Rebirth

On a rainy night, a middle-aged man was sitting on a luxurious couch in the middle of the room. He was repeatedly massaging his forehead trying to ease the evident frustration on his face. In front of him was a man of early 50's and a panicked expression can clearly be seen on his face.

"Tell me! How did a spy manage to rise into the ranks of the executives? How the hell did you manage your people?" The middle-aged man said inquisitively. There was a hint of anger and disappointment in his voice. "Do you know how much this blunder will cost us? The major shareholders kept on pestering me to give them some explanation and I don't even know what to say to them." The middle-aged man talking was the chairman of the Aurous Group of Companies and the descendant of the Adam Family who managed to build a business empire when he was 25, William Adam.

The Adam Family was one of the ancient families who practice magic arts. Over a millennium, their attainments on magic arts have reached a profound level where they can destroy an entire city with a single thought. However, the gradual decrease of magicules on earth became a dilemma towards these families as the number of practitioners they managed to cultivate decreased.

Time passed and the number of mages continuously lessened and the rise of technology started to replace magic. And with the arrival of the era of peace, warfare is rarely seen. And with the drop in the number of mages, magic which is no longer seen in public, became a mere product of human's creative imagination.

"Mr. Chairman... I'm not really aware of this..." the man panicking said. The man was the director of the BaiTech Industries, which was under the umbrella of the Aurous Group of Companies. He was frustrated, angry and at the same time worried that he was suspected of being in cahoots with the executive who leaked a core technology.

"Director Song, this scandal has really angered the shareholders. Although I am impressed with your performance as the director of one of our industries, the upper management won't definitely let this blunder go. You should just wait for the result of our board meeting tomorrow, I'll try my best to lessen your punishment as thanks for your service." The chairman waved his hand as a gesture to dismiss Director Song.

The director left the hotel room with a dejected face. He tried his luck to reason with the chairman and only to be disappointed with the chairman's words. He had served as the director for BaiTech for 15 years and increased its profit enough to be listed as among the top 300 companies in the world since he was appointed and yet in face of this mistake, those achievements weren't even taken into consideration.

*knock* *knock* *knock*

A few minutes after the director left, a knocking sound was heard at the door of the room of the hotel the chairman stayed.

*creak*

The door opened and a thin old man wearing a black suit and pants entered. The man looked like he's in the early 60's with visible wrinkles around his face.

"What's our schedule for tomorrow?" The chairman asked his secretary.

"A meeting with the board at 9 and a meeting with the president of the Beta Corporation in the afternoon." The middle-aged man said while preparing at tea for the chairman.

This man was William's secretary. He was a close friend of William and his childhood friend. He was also a major shareholder of Group and as well as William's adviser.

William nodded in acknowledgment and sipped his tea. He closed his eyes thinking about the events that happened. His head was still aching from looking for a solution that hit one of his major subsidiaries. The leakage of on the core technology of the BaiTech Industry poses a huge threat to the company as this will result in a huge loss of profits and a drop in its stock prices.

While his thought is still wandering over the problem, his heart suddenly pounded faster. Half a minute later his muscles started to contract and loss control over it.

"What's happening?" He thought. "Why can't I feel my body?"

"AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!" His scream resounded all over the room. While he was writhing in pain the middle-aged man in the 60's smiled.

"What do you think about the Vieon family's 7 colored poison, Mr. Chairman?" The secretary mockingly said with a grin plastered on his face.

"You...what...did...you...do?" The chairman asked with a difficulty in speaking, mustering every strength he had. The pain still attacked every inched of his body. It felt like countless small beings ripping each cell in his body.

But before the man could even respond, William dropped unconscious from the pain.

Assassinated. Betrayed.

Those were the words that stuck on William's head before he fainted.

A minute later, he stopped breathing.

When William opened his eyes, he found himself in the middle of a vast expanse of darkness. Everything around him was black. But despite the blackness of the surroundings and the lack of any source of light, he was still capable of seeing his body.

Where is this place? Strange, I can still vaguely remember my lesson on physics. I shouldn't be able to see myself in this darkness without any source of light.

Instead of feeling afraid of the unknown surroundings, as a descendant of mages and an overlord tycoon, his curiosity revolved around his thoughts, and even forgot what had happened to him earlier.

"Hello! Is there anyone here?" His shout echoed all over the place. He started walking around. Ass he was observing around he saw a vortex of darkness. Despite theblack surroundings, the vortext was still visible and its color seems to be denser than the surroundings.

Before William could react, the vortex grew in size and swallowed him whole.

The next thing that happened was he felt something pulling his head and below his body, some force is pushing him up.

He tried to open his eyes but he felt like he has yet to gain full control over his body. And before he could analyse what was going on, a soft spank hit his buttocks and involuntarily cried.

"Congratulations, Madam! You've got a healthy son!" A feminine voice was heard.
