Xie Yixiang looked at Shao Wenbo with wide, surprised eyes. No one had ever said that to her—and certainly no man. No one ever promised to respect her choice.
"But…" Xie Yixiang wanted to question him, but she didn't even know how to formulate her thoughts. All her life, she had been taught that girls were submissive. As a child, she had to obey her father. Then once she married, she would have to obey her husband. And if when she was old and her husband died before her, she would have to listen to her son. Yet here was a young man whom she just met promising her autonomy.
"I know what you are thinking. This is completely unconventional, right?" Shao Wenbo seemed to be able to read her thoughts. "But my priority is your happiness. If you do not want to do something, then you will be unhappy. No matter what it is, no matter how large or small the situation is, your happiness comes first."
