"Well, I dare say you will!" the loud and imposing voice of the Earl of Clanford echoed across the room. GLENDA

Seating under an oak tree Madison cried her eyes out wishing that her nanny or even her mother will come to get her from this horrible place.

She kept crying and crying until they were no more tears to shed and then she started sniffing. She didn’t know how long she had been there but she knew it was probably past dinner time and she will now have to sleep with an empty stomach.

Hearing some footsteps approach her Madison looked up to see a young girl around her age but a bit shorter with light brown hair and wide green eyes approach her with her hands behind her back. Cleaning her nose she sat up straight to look at the girl properly, and when she finally reached her they both just stared at each other without saying anything.

“Uhm”

The girl slowly brought her hands out from her back and what she saw In her hands immediately brighten up her face, snatching the stitched doll from the girl hands she brought it close to her chest and hugged it tightly, looking back up at her she saw her smiling.

“Thank you, did you stitch it yourself?”

“Yes” she replied with a friendly smile “my mama taught me how to”

How nice Madison taught to have one's mother seat with her and teach her something, her mother will never do such a thing, ever.

“I saw what happened earlier and I knew you were sad because of the doll, and mama always says it’s good to bring a smile on other people faces, that’s why I decided to stitch it up nicely for you” pursing her lips when she got no response she asked “do you like it?”

“Yes, i am just shocked that you did this for me” Madison stared at her with joy and admiration “my nanny also says it’s good to help those who are in need of our help”

“Then your nanny is just like my mama” Without realizing what she said the little girl sat on the bench with her “you should really stay away from Jen and her friends, they are mean and dose this all the time”

“Why?”

Shrugging her little shoulders she just stared at Madison “I don’t know, but Jennifer’s mama owns the school so even if you report them to anyone nothing will happen.”

Madison now understood why the girl named Jennifer tore her doll head off, it was because she knew she will get away with it without being punished, and it was also the same reason why Rosette stepped on her plants, because she knew that she will not be scolded due to her family status and money.

To a girls like Madison is was very wrong to pick on someone like that, she never did anything wrong to anyone so she didn’t expect them to do such to her, that’s why she had a hard time understanding how girls of their age could be so mean all the time.

“Have they ever bullied you before” she couldn’t help but ask

“Yes, but that was since when I joined newly”

“Did your parents bring you here to punish you?”

The girl looked at her like she was not okay.

“Of course not, why will they? They brought me here to learn because they couldn’t find a responsible governess”

“Hmmm, do you like it here?”

“Not very much, but am sure I will, now that I have a friend” the girl smiled at her bashfully “I am Glenda by the way.”

“Madison”

“Nice to meet you Madison”

“Likewise” she too was very happy, she had never had a friend her age before, so this was her first time, her only confidant was Ellison, so it was nice to know she will have someone to play with here and keep her company so she decided that she will forever cherish their friendship and never break her trust.

“Do you want to eat?” Glenda asked cutely

“Is there any food left?” she felt her stomach grumble at the mere taught of food.

“Yes, I saved you a slice a bread and cheese, come on now”

Both the girls stood up and headed towards the dining hall.

After dinner the both walked hand in hand to their room while chatting and getting to know each other more, it was then that Madison found out that Glenda also lived in clanford, she didn’t live near her house but it wasn’t a long journey to get there, she also found out that Glenda father was a viscount and he also worked in the court to, Glenda had an older brother who was just thirteen but he was in another boarding school meant for just boys.

The two girls stayed up all night talking and sharing stories and when dusk came and it was time for breakfast Madison was called by the administrator to tell her that her family had come to see her, but she didn’t want to see them.

The only reason she went to the hall they were waiting for her in was because she missed her sister so much and she wanted to give her a tight hug.

But upon getting there she realized that Ellison hadn’t come along with her parents and it was just her mother and her nanny, she was glad her father hadn’t come too because she didn’t want to see him after he tossed her in this school, even though things were getting better for her after meeting Glenda she still wanted to go home.
