Chapter 42 Following Signs

Unknowingly, I wrapped my arm around my belly protectively, “He can’t… He won’t…” I started to stutter in worry.

“But what if he does, Amy? You have to think carefully before taking any action.

You do have an idea from which family he belongs, he could crush you and your child if he wants to…”

Elle spoke the bitter truth and I flinched from its sharpness.

“Elle, please, he won’t treat me like this, he’s a good guy…” I tried to play it cool but deep inside my nerves were panicking at that rare possibility.

What if it was an illusion of a good and sweet boy that Derek showed me?

What if he turned out to be the same as Elle has portrayed?

“Amy… I didn’t mean to worry you, fool…” Keeping back the platter, Elle held my hands and pulled me into her embrace.

She must have sensed the trembling of my body.

“Listen, you should look for signs if you need to be sure about him.” She held my face as she advised.

“Signs??” I asked her puzzled and she gave me a sheepish smile.
