of power exploding in such a small body was exhausting. Not to mention going on a rampage right after.

As he signaled for the door to be opened Yairs voice reached his ears and also passed clearly though the intercoms.

"Can i play with Amir? We can be friends right?"

Alton suddenly stoped. His voice was heartbreakingly gentle.

"No sweetie, Amir can't play with you but i'll play with you ok?"

After a small yawn Yair spoke drifting off to sleep,

"Where is Amir? Why can't i play with her?"

Alton's breath stagnated, he spoke softly, his hand patting her back.

"Amir is in a very far away place, and she can't come over to play. But i'm here, i can play with you for her…ok?"

Yairs sleepy voice replied sounding reluctant,

"…ok.."

Alton finally stepped through the doors and felt them seal shut behind him. Walking twords the waiting medical staff he handed the sleeping Yair away and after taking some medicine and spraying his wounds so they would heal completely within the next few days he left. He felt exhausted.

Seeing Yair really did remind him of Amir, digging up those emotions and acting like how he would to the young Amir brought back so many memories. He face was cold but he's eyes were unfocused. He mind thinking of his family on earth.

How many years he had been here..he wondered how many years it would have been there. We're they all still alive? Or had they passed away?

Did Amir ever get married? We're his parents worried about his disappearance? Would they be healthy? We're their any accidents? Did they miss him like he missed them?

With his last though he unconsciously chuckled, of course they did. They must have been missing him just like he was missing them.

Leon saw the shallow smile on Alton's face and suddenly wanted to ask. He knew that Alton wasn't originally from the Empire, so where was he from? And…Amir…his daughter. If he had a daughter he must have had a family as well. If he had one why did he leave? Was he forced to? Did he try to go back? Who did he have Amir with? Does he still love them?

His thoughts wandered like this but Leon didn't realize the strangeness. He couldn't help his mouth and walking to Alton he asked,

"Alton, your family…"

Before he could finish he met Alton's eyes. He suddenly stoped.

While they were much closer than they were originally feeling Alton's sudden change in mood he stoped speaking.

"That was rude of me. Forgive me for asking. Thank you for stepping up this situation was a tough one. I hope your wounds heal quickly."

He smiled lightly and left quickly. Leon's mood soured. The feeling of being guarded against was unpleasant, as for why he hated the idea that Alton was guarded against him he didn't think of why. It was such a natural emotion and thought that he didn't realize the wrongness.
